  1. 1.Rio ***** jn Amazon Basin for Peacock bass 2.Mexico bass fishing 3.Southern California bass fishing
  2. I'm not a fan of his "antics" either,But he is a great bass fisherman.I'll buy it and read it because I want to learn whatever I can from a Classic champ. If I'm not fishing ,I want to be reading up on anything that can help.
  3. They are a big help. When the obvious ,shallow water patterns play out, and you have to go deep,I really depend on my depthfinder to pinpoint likely bass hangouts.
  4. From dawn to full sunup, various topwaters are a safe bet. When the sun finally tops out over the treeline,I go subsurface(Plastics,s-baits,c-baits).
  5. I seem to have more success when I use a red treble hook on hardbaits(j-baits,c-baits,etc.),but I can't see any difference on their use with plastics.
  6. Ceph,we've all been there...lol.
  7. You'll have much better control of your boat in the wind.I use a 40 lb. foot control MK All-TerrainI'm using it on a 15 ft. glass bassboat, and it's all I need. You'll appreciate the upgrade in enjoyment on your bassin' trips.
  8. I had the luck of having a father-in-law that was a successful tourney fisherman in the late 70's/ early 80's.I learned much of what I know about bassin' from him.To this day , I call him before most fishing outings to discuss strategy and after every outing to give results. He's a little too old now to fish a lot, but he still has a lot of knowledge. Also, I'd have to add experience on the water ,reading many magazines on it, watching plenty of the how-to bassin' TV shows, and forums just like this one.
  9. As 'puppy said, just go to walmart and they'll have whatever you need.I've done the same thing you're doing with your boat several times. It can be done.
  10. When I have a great fishing day,the cap I'm wearing becomes my "lucky fishing cap" .I'll wear it until the fishing drops off.I'll wear various caps until I have another great day.I'll wear that one until the fishing drops off again.
  11. I'm not catching much during the day,so I'm going to start night fishing.I read the suggestions on night baits.Would a black buzzbait and a black propbait work? How about a spinnerbait with a black skirt?
  12. Canoes, jons, kayaks are good choices, but if you only have a bike you'd have to leave it where you are fishing at.It could get stolen.Maybe you could get an adult you know(relative, friend of family, etc.) to transport it for you and pick you up( or go fishing with you).
  13. Deep water using c-rig;fish for cruising bass early and late;night fishing.
  14. Several places...Deep water, cover(grass, wood, manmade),and in the cool of the day, back to shallows to feed.
  15. Yeah, you could find an old jon or canoe for a hundred or so.I bought a canoe for $100.Bought several old jons over the years for little or nothing.Just ask around people that get into fishing.I have a co-worker right now that wants me to haul a jonboat out of her yard. She gave it to me just because it has a little leak. That can fixed with no problems.
  16. Hey Devil and welcome.Haven't I seen you on Kevin's site?
  17. It's a tough one!Nine AOY's vs. four BMC's.I'd have to vote Roland,though.
  18. I'd also have to say time on the water. Four years ago ,I really got serious about bassin'.I started bassin' Every Sat. and Sun. and during the Summer I have two and a half months off.I fish at least 5 days a week, sometimes more.even I am gonna pick up on bass behavior with that much time invested.
  19. Yeah, Just what Hipster said. Done it a few times w/ Minn-Kotas.
  20. Yes! Fillet and get the skin off,fry 'em up,and that's a good tasting meal.I'm releasing 'em nowdays, but the biologist at my home lake practically begs everybody to take out the 14 inches and under bass.We catch a lot of slot fish ( 18-22 inches) where I fish.
  21. I'm catch and release nowdays, but I have no problem with guys that want to keep and eat those pan sized bass.I kept 'em for years and thet do taste good filleted and fried.

Welcome to the site! It's a lot of fun. You'll learn a bunch ,too.Just a bunch of good guys that love Bassin'.
  23. For ahundred bucks you can find you a 12-14 ft Jon boat. For another couple a hundred get you nice transome mount TM...and your in business. You can add things like seats, floor, aused trailer for next to nothing. As time goes by ,get you a small used outboard. Before you know it ,you got yourself a rig that will go anywhere. That's how I started out.Or you can stick with your original idea. There's lots of options.
