Braid Help Please
A few years back when I was flipping in a tournament. I was using 55lb powerpro pegged texas rigged beaver with a 3/4oz weight. I snapped off three fish on the hookset. I wondered what had failed... I had the line wet, polomar knot tied perfectly. I came to the conclusion that when I layed into the fish with my 7'6 hvy rod the line would snap due to fast high pressure with no stretch in the line. I still do not know exactly what the deal was, but thats my conclusion. It may be the same deal for you, but coming undone after the hookset is different then what I experienced.

How to pick a club? Any club suggestions?
Definitely go to the meeting. You will get a feel for the guys, and how they run the club. From the websites you may be able to tell how committed they are to learning, and if there are good sticks. Check the tournament records, and schedule. Email the president or tournament directors saying you are interested in the club, and want more information regarding tournaments/fees/meetings/activities/schedules/etc..

Heddon Spook and line choice
I will take a shot at this. When "walking the dog" it's all about technique. You want to have a little slack in your line when you jerk to complete the motion. I think when the spook is farther out there is more technique involved to transfer the rod motion to the bait. The spook is my #1 go to lure, and one of the easiest to walk the dog with. I use 10 lb mono (depending on where I am fishing/size of fish). I use the 6'6 St. Croix Avid Med Fast. I think that the reason you are having a hard time is technique. Here is a video of Tom Redington describing the technique.

How do you know if it's a "good" club when you join?
What are some things you want out of the club? For me when I was scouting for a club I wanted a larger schedule, specifically fishing a wide variety of lakes. You may find that there are many clubs who will fish one or two lakes, and thats it. Many clubs will have a big annual trip out of state. Most clubs will have weights posted from previous tournaments. I checked the weights to make sure there were some quality fisherman that I could learn from. Most clubs will allow you to visit for a meeting or two before joining. When you go to the meeting see how it's ran, and meet the members. Don't be shocked if the meeting has a flare up, and an argument occurs (it happens). If the argument stays intelligent and controlled no big deal. That's about all I can think of as of now, but it's really about what you want out of it.

To Early to Prefish a Tournament?
Personally I think it is a bad idea. My experience with prefishing too early is if I get on a good bite, I have a hard time leaving it alone. In the past I would try to keep searching for those lunkers I caught prefishing. If you have the control to give up what you found or adapt as needed then it would be worth it. Otherwise.... good luck.

Anyone been to Punta Cana (D.R.)???
I went when I was younger. Honestly... I was drunk 75% of the time. The beach was awesome, but I spent the majority of the time at the pool bar. Be careful where you tread (markets and local areas) the resorts are very safe.

Post here if you are attending the Raystown trip on 9/25
A three day tourist license will be $27 a person. An annual tourist will be $53. I used to think that was expensive then I came to Wyoming and paid $110 for an annual license. My roommate paid $600 for an out of state elk tag.

Just gonna do some venting.
I didn't even watch the game. Great Call, and I look forward to the whining about your horrible team this season. Oh, wow! This comment seems to be getting a little personal and out-of-bounds! Bad call! : ( I want this call reviewed. ;D

I guess we will just agree to disagree.

You saw something I didn't see I guess. When he came down half the football was touching the ground. What would you say if he came down and he had 2 fingers on the ball, but the ground supported the other half? Is that a touchdown?

How do you keep track of your lures, list?
I simply just don't buy everything I see. I fish a fairly limited amount of baits. I use forums to try to hone in on top baits so I don't need to be the test dummy spending a ton of money. There are many anglers who think they will find a magic lure, but I try to keep it simple. I know what I need to restock, because I know what I have been fishing lately and what I have been losing.

Rapala Knot applications
It is a great knot to tie to any bait that does not have a split ring.

First off... Tide is very important. You will do the best when the tide is moving. Some key baits: Buzz frog Hollow Bodied Frog Senko 1/2oz pegged trig Spook/Sammy/Popper There are good areas to fish close to the launch site. You can fish straight across on the point (trash point). Fish the grass mat 100 yards out and 50 yards to the left of the launch. Fish the first point on the left of the launch. If you need more info just PM me.

Need a GPS system for wifes car
How old is your GPS? I know when I sold GPS's two years back what I mentioned occurred. Things may have changed, or there could have been an option I overlooked.

The end all thread
Sure if you enjoy tying and retying all day. I will say for most places I have fished I could get away with 5 rods. Let me guess... you fish with a senko 99% of the time?

Need a GPS system for wifes car
The navigation of the magellan is ok. My biggest problem with the magellan units was they have a safety feature where you couldn't navigate on the unit when in route. This may have changed from two years ago, but if it didn't I would pass. My favorite units are the garmin nuvi's. TomTom is ok, but the garmin is a much cleaner looking unit. Garmin also came out with lane assist which is very nice.

Great Bass Fishing Advice - 10 Words or Less
This advice will not always work for you. In my opinion if you want a top finish there will be times you will need to leave fish.

Smallwood State Park
First off I hope your just using all those baits to prefish. You go into the tourney with that variety your setting yourself up for a bad tourney. I have fished there quite a few times. If it were me I would have the following: -Buzzfrog -Hollow bodied frog -senko -zara spook jr. -t rigged beaver pegged -bitsy bug w/ trailer Oh.. and your answer on if high tide or low tide is the best. The answer is neither. When water is moving is the best.

Mid Level Rod Brands
I am looking very hard at the zillions. I know they are a little above my mentioned price, but I hear amazing things. Any comments about the Zillions?
