  1. For those that have used both, how would you compare them? I am interested in the M and MH models. I've heard the CBR 783 is too whippy for some? Just wondering how the AVC66MM would compare. Looking for similar information between the CBR 845 and AVC70MHM. Which one would be better suited for throwing an occasional DD22? Thanks for your insight.
  2. Chronarch 50/51Mg is the easiest reel I have ever casted, and I am in my first full year of using a baitcaster. Revo S is also good, but I had a heck of a time with the SX. I also second the new Curado, but I just had an isolated problem with it rubbing against my thumb. I would have 2 or 3 if it wasn't for that. The only other reels that I have thrown are a Daiwa Sol and Fuego. I still have the Sol and sold the Fuego. If you can find a 50/51 chronarch I would pick one up; otherwise look at a Curados.
  3. 2" PVC for Casting and 3" for Spinning rods. I wish home depot carried a 2.5", but they don't at the one closest to my store. You also have to buy it in 10' sections even if you have it cut to 7ft. I do not try to ship in cardboard tubes as I have had 2 break being shipped to me and 1 break being shipped to another person. Two were FedEx and one was USPS. I have no idea what those guys do with the tubes... It will cost you around $13-22 depending on where it is going. They sometimes charge me the oversized fee, but sometimes don't. I do not know enough about shipping rates to fight it. Oh, and I usually use cardboard and duct tape to seal the ends up nice.
  4. Is anybody having problems with the newer ACS reel seats? I think it is a great concept, but my hand feels cramped on it. I just picked up a falcon with an ACS seet and I really don't think I it feels right. Do you think it is just because I am used to the ECS seet? Also, does it look like this is the route new rods are going? Looking forward to some peoples input on this.
  5. Junk! I have only used two flourocarbon lines and I will stick with Trilene 100% for now.
  6. #6 or #8 I also do not think BPS carries UltraSoft, but I could be wrong. I know for sure in the two Chicago stores they do not. I do know that Cabelas carries UltraSoft, but does not carry the plain ole Hybrid.
  7. Used Avid 68MXF or I would second the Crucual 68MXF dropshot rod.
  8. Are you getting the Crankin Stick on sale? It is a good deal on sale, but not so much if you are paying full price. On a side note, I sold mine for a Shimano Compre. I think it is real similar to the Crucial CB rod; same TC4 construction. Just something to think about before you pull the trigger.
  9. I throw 12# with no problem.
  10. Definitely not the Medium. I had it and it was great for shallow to medium divers (0-8'), but deeper than that I would go with the MH. 7'6 if you are throwing real deep stuff.
  11. Try *** version of the Brush Hog. You will save a ton over the course of the season.
  12. Dobyns 704C Chronarch 101D7 12lb P-line CXX Spro Poppin Frog/Horny Toads
  13. You my friend have found the problem most of us left handed crankers have when searching for a cb reel. Micro did a great job breaking the most popular ones down. I would add to those three an older Shimano Chronarch 101BPV. I have not used any of these, but I can imagine the Chronarch would be smoother than the Curado and throw light cranks well. I do not know how it would compare to the Daiwa however. I am in the same boat as you. I ended up getting a Revo S for my medium/deep divers with the idea to put 5:1 gears in it. I decided against the gear swap and just crank slower for now. I plan to move the Revo S to a flippin rod once a new LH crankin reel comes out. I am hoping by the end of July I will have my eyes on a LH Chronarch D5 if Shimano puts one out at ICAST. If not, I may be forced to pick up the Daiwa. If you can wait, maybe see what Shimano has up their sleeve in the next few weeks before making a purchase.
  14. Sorry, I thought I already did. I think it was posted in a different thread. It's the same...uicdent11.
  15. fisher and bassin, I will add you guys tomorrow. I forgot about this thread, but found it again tonight. I agree with everything said about why they prefer PS3 over 360; especially the Blu-Ray player. WAW is also far superior in gameplay and especially graphics than COD4. COD4 ruins a large screen in 1080p. I better get going, "Enemy recon plane is right above us."
  16. 10 and 12 work fine on that reel here. I think we can all agree you got a bad spool. I wouldn't abandon the 10# though. Maybe get a new spool and throw a less expensive lure. I actually prefer 10 to 12. CXX is great stuff too.
  17. I use both those listed;however, I am hoping Shimano comes out with a lefty D5 for a deep cranking reel. I guess I will just have to wait and see.
  18. If you use a RH reel: Chronarch D5 for Cranking and D7 for jigging If you use a LH reel: Daiwa Sol for Cranking and and " " "
  19. I love my 2000 and 2500 Sol. If you decide to get one just don't buy one from Nick Lange! * I would like to try the new Fuego, just can't see spending the money for it when you can pick up a Sol for $110-$120.
  20. You'll love that reel. It is also a fairly easy reel to learn on. Keep us posted on how it goes.
  21. I think it is the big blades and buzzbaits that I need to throw with it. I will throw the lighter stuff on either a 6'3 Crucial or 7' Compre CB rod. This will allow me to still use the Avid for plastics on the occasion that I am not throwing them on spinning gear. With your help, I think I have answered my original question. Thanks again.
