  1. I have always been told that in order to insure smooth casting with a brake system you need to have them symetrically adjusted. For example with a 6 pin system, you could have 3 on and 3 off (they should be alternating in and out though) I typically begin with them set 3 on/ 3 off when I get a new reel and start tying to learn its personality. This usually is good enough for me and from then on I adjust the magnets or tension knob on the handle side.
  2. I have been eyeing these rods for a while now but just haven't had the extra cash flow to purchase one! Fish-fighting-illini - you said that your price range was around the $200 range. Depending on what length you get they are right around $200 a pop. And also from what I have heard from my friend who has one is that it is more sensitive than the crucials (he has several of these as well). Now back to my personal experience. I have 8 or 10 Crucials and they are definitely the best rod for the money IMHO.
  3. I will start off by saying that probably for the past 10 years I have been nothing but Shimano reels. Don't get me wrong, they do make a very high quality product. Probably about 8-10 months ago I purchased a few of the Revo STX's and have fallen in love with them. I also recently purchased some of the SX's just to see what the difference was. They are a truely amazing reel for $150!
