  1. Chris is right.A bedding bass is not THAT easy to find.If you do ,it may not be that big a bass.Even if it is .they're not very easy to catch for the average weekend angler.I've caught some, but I'm not ashamed to say I've tried and failed more often. But sight fishing is a blast!
  2. Sight fishing is a lot of fun,but I personally release the fish.Like Rocknfish,If I caught a giant record fish I'd have to take the fish.I just wouldn't make a habit of it.
  3. Thanks ,Glenn.I'm getting in on this myself.
  4. I'd have never dreamed that there are bass in the Mediterranean area.Man,small world.Beautiful pics !
  5. Welcome!Capt. sounds like a really nice guy.
  6. Some people would love to get a BPS gigt certificate.Instead of getting something you don't want or need. When it comes to getting fishing equipment,I'd much rather get what I want than dear ole Aunt Peg getting me some ghetto fishing junk.
  7. As much as I'd like to add to this, these guys said it about as well as can be said.
  8. Like LBH,I think you should go with a jon boat. You can fix it up as fancy as you want or just keep it basic. You can find an old jon from $100-$300.It'll last forever.Buy you a used trailer for cheap, and you can pull it with your car.I think most of us started with jon boats and converted them into something very special.I know I miss mine(sold it and got an older fix it up glass boat).I think you'd be quite pleased with a jon boat that you can customize.
  9. Just looking at those pictures has got the ole bait monkey stirring out of his sleep!
  10. Excellent! You should be writing outdoors articles for a livivg.
  11. Since it's my thread,I get 3 more choices...LOL...1)spinnerbaits in the shallow cover 2)buzzbaits in the shallow cover 3)Horny Toads in shallow cover.
  12. What are your top three bass catchin' techniques. It may be your most successful or just your most fun or a combination of the two!My three are: 1)Floating jerkbait used as a topwater in lowlight conditions 2) the Carolina rig with a lizard or a finese worm 3) Pitchin'/Flippin' a tube or jig into cover
  13. There are so many that have influenced me over the years that I'm going to add a 2nd "top" three. 1)Jimmy Houston 2) Denny Braur 3) Joe Thomas
  14. There are so many that I admire that I'm going to add my 2nd "top" three. 1)Joe Thomas 2)Takahiro Omori 3) George Cochran
  15. 1) Bill Dance 2) Roland Martin 3) Orlando Wilson
  16. I had a good year, but it wasn't my best.I caught a lot of bass, but my biggest that I landed was around 7 pounds.I hooked and lost four others that IMO were bigger.Never really had that happen before.I've lost one or two before, but losing four was a real bummer. On the good side,I got my 14 year old to start bassin' and he caught a 7 and an 8.It got him hooked.
  17. Most of us are fans of the pro bassin' tours.Who are your three favorite pro fishermen? My top three are the following: 1) Zell Rowland 2)KVD 3)Gerald Swindle.Name your top three!
  18. Lake Eddins in Pachuta ,MS.Did anyone see the episode of "Angler on Tour" when Joe was fishing with Paul Elias and they were catching bass after bass...6 lb...7 lb...8 lb...,etc.That was on Paul Elias's home lake,Lake Eddins. It is a private trophy bass lake with a first class gated community around it.You don't fish it unless you live there or know someone who does.Paul Elias rates it as his favorite lake he's ever fished...and he's fished a few good ones. It's about 30 miles north of where I live.
  19. Yeah,we used 'em on trot lines when I was a kid camping out on sand bars and trotlining for catfish.
  20. I have a 410 and a 20 ga. both with pistol grips and short barrels(legal though). They make excellent snake guns with a load of 7 1/2 or 6 shot.I don't carry them on the boat.I use a paddle, stick, whatever for snakes.I really don't have much trouble with snakes. When I first discovered that we had several big gators in my lake,I got kinda spooked and started taking a .44 magnum because I was mainly out there from 4:30 AM until. When you're on a lake by yourself at 4:30 and a gator that looks as long as your boat(a 14 ft. jon boat at the time),you will get a little spooked.Don't think the gun would've done much good from what I'm told. Now,I'm used to the gators(they've never really messed with me;maybe a little curious the first couple of times that I encountered them),I don't carry firearms on the boat.I do keep a piece in the glove comp. of the truck.I've had a few late night "snakes" follow me into the launch area at 3:30 or 4:00 AM.I don't think they were looking for directions. When they saw the .44 mag slid in the front of my jeans ,they made a hasty retreat.
  21. I thought you coached??? Boy, Coaching must be a lot tougher these days! I teach at an alternative school. We get all the kids that have attacked their teachers, brandished guns at school, just got out of jail, etc,We were all issued vests and are supposed to wear them, but I don't very often. It's not as bad as it sounds.
  22. Glad to hear from ya,JT! Yeah, you're right.Glenn did an excellent job on the forums. It was worth the wait!
