  1. I'm really,really good with jerkbaits!PLEASE let me in the club...LOL
  2. Soft plastics fished weightless.I don't know if the Horny Toad is the best, but it's pretty darn good.I went Sat. morning and they wouldn't hit anything I tried.I rigged a white Horny Toad and buzzed it around and across grass mats.I'd let it slowly sink when it went in a pocket.I ended up catching 3 slot fish(18-22) and a couple of smaller bass.
  3. It's already been said, but keep the rod tip at or even below water's surface. This will keep his head down and prevent jumping. As for worm problems, I always bring my wormhook through the worm and just stick the point barely under the skin of the worm. This solves the problem for me.
  4. I fish like I want.I Vary speed, hit cover, etc. The bass "pros"didn't invent everything( as some may believe.).I'm out for fun ,not to win the Classic.
  5. I never use plastic trailers. Also,I can't remember the last time I got hung up,and I like to bring my spinnerbait through some thick wood cover.
  6. I won't start feeling fall weather until late October. It's a good time to fish in shalow water. My personal favorites are spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and suspending jerkbaits.
  7. 4 lb. test is pretty light line to be swinging them aboard.Either go to 8 lb. test,or lip them at the boat.might want to double check that drag, too.
  8. Welcome Javelin! You're now a member of the best forum out there.
  9. I use a trailer hooks with all spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. Why?I f they happen to be hitting short,it's better safe than sorry.
  10. Most of the bass that I've caught this summer on the c-rig have benn no problem detecting. When I've reeled in the slack(after dragging the weight a few feet),the fish have been on.
  11. Welcome Hawk. For bait on a c-rig,I've had most of my success on a Zoom 6" lizard, but all kinds of plastics can be used. From worms to senkos, finese worms, french fries, etc.I used a Sweet Beaver on my c-rig early this morning and caught a couple.
  12. Don't know if it's true or not.I've always been told by some pretty fair bass anglers that fishing is best 3 days before a full moon to 3 days after a full moon.I do know that I like fishing under a full moon.I went last night and am about to leave to go again tonight.
  13. I saw the segment on him recently, and he is a very courageous young man.
  14. LBH,that's exactly what I did with my 3 previous aluminum boats. It looks great, dampens unwanted sound, and you can stand and fish very comfortably.
  15. Welcome Strat! I have a sweet sounding stratocaster myself. Two great hobbies ,bassin' and playing a strat.
  16. I'd have to say Pittsburgh...NOT! I'd like to fish Toho.My son lives in Orlando.I could visit him and have a quality fishing experience.
  17. I've caught 'em in water from 1' to 8' on a buzzer.I've had most of my success in low light conditions.
  18. I gave up deer hunting 5 years ago.I fish for bass year 'round.I don't get a ton of bites, but when I do the bass is usually a giant.Caught a 9 pound fish in 17 ft. of water using a brown crawfish pattern deep diving c-bait last winter. It was 22 degrees outside. You'll have the lake to yourself.
  19. I really like the c-rig,but you said that's not where you want to go.A spinnerbait is an excellent deep water lure.My son caught a 24" slow rolling a chartruese s-bait in 15' of water(creek channel with tons of wood and grass cover).A deep diving c-bait,lipless c-bait,and a drop shot rig are good choices. The venerable, ole T-rig with a heavy weight will still get the job done.
  20. I bought my plug at Walmart,of all places, spliced it to the wire that connects to the battery, and I'm ready to go.
  21. In weather like this,I'll generally fish 4 AM-8 Am.Sometimes,I'll it the lake at 6 PM and fish until after dark.
  22. I've been using Zoom lizards in various colors,Zoom finese worms,Tiki-stiks,10" Bassassassin black w/ blue worm (at night).
  23. Yeah, got an email on that also. If I had $5000 laying aroung to throw away,I think I'd put a down payment on a top-of-the-line Nitro, not a fishing trip with Larry and Moe.
  24. Down here in South MS,the bass stopped hitting hard baits about the first week in July. You can catch 'em on plastics early and late and especially at night.Down here 100 degree heat with 80-100 % humidity is the norm.It really hasn't started getting hot ,yet, for us.
  25. About the only action I've got going is nightcrawlers at night for catfish.
