Fast or X-Fast for moving topwater rod?
7' MHF for frogs/buzzbaits and 6'6 MF for spooks, poppers, and props sound about right then? You wouldn't go as far as a moderate-fast rod for frogs/buzzbaits would you? Thanks for the quick response.

If you are not chugging the beer pong cups then you are missing out on drinking all the fun things that are floating around in them. I would also suggest getting a couple red Solo cups and practice flipping them from the edge of your table so that they land upside down. Heck, with these tough economic times you could probably use the same cups you practice beer pong with. Unlike beer pong, which can take awhile, flippie-cup will get you where you want to be in a hurry.

Fast or X-Fast for moving topwater rod?
What tip action is preferred for fishing frogs(ex. horny toads) and buzzbaits? Also, would you use a different rod for throwing spooks, poppers, and prop baits? Thanks

Here is an article from 2001 from the American Psychological Assoc. http://www.apa.org/monitor/jan01/suicide.html

Interesting, do you happen to have the article? I know there was one done back in I think 1971, but their conclusion was that it was because everyone hates the dentist and they are lower in prestige than doctors. I think that the recent numbers point towards Vets, EMT's, ER docs and family physicians. I would be interested to hear what you have learned.

Yea I almost jumped off a cliff when I got in. I find it funny that suicide always comes up when you bring up dentistry. There is no truth to the statement.

Good all around reel
Shimano Citica or Curado come to mind. If you like Diawa, look for a used Fuego or Sol (if you want a lower gear ratio and small reel). If you are willing to spend a little more, look for a used Shimano Chronarch 50Mg. If you like a left handed reel then you can pick one up from *** for $186 new! Great reel, but I do not think you could go wrong with any of the others.

Difference btwn St. Croix AVC and AC rods
My next question, is it worth it? Anybody fished each of these care to comment? I ask because I am in the market for a 6'6 MF all around rod and I am looking at the avids. It seems you can get an AC used for a pretty good price on the net.

Difference btwn St. Croix AVC and AC rods
Just wondering what the difference was? Is the AC and older model? If so, did they make any changes to the rod? Thanks

I will second what bassdocktor has just said. To be more specific it usually comes down to physics, microbio, and calc. Some schools require all and some require one or two. I am speaking for the dental part, but I am sure it is the same for Med and Pharm. Even if you pick the pre-dental track at your school and it doesn't cover the requirements for a post grad school you are looking it, you can just take those classes as your electives. The first 2 years at any major university for a pre anything in Bio or Chem is going to be the same.

I've thrown 3 of the 4 you mention. Curado, SX, and Mg. Again, I am a noob and not an expert tackle reviewer, but I can give you my honest opinion still. Revo SX: Fished it a little last year when I before and after I switched to LH retrieve. It did take a lot more fine tuning to get used to the braking system. Once you got it dialed in it is a great reel. But, if you change the weight of your lure, you will probably need to readjust the settings each time. It does have the best drag of the 3 reels. Curado E: Only used it for 2 days this year before selling it for the reason I will state. It somehow caused a blister to form on my right hand when casting. I have not heard anybody else have this problem, but I did. Besides that, the reel is extremely smooth and the braking is great. Not as finicky as the SX, but both are just as smooth. The E does have a lot more power than the Mg and similar to the SX. Chronarch Mg: The reel weighs the least and 2oz less than the next lightest (Curado). It is great for throwing anything from 3/16 oz up to 1/2 oz. It is very smooth and although it has a lesser bearing count than say the SX, each of the 5 bearings are high grade A-RB. Like I said before, this reel is a great reel to learn on and I am sure I will have mine for many years to come. I think adclem brought up a great point about getting a mojo or premier to save money for the Mg. I think they are both made on the same blank and you can decide if you like the split grip or not. This is the route I would go. And actually, I am thinking about upgrading from my BPS bionic blade (way to heavy for my mg) to one of these two or avid in the near future. Keep us posted on what you end up doing. I forgot to add that I did just get a Sol, but it is still in the mail. So I can't really compare yet. I think you can demo them for the cost of shipping from *** as well.

I don't know if this reel is a little out of your price range, but I would highly recommend a shimano chronarch 51mg. They are currently on sale for $186 at ***.com. I'm also a noob to baitcasters, but this reel makes learning easy and fun. Impossible to backlash and throws lighter (1/4 oz) lures/plastics with ease. I felt it was so easy to learn on that I bought one for my wife. If it is out of your price range, any of those you mentioned should work great. I would recommend a shimano as I find their braking system is a lot easier to get used to. I would also add that a Daiwa Sol could be another option especially in the price range of those you've listed. Seems that they are going for $140-160 lately. Good luck.

Spinning reel with 7:1 gear ratio?
No problem

Whats your Cranking Set Up?
6'6 BPS Crankin Stick/Daiwa SOL/12# Yo Zuri Hybrid I almost exclusively throw shallow to mid cranks and do not have a need for a deep crank setup yet.

Spinning reel with 7:1 gear ratio?
I do not think they make a 7:1 spinning reel. If they do, I have never seen one. One thing to keep in mind is line retrieval per crank aka inches per turn. A 1000 size shimano will take up just about as much line per crank than a 7:1 baitcaster. (28"). Check fish.shimano.com for all the specifications on each reel and you can compare inches per turn of a spinning reel and baitcaster. Also, just one step up to a 2500 series increases the line pick up to roughly 34" per crank. I hope this helps.

Gotcha. I was Biology for the first year and then switched to Biomedical Sciences in the health sciences college. Yea, the whole pre professional track is very similar for all post graduate schools. Let me know if you have any questions. I just graduated in 2006 from college and am currently just finishing up my 2nd year of dental school in Chicago right now. I would be more than willing to help you out in any way. As far as choosing medicine or dentistry, well...., you know what would get my vote. haha.

Congrats and good luck with the premed track. Do they have a premed major or do you have to pick a major such as Bio or Chem?

Interesting information you bring up and I actually think I've heard this somewhere else before. However, not everybody wants to go into a trade of some sort. It would be interesting if they looked at the incomes of those who went to college vs. those who didn't go to college over their lifetimes. I would imagine the numbers would tell a different story. I would never knock anybody that decides to go into a trade. I believe we all have our talents and it is up to use to find them/utilize them best. For me, and sounds like yourself, it was to go to college. I would never take back my experience in undergrad. It has put me in a situation to do what I love once I graduate. If this love would have been going into the trades, well, then I just wasted $250,000 and nine years of my life pursuing nothing. It would have made sense to not go to college in that situation. It is my hope that everyone has a chance to do what they love day in and day out. Sadly, it just isn't reality. As for saving money, I would agree with what senko stated about not eating out as much. I was shocked when I started keeping track of how much we were eating out. Try to chart it in an excel document, you may be as surprised as I was.
