  1. War, I mean that the rod tip is too fast and it seems to load up rather quickly for spinnerbaits/buzzbaits.It has the action that I think (thought) most like in a soft plastics rod. From reading each of your responses, I think it is only fair to give it a try next time I am out. I really don't have much experience comparing rods yet and I appreciate all your help.
  2. For each his own.
  3. I do not think it is worth it. I actually prefer the S to the SX, but that could be that I favor the centrifugal braking system. From my experience, these two reels handle completely different. If you like the S then I don't think you could go wrong with another. *If you wanted to try a different reel then I would go with a Citica or Curado. Same braking system as the S.
  4. I know there is a XBOX360 thread, but I was wondering if there are a select few that play on the PS3 platform? Actually even it you don't play COD, let me know what you are playing.
  5. I usually don't watch hockey, but this is great! Time to tap the rockies again...
  6. On hold.... I thought all you had to do was mail one in and they would send you a brand new one. They've taken the "trade up" program to a whole new level.
  7. Just wondering if any of you throw spinnerbaits on either a 6'6 or 7'0 MH Avid? I find the action too fast for moving baits. This is why I have the rod of for trade. For those that have this rod, what are your uses? I really like throwing plastics with it, but this means that I have to throw spinnerbaits on my cranking setup. Am I asking too much of a rod to handle spinnerbaits, some topwater, and occasional plastics?
  8. Gotcha. I never knew we had a 100mg; that answers my question. So the Chronarch line will look something like this? 50: Aldebaran, only with an American name that starts with C. 100: Core 200: Chronarch D Correct me if I am wrong Natural.
  9. I'd love to see a Chronarch LH crankin reel. As for the Aldebaran, wouldn't this run in direct competition with the Core?
  10. Revo S or Citica. Bought a Revo for $71 shipped on ebay. I know you don't like ebay, but a trusted seller and paypal give you a lot of confidence.
  11. Left-handed would have the crank left side. As for which one is better and why; use the search feature and you will probably find numerous posts over the years. I prefer lefty myself.
  12. I know it is not up there, but my vote is a Daiwa Sol. Had a new Stradic and sold it in favor of the Daiwa. I found two online for $120 and it is comparable to what you are looking for. Just my $.02
  13. Just wondering what you guys thought of this Copolymer line. I bought two spools of 8 and 10# at the Cabela's sidewalk sale for $2 and change today. I have really taken a liking to Yo Zuri line this season, but for $2 I figured it was worth a shot. I could always throw it to a friend if I had too.
  14. If you already like the action of your crankin stick then I would get a 7ft Compre. It is a lot faster than the premier. I am in the same boat as you and going to Cabelas tomorrow to swap a rod, long story, for either a 6'6 or 7ft. M Compre. I think, IMO, that the premier is too slow for fishing spinnerbaits. The compre is a nice compromise and I like a slightly faster rod for ripping cranks and spinnerbaits out of cover. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions. I
  15. Get the D. I fished with a B for a little while and I liked it, but it was a little heavy. I am not small person, but I just love light gear. The D was also much smoother than the B. If you have the cash for a new D, then I would go for it. You will never look back. Also, I do not think one reel will work for both those techniques. If you are looking for a cranking reel, then go with the 5:1 D; a finesse reel, then it's the 7:1. If both rods need a reel and you have $500 then there is the answer. *Also look at the Curado E's.
  16. I'd sell you a 6'3 St. Croix M XF rod for $90 shipped. I measured it against another 6'0 rod and the exposed rod is the exact same length.(5ft. from top of cork to end of last guide). The rear grip cork on the st. croix is where they put the extra 3 inches. I think it would suit your needs just fine. Let me know if you are interested. I have pics available. As for a reel, you can find great deals in the flea market. Any shimano or daiwa reel that is in your budget would work great. Quantums seem pretty smooth, but they are a probably too heavy for such a short/light rod.
  17. I would add the 704 as well. I know you prefer longer rods brokeju, but I have fallen in love with this rod.
  18. At least a 7' rod. Never a 5:1 reel.
  19. That rod is a little too fast for fishing traps. Don't get me wrong I used to fish two bionic blades exclusively, but I always had similar problems. Fish on then off multiple times in one outing and I decided to dedicate that rod to just plastics. It may be worth your while to get a BPS crankin stick for traps and other cranks. Good luck.
  20. No PS3'ers?
  21. My wife is playing WAW as I type this. We also have COD4, but I haven't played it since WAW came out. The graphics are so much better. For those that play it on PS3, what are your SN's? Mine is located to the left of this post.
  22. Line: I like Yo Zuri Ultra Soft 6 or 8lb. (If you have a deeper spool, I sometimes add 20lb backing) I had some issues in the past with Pline Floroclear, but it has been growing on me this year. These are both copolymer lines. Rod: I understand it is a future purchase, but I really like the Shimano Compre line for an introductory rod. Great warranty too. Make sure you get a good rod. A good rod will help you catch more fish than a good reel. Good luck in your purchases. Btw, I am also a poor college student; I just have a wife that works full-time.
  23. Reels: Revo S, Citica 200 Rods: Shimano Compre or St. Croix Mojo/Premier I would look to ebay for both. Everything I listed can be had anywhere from $60-80 through bidding. Good luck. *Think about trying out a LH baitcaster if you are just starting out. I made the switch early on and I love it.
  24. I am assuming you mean $40 each for a reel/rod setup. If this is the case, I would try and find a Bass Pro Shops Extreme reel on sale. They may still have some of last years for $39. Then wait for a BPS Crankin Stick to go on sale for $40. I think it would be great for cranks, good for spinnerbaits, and ok for jigs.
