  1. Jimmy Houston started the sick trend of kissing fish....I know it's not right but sometimes when I catch a big ol' girl I catch myself leaning in for a kiss.... :-* I blame years of watching Jimmy Houston for this!
  2. Catt do you think your wife will like that cubic zirconium?
  3. First off muddy I know your not talking about the tournament sitiuation. I just brought up the tournament sitiuation because I remembered people doing that and then plotting on GPS and later fishing it in the tournament later that week. I said it FEELS like cheating! I'm not saying it IS cheating. If it is fishing for leisure in a place that doesnt contain much cover like a strip mine or a pond I see that as being ok. I just feel that in tournaments that making your own hot spots is an unfair advantage. If the state drops in cover that is fair because they arn't benifiting in monetary gains from the cover they dropped in. I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers but I should of known that comment would have started an argument.
  4. You have talent sir! They look amazing!
  5. I hate how people put trees and pallets then make it on there GPS then fish it during tournaments. It feels too much like cheating. I got away from trout fishing and into bass fishing because I thought there would be less cheating. I used to get so ticked off when I would go first day to a spot I KNEW had lunkers then I went the first morning and found out someone caught them out the night before.... Or when I fish for a 22+ inch trout for a couple days then someone snags him out. > Well that is my rant!
  6. Yeh there have been posts of this exact one in the past weeks. I dont get why all the $$$ :-/
  7. I agree with Sam 100% The rapala line has a great selection of crankbaits. I also use cotten cordell Big o. I suggest Kevin Van Dam books he is WELL known for his crankbaiting skills and tactics and he writes about it in his books. Good luck I also am working on my crankbaiting skills!
  8. I would like to know what the first guy that decides to touch or pick this thing up is thinking. No way in he*l would I be the one to be like hey guys lets grab this goofy looking thing! It may be toxic or shock us but lets get em'!
  9. I just remembered the FLW magazine I have has David Dudley in the water holding a burlap bag with his crankbait on it. I just thought of that and how it relates it is just funny.
  10. 1. Do tournament anglers and professionals use anchors!? 2. Do they use lure retrievers? 3. What does it mean to take different angles? I dont know why but I have been pondering about these three questions for quite awhile now! It seems like tournament boaters use their trolling moters as anchors. I have read a few books and many articles and I have seen angles come up a lot. I don't understand what they mean. I know that if there was a log laying in the water you would take different angles with topwaters and so on. I'm sure these will have simple answers I just need to get these simple questions off my chest and get them answered! Thank you!
  11. I go on winter break Dec. 22nd. I have a 10$ off coupon that expires early jan. and i have a 25$ gift card expires Dec. 31. So I will be going last week in Dec. I will most likely join you guys in jan. also.... I cannot stay away from that place when i'm home!
  12. Muddy I have a cabin at promised land. There are two lakes the upper lake and the lower lake. The lower lake they stock trout and there are some bass and catfish. The upperlake is a FULL of bass pickeral perch and panfish. There have been reports of a few musky here and there throughout the last 20 years. My cabin is by the burley inlet that whole stretch around pickeral point is good. I have seen a few 7 pound fish taken a few 4-5 lb fish taken but these bass are mostly in the 10-13 range. You catch a TON of fish. You will never go out on promised land and come up empty handed. Like I said I have a cabin and have a ton of experience on that lake. If you need any information about directions, campground info, basically anything PM me.
  13. I know many people who use two anchors one on the front and one on the back of their boat. That seems to hold them well!
  14. My whole family is known for fishing in my area. We are the ones who spend our lives fishing. We have gotten tons of kids fishing in our area we take them for trout I take people bass fishing. We show them our "secret" spots. I have learned the majority of things from my family on fishing in general. For bass fishing I have learned from my dad, uncle, a local pro that took me under his wing, and all of you at bass resource!
  15. Hooking the posative and negative up backwards and wonder why your going in reverse.
  16. Honestly...YOU are the one that needs to decide. If you go to college with your mind solely on fishing you won't do well. So you need to get your priorities straight before you go to college.
  17. My personal opinion is... yes nitro's are VERY nice boats. I like the Nitro 929 CDX's of course those are the highest end. I think the 640 is a bit small but the 750 and 898 are very nice. Every Nitro I was ever on was enjoyable, the only thing with a nitro compared to a ranger I think is the stability.
  18. Posted by: roadwarrior Posted on: Today at 9:24am That would be me, of course there is always someone on the lake that will tow you. I must have seen the same guy at my lake last year towing different people on 5 different occasions. I have had the double whammy but not to that extent..I took this 300 pound freind of mine fishing... he leaned back on my passenger seat and broke it right off the hinge. Same day my big motor stopped working on full throttle! :-/
  19. Posted by: FishTank Posted on: Today at 10:11am By "soda" you mean alcoholic beverages such as the classics.... Keystone, Miluakees Best, Paps Blue Ribbon, and of course Natural Ice.... Right? This is also one way I save money while in college... I stay away from the bar and I went from Labatts, Heiniken, and Yuengling to the others listed earlier in the post >
  20. 30 gallons sounds big. On my 14' boat I use basically a metal box under the drivers seat. That cant hold more then 20.. they do fine.
  21. I've never used eels but I would say a 4/0 eagle claw makes some in the saltwater gold baitholder edition. It also depends on what size eels your using.
  22. Isn't potomac river in MD?
  23. Eel in rivers I dont know if they are american eel or what. They are a pain in the butt....makes a mess of my line
  24. I am a WAY better trout fisherman then bass. I use a ton of different techniques. I use a lot of artificial. My top artificials rapala countdowns, trout magnets, rooster tail white. I use 6 lb test but I also catch 4 or 5 20 inch trout on some outings. Worms, minnows, meal worms, powerbait, and salmon eggs ALL work. Trout prefer specific items at times so I go through 5 or 6 baits before I see what they are hitting.
