  1. Work Zoom Horny Toad over mats;let sink in holes in mats.
  2. Winter-suspending jerkbaits: Spring-spinnerbait: Summer-floating jerkbait,plastic worm:Fall-Suspending jerkbait,crankbait
  3. You ought to be able to get a decent jon boat or canoe for $ 100-200.Get a TM and you're in business.
  4. I'm pretty sure I'd get my ##!@!!% kicked.
  5. This happened this spring.A bass hits my topwater lure,I set the hook, and when I do the reel falls off of the rod into the lake .I grabbed the line pulled the reel back into the boat.I reattach the reel to the rod, cursing every breath. When I reel in the slack, the bass is still on.I start reeling, and the bass promptly comes up out of the water and throws my bait.More cursing.
  6. I see mostly Cottenmouths and copperheads.I see the occaisional rattler.Thankfully,I also see lots of Kingsnakes that help keep the poisonous snakes thinned out.Stepped on a small Kingsnake one time .He just had a look at me and went off on his merry way.
  7. Everyone has an opinion.Who really knows who is the Greatest?Just because some talking heads at ESPN says it,doesn't neccessarily make it true.I have a lot of favorites, and they'll still be my favorites after the "Greatest" is named.
  8. When you borrow your wife's red fingernail polish to "doctor" up your baits.
  9. Abel,it truly is about the total experience!I'm the same way.Being a coach,I have the whole Summer off.I fish 6 of 7 days aweek.I have my rig,Rod& Reels, baits, and yes coffee ready the night before.I geup a 3:00 AM and just sit having quiet time.Drink my coffee, dip my snuff, maybe watch the outdoor channel.I leave at 4:30 AM so I can be on my spot at 5:15 AM.It's great ain't it ?
  10. Well said,Warrior!
  11. I've done all of the above with highly differing results.I gotta be honest, with me a missed strike is usually just that.I'll try one of the above mentioned techniques, but for me it's usually "get over it" and get to the next target.

Bassing in Florida ? All the time? You lucky dawg...Lol. Welcome!!!
  13. Jerk'em,twitch'em,rip 'em,and swim 'em.Vary your speed and vary the length of your hesitation between movements.Eventually, you'll catch a fish. The whole time you're fishing you must focus so that when you do catch a bass, you'll remember exactly how you were working your bait. You just continue doing it that way until it dries up.Then you start experimenting again with different retrieves, speeds, and length of pauses.
  14. Welcome bassin' brother. You're at the best forum of 'em all.
  15. I've been trying to become a more complete basser.I've always been a shallow water guy.For the last 3 weeks,I've been asking you guys about C-rig fishing.I want to let you know I caught 5 1-2 lb.bass off a long point this morning in 14 ft. of water.I daught them on a C-rig.I used a 6" Zoom watermelon lizard on a 3/0 red Gammy EWG hook. Thanks for your tips.My dream of fishing shallow and deep structure is beginning to happen.
  16. I tried Ultimatebass and Kevin's bass site just for a change of pace.I don't go to those anymore! They are just not as good as Glenn's.I really feel at home here, and I never did on those other sites.Glenn,You truly do a fine job with this forum.
  17. Whatever you use, downsize your bait and use light line.
  18. Here in southern Mississippi 95-100 degree heat w/ 100 percent humidity is about average. You get used to it!The way I beat it in bass fishing is not to fish in it.No,I haven't quit fishing,But I fish only in low light conditions .Dawn to sunup, the last two hours of the day,and at night.
  19. Like Alloymiken I've used a white w/ black splatter mouse and also a chartruese mouse. They work well .
  20. In the heat of the Summer, the bass at my home lake have gone on a feeding frenzy when it rains. So yes,I do get a wee bit excited when the skies start clouding up!
  21. Topwater Stickbait or prop bait ?
  22. I float several creeks and rivers in this area in a canoe mainly for the small "tighteye" bass and bream.I'm thinking about getting a one man kayak for Xmas. The one I'm looking at is specially made for fishing. It's got storage for R&R,Tbox, and cooler mainly from the use of bungee cord and a recessed area for each.
  23. Yes,I'd love to host my own bassin' show, but I think it might get cancelled pretty quick.
  24. Grennel,Gaspergou,Jackfish,catfish,white perch,bream,turtle.
  25. Yeah, they serve their purpose;cover your scent and to make the bass hold on to the bait an extra second or two.
