I went for bass the other day at beltzville. Problems right now consist of the bass are deep and my boat is in storage. Now the spots I know at beltzville that I can fish from shore are shelves. Now I can throw a jig but I get stuck 1/4th of the time bringing it up the shelf. You can go right now on many areas but the fishing is tough. At this time I much rather put a minnow on a tip up and sit on my butt and wait until march/april!

Holy cow he catches some monster fish! This makes me want to be a photographer.

I agree with RW. I think that jerk baits require a certain feel which is aquired over time. I have it because I have fished for trout all my life with rapalas. I think something with a chuck and wind would be easier in the beginning as well such as a spinnerbait, crankbait and lipless crank. Possibly even a berkley grub on a mushroom head.

I really like the Lowrance iWay® 600C, but it is way above my price range.

What scales satisfy your fish weighing needs? I have been using this spring scale from the 1980's. I think it is time to pick up an up to date one. :-/

Are Berkley scales accurate? Is battery life sufficient?

I know Lowrance has an Automobile and Boat GPS in one but I dont think either one would be great. I think it would provide minimal for both. Are there any combo's out there that are good for boat and autos?

I was looking at two specific brands ( TomTom and Garmin). I found the Garmin Nuvi 650 for $339 and the TomTom One XL is like $350. Which would you guys prefer? Any better options or prices avaliable throw them at me. Thanks!

Well following the trend with my posts this one also has 1203414078 questions! Sorry again! ;D I have a Gsplash 80 I got my trebles rashed up bad from stripers. I changed out the hooks and since then my hook up rate has been HORRIBLE. I was wondering what size hooks the originals were. I need a new feathered treble and front treble. Has anyone else had problems like this? Another question I have seen this before in the forum but I can't find it with search. What is the best all around size for the sammy. I have the smaller version then the 100 I dont know if its a 85 or what it is. Do you guys reccomend buying a split ring pliers? What sunglasses do you guys use? What scale do you guys use? The scales with the hooks do you puncture the fishes mouth with those or tuck it under the gill slit toward the front of the mouth? Do you guys carry bladder bleeders? I had a problem last tournament with a fish. I caught him jigging cover in 25 foot of water and it had the symptoms of the "fish bendz". If you do use the bleeders do you go through the midsection or the mouth?

I fit one peice 7' rods in my car all the time. I have a two door car also. There are two ways of fitting all your rods in. Many cars have a drop down back seat. I drop the back seat down and lay the rod from trunk to inbetween my drive seat and passenger seat. Another way is what AnimeOther described. Many times I have fit 5+ 6'6-7' rods + a cooler+ tackle bags/vests in my car.

You did the right thing. You dont want to do anything stupid in front of your wife and kids. Trust me I would have been very tempted as well to confront them and give them a little jack johnson and tom oleary action. I am proud of you big guy! I might be one of those guys. I try to bring my A game period. Especially when you fish with people that know you do tournaments and dont know you very well. You have a bad showing they think you are blowing smoke up there ***. That is a sitiuational thing of course but I really enjoy catching fish period. I can have fun fishing for anything anywhere.

Personally I hate braid on spinning set ups. Anyone else out there like me? You can spool up 10 or 12 just watch the spool.

I learned quite a bit about mountain lions in PA. I had a course on wildlife I have talked to the director of wildlife for the state. The government wont admit to having mountain lions in PA. There is a rumor that Penn State released some. There is no definite evidence that there are mountain lions breeding in PA. This has been researched for years and years by many people including my professor. They are allowed to be hunted. If you see one send me a picture my professor will get a kick out of it because he wont believe it otherwise.

I just played with my new rod and this rod is sick. I cast 50 yards without trying and I am not good with baitcasters! Are the higher end rods much better than this? Roadwarrior turned me on to it for all trebels and THANK YOU! One of my lakes I chase minnow schools around and now that I can cast 50-60 yards it will make it easy. I was just casting with a 3/8 oz practice weight. I reccomend this rod to everyone. You cannot beat the performance for the sale price of $96.00.

I need to get my accuracy up with flipping, pitching, and casting baitcasters. Focus on jigging and cranking. Better understand the bass biology and routines. Focus more on food source such as crayfish movement/habitat, and shad movement/habitat. FISH AT LEAST 20 TOURNAMENTS WITH A NEW CLUB!!!! :-/

I am talking about when I am reeling. I just wondered because on my Trion and the others I have tried would spin a lot easier. I give it one hard spin and the handle usually spins for quite awhile but not on this one. I was just curious if something was wrong or not.

I took the spool out and everything and it still is doing the same thing. The one I felt in cabelas today reeled smoother also there is like a rubbing sound.

Well I have just recieved my reel from delos. Right out of the box the reel was reeling very tight like the brake was on hard. I lossened all the brakes internally and externally and I will spin the reel as hard as I can and it would barely go across once. I messed with my Trion and it went aross 3 times. By across I am talking about where you put your line through traveled across the face. Any solutions here? Am I missing something simple?
