Takes more line to make one revolution on a larger spool than it does on a smaller spool. Best to look at the IPT than the gear ratio. Very seriously doubt anyone can tell the difference between 28" and 27". I know I couldn't, I'm more of a rod user, than using the reel to pull a fish in. Think about the last time you got hung up in weeds, bet you used the rod to pull, then crank the line in right?

Think of it this way, might help. To Jeeps, both geared 4:11, one has 35" tires, one has 29" tires. Bigger tires will turn much lower RPMs. Now transfer this to spool size vs. tires

I like the Abu C-3,4,5s. Do you still use them? Yeah, I cant seem to put them away for good. I'm using them for swimbaits and salmon fishing. J Franco has a sweet C-4 w/lo gears, bearings, think he uses it for deep cranks or swimbaits. They're addictive

You haven't been on too many flights, have you ? :-? Probably 15-20 flights in my life. Granted only the last ten I really took notice of the cute ones. They are rare, but sometimes you get a lucky flight. Too bad Sarah Palin didn't attend one of my flights to alaska! ;D They would need a large supply of air sickness bags! BAD IDEA for braid. Fine for everything else. Power pro explodes when I use a lighter on it. Last few times I did it, it exploded molten Moss Green all over my hands and wrists. I had little pin-point burns for a few days. However I always use a lighter for mono/fluoro. Did it really explode?! Kaboom? A new "weapon of mass destruction?" ;D

I use the scissors on my leatherman wave or mini skeletool. Cuts clean.

My guess it was some body's wife's idea ;D
