  1. Thanks fellows!I'll put your advice to good use.
  2. Nice deal on the boat , josh. Now get out there and have a good time stretchin' your line!
  3. I'm fishing a large ,shallow flat (2-5ft.).It is littered with stumps and is full of submerged grass that is on the surface in the shalloest areas. What are some different baits, colors, techniques, and strategies for catching post spawn bass? The fish are there and I'm catching my share on Rogues,Rapalas, and spinnerbaits.I think I could do more with some different points of view.
  4. Fish lowilght conditions.When it gets warmer,fish early,late,and cloudy,overcast conditions.That will improve your chances.
  5. Welcome Zoso71.There's a lot of knowledge on this forum(your own too,I'm sure) and alot of fun. When it comes to fishing this is 2nd only to fishing itself.
  6. Welcome aboard R-58.I'm from Mississippi myself. This is the best of its kind out there. You can learn a lot and contribute also.
  7. My son(14 yr old) won't go fishing. He thinks it's boring(poor kid).On the other hand, he loves deer hunting, which I find boring.I take him all the same just so we can do things together.By the way,I have the same feeling about my fishing.I've been skunked a few times.
  8. Have some Frogg Toggs and keep it up.Stay out of the lightning...Lol.
  9. I don't think it should be a taboo subject.I don't use them personally. It's from an obsession for artificial baits though, not an objection to the use of live bait.
  10. 8-10 lb. test to get it deep.might have to go up if there's lots of thick cover.
  11. Although all of these different cover suggestions are valid,I prefer the grass(mainly because we're covered init down here). The fact that the grass produces a higher oxygen content also enters the decision.
  12. Been using it the last year .It's helped at the beginning of this season comparing what worked in what conditions.
  13. I fish the early bite like you,and I'm also from a very warm clime (south MS).I love the topwater action early .As the sun gets up,I hit the the eastern side of the lake for 30-45 more minutes of topwater bite before going deep.It works for me.
  14. Depending on the severity of the wind(I'm not fishin' in whitecaps fish or no),I prefer a good ripple on the surface. It makes the bass less spooked. It's like having a good cloud cover.
  15. I'm living in southern Mississippi.I fish on several public lakes near my home .All have been stocked over ten years with Florida bass.Hey Bamacoast, I pass by Grand Bay(on I-10) all the time on my way to Gulf Shores and Florida.Going to Destin at the end of May.
  16. I've toyed around with carving minnow floater/ divers. Not too bad,but I need to keep day job.
  17. I've been fishing out a point about 20 yards off shore and had a bass boat fishing down the bank come right between me and my target that I'm fishing .They never looked up ,said sorry ,hello , or ---- you.I was on some good fish at the time, and they just quit.
  18. You can catch plenty of bass off the shore.I prefer a boat because you can move around and get into places that you can't get to on shore.
  19. All good suggestions.Jig-n-pig,tube,C-rig,slow rolling spinnerbait.I'd even try a deep diving c-bait.
  20. Welcome! This is a very informative and fun place to be.You'll like it,I'm sure.
  21. Never fished in a tornado, but I have fished in some really bad storms with a tornado in the area.
  22. There are many variables.Water temp,water clarity,cloudy or sunny skies,flat surface or ripples,etc.
  23. I fish deep in the creek channels and dropoffs.
  24. We are going to have a BPS in Jackson in '06.It's 90 miles from where I live. Also there's a BPS in Destin/Ft. Walton Beach,Fl. which is a 3 hour drive from my home .We vacation there every year and do a lot of shopping there.
