Rod Upgrade: Compre vs Premier
I am going to upgrade my crankbait rod and have narrowed it down to these two. CPC-C66MB or PC66MM? Which one would you choose? I am specifically looking at the 6'6 medium for throwing shallow to medium divers. Thanks again for all your help.

Topwater Rod Questions
I have researched the forum for answers to a good all around topwater rod. I have learned that there is no "one rod does all" when it comes to topwater. I am specifically looking for help on what to use for throwing buzzbaits. Shimano states that a medium/heavy extra fast crucial could be used. I can only assume that most would think that an XF action would be too fast. Here are the rods I have to work with: Dobyns 704C: Probably too heavy of a rod for buzzbaits Compre 6'10 MH/XF: I would think it would be too fast BPS Cranking Stick 6'6 M/F: more moderate than fast action Avid or Crucial 6'6 MF ( in near future):? Just looking for any input you may have. Thanks for your help.

What Is A Good Baitcaster For Throwing Crankbaits?
Daiwa Sol for most of my cranking needs. I usually throw cranks in 1'-8' water and this reel works fine for those needs. If I do throw anything deeper I would use a Shimano Chronarch 101B.

new reel for an avid 7' m fast action???
Chronarch 100D or the Core if you have $350 to spend. You could also go the JDM route and look at Daiwa Pixy or Alpha. Of course if you wanted to save some of the $350 I would highly recommend a 50Mg or Daiwa Sol. I really don't think you could go wrong with any of these reels.

Quick Question: Curado E7 or MG?
You will have your reel to try by Friday at the latest. Great company to buy from.

Quick Question: Curado E7 or MG?
If you are throwing light cranks, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits; I would go with the 51Mg. I have used mine up to 1/2 oz, but it excels when throwing under 3/8 oz lures. Keep in mind that the e7 takes up a lot of line, well at least a lot more than the Mg. Something to consider when throwing moving baits, especially cranking. I prefer a slower retrieve most of the time so I opt for the 51Mg for lighter stuff and 101B for the heavier. I just prefer not to slow down my retrieve, such is the case for me with a 7:0 gear ratio reel. Just my $.02 .

Which floating frog?
That is the model spro I got. Looks like it has great action and I am looking forward to throwing it this year.

Which floating frog?
I have always used the soft plastic ones such as *** and zoom, but just recently bought a new spro. I have had great luck with the soft plastics, but I have had problems with them flipping over. These do sink, but you really never work them that slow for it to affect them. I usually burn them across the pads or grass at a pretty high rate and have no problems missing fish or getting the hook caught up.

Cabelas XML Rods
I have a couple questions for you guys that already have these rods. 1. What action do these rods have? Customer Service said they weren't listed but said they are most likely mod to mod/fast. Is this accurate? 2. How would the sensitivity compare to a shimano crucial? I am looking for a good 6'6 medium fast action rod and the sale on these got me interested. Thanks

Crankbait Rod Suggestions
7'0 MH BPS Cranking Stick, especially when they are on sale for $40. I have never used a St. Croix Premier cranking rod, but a lot of people on here like them for a good inexpensive rod.

Need some info and comments on these 3 popular rods!!
Crucial, but I would recommend the 6'10 MH XF. I have actually broken a tip on my crucial drop shot rod, but I will admit that it was all my fault. Pulled the fish into the boat, only 3.5lb fish, and set the rod down perpendicular to the floor of the boat with my right hand and tried to lip the fish with my left. Well, I did not have enough line out and so as you can probably picture it, the fish was basically dangling in the air for all of 5 seconds and then SNAP! Broke just after the 2nd guide. Cut the rod in half and sent back to Shimano for $4 and change. Got the replacement in 5 days and couldn't be happier with the service. This was my first higher end rod so I do not have much to compare it too, but I am sold for now.

How to use a centrifugal break to your adv. ?
2 brakes on works best for me as well when using cent. braking. I set the spool tension knob so that the lure/soft plastic free falls slowly to the ground. You can take more tension off the knob as you get better at thumbing the spool.

Couple of questions on a Spinning Reel
PTi-A in a 20. My wife uses it and loves it. It cranks smoother than my stradic. We will see how it holds up after a season or two. I was set on a Shimano Saros until I found a Stradic for the same price in the flea market on here. The Energy feels heavier than the stradic, but I do not know the specific weight of the energy. These are the only spinning reels I have tried in your price range so I am not much help outside of them. Looks like the Energy weighs about 10.7oz ( This is the weight of the PTi-.

Couple of questions on a Spinning Reel
Anyway you could get Dick's to check another of their stores and have it shipped to the one closest to you? I know they honor Sports Authority coupons btw.

Couple of questions on a Spinning Reel
Nevermind, the pt20 holds 100 yards 8# and the 2500 Stradic holds 140. However, the pt30 holds 160. I guess it is right in between the two. Sorry for the confusion nonetheless. I would still look at the 20 size, I think it has more than enough line capacity for bass fishing.

Couple of questions on a Spinning Reel
Yes, the 20 is pretty close to a 2500. Let me check, I have both sitting in the other room.

is braided the better choice?
What is the mono equivalent to 8# braid anyways? I can't imagine line so thin.

And you didn't get the Symetre with the coupon??? Just kidding. Also, go with the 20 if you decide on the Energy.
