  1. A lot of people use the 874/5 as their frog rod. We do not have much cover here in N. Illinois so I thought about the new TWFR 854. I also throw a lot of buzzfrogs and according to Bantam, the tip action was made for them. The other frog rod is just a little too long for my liking right now. He also assured me that there is a difference in the action between the bcr854 and twfr854. I would have it for Christmas if it wasn't for some bills we have coming.
  2. I have the 854 and agree that it would be your rod for thicker stuff. The only question I have about your list is the 803 for 6" worms. If you fish it weightless you may be ok, but according to several members the weight range for the 803 is around 3/8oz. Might want to look into the longer 853 for that application. This is just my opinion.
  3. Glad you're safe. A good reminder as the cold weather moves in for the next couple months.
  4. All great suggestions on rods. Might want to try and hold a M and ML of the same rod before you decide. I like more power in my rods which I why I prefer a medium. The only ML rods I feel have the power I like are St. Croix. Are you buying from a retail store or online?
  5. Enjoy. Heck, I bought one knowing that I didn't like the bump on that back that rubbed against my hand. (201E7) I figured I would just have to adjust my casting technique.
  6. If you don't mind split grips then I would look at the Shimano Crucial 6'8 or 7'2 Medium drop shot rods. If you prefer a full grip then look at the St. Croix Avid AVS70MLF. I have used the 6'8 Crucial and the same model Avid in the Legend Elite line. Both are great rods. There are others in that price range, but these are the only two I have used.

Dock, do you have Modern Warefare 2? I see you playing Fallout quite a bit.

What a floozy, skeezy, ******. Ok, I'm done.
  9. Check the flea market on here. I would consider a good deal anywhere from $225-$260 shipped for any model GLX. Keep your eyes open bc they usually go fast.

"Skeezy".... I haven't heard that word in a long time, but I think it fits him perfectly. ;D

In response to jarednk about a certain member that posts on several boards, I did some research and came up with this link. It is the same link basspro posted in the vendetta rods thread. Take what you want, but it doesn't look good. Many have probably bought from this guy. Now what? http://www.myfoxdfw.com/dpp/news/man-accused-of-swapping-price-tags
  12. Ive used both in the Shimano Compre line which uses the same TC4 construction. I liked them a lot and would have held on to them, but I wanted a lighter cb rod. The The Compre just felt a little heavy with the lighter reels I had on them. My guess is that the Crucial is lighter and more balanced. Go with the MH Mod/Fast for sure. You will not have fun, even occasionally, throwing a DD22 on a medium crankbait rod.
  13. That Avid (AVC70MF) can be had for $130 at ***.com. I think it would work ok for what you want.
  14. Weightless senkos: Curado E7 Weightless trick worms: Chronarch 50Mg There is a big weight difference between the two. There is no doubt you could throw trick worms with an E7, I just think the mg would work better. Worms with 4/0 and 5/0 hooks are probably pretty heavy I am assuming so you would be fine with the E. However, if you could find an mg for around what you are willing to spend then I would ****** it up in a heartbeat. It can do a lot of everything.
  15. Just made an order from Reel Mechanic and looking forward to breaking down my reels during the off season.
  16. If you can't remember then it is time for a new one.
  17. Thanks everyone for your support. I just got back from the hospital where she is recovering. They usually do this procedure as outpatient, but because they fused an extra level, they will keep her overnight. Doc says everything went well. I just hope he doesn't mind writing a letter to insurance about that dang brace. $1700, but they did say we could pay it in two installments of $850. GREAT! All because they had to have a "special" one. : She should be home tomorrow. I truly appreciate your prayers and support guys. I know she will read all your responses. Hopefully we can both meet some of you all at the road trip in the near future. Jon
  18. Prayers for your friend.
  19. Thank you guys so much. I wanted to add a pic to show that she does do some fishing herself. This is also the pic on the left. The pond in the background helped get her "hooked" on fishing.
  20. My wife is schedule for what's called a tru-fuse back surgery this Wednesday. They will remove bone in her lower back and replace it with cadaver bone. It will fuse L4,L5, and S1. Although she is only 25, she has had chronic back pain for several years now. It all stems from a fall down the stairs when she was younger, hitting the outside bar of a trampoline, and many years and dance/cheerleading. We have spent the last several months going from Dr. to Dr. and from medication to medication with no relief. The pain specialist finally decided she would be a good candidate for this surgery. Well, the claim from my schools insurance for the surgery was denied, but after getting a second opinion she is a go for the surgery. Of course they can't fit her for a back brace that is covered by insurance so we have to fork out 5 Loomis GLX rods for the brace. I need to stay off the flea market page for awhile. Please pray that she will be pain free post surgery and will have a speedy recover. She has missed several days of work because of the pain and doctors visits. I am still in school, so it will be a tough couple months. Thank you for keeping her in your prayers.
  21. I don't know why I didn't think of that. Thanks.
  22. Reel mech., I had a question for you about an order, but it won't let me pm you.
  23. No problems anymore Nick. You did apologize and state what happened and I do commend you for that. I truly appreciate it. I just wanted to update the board for those that remembered the incident. I understand you post on several forums and I do not want someone to search the forum and not do business with you in the future because of anything I said previously. We are on good terms and I would now recommend you as a buyer/seller. Glad to see you are back posting.
  24. Some of you might remember a thread I had back in the late Spring of this year. It is now locked, but you can search iFisch and you will be able to find the thread. I bought a reel for $120 via money order and I never got the reel. Well, I figured since he did not answer my 10+ emails I was scammed. So I am searching through TT last week and I see a familiar name, IFisch, the same name the guy used on this site. I looked at his profile and sure enough it was the same kid from Fla. I sent him a pm asking for him to man up and send the money. To my surprise he responded with a nice message about how he was sorry. I guess he was hospitalized right after our deal and had his work ship the reel. I guess it got sent to the wrong address so he says. He offered to pay me the money back or ship me a NIB $250 reel. 2 day UPS. I decided I would take the reel offer. Well, it got here today and Nick was extremely responsive to all my pms (on TT) while we figured this all out. I guess he isn't a terrible kid after-all, but I will never send a MO again because of this. Between this, getting the $ from USPS (in another post), and getting the afternoon off in clinic; it has been a great day. Now if it were only Spring...
  25. Well, to my surprise, I got a check from USPS for the insurance amount plus the shipping cost (minus the cost of insurance). I filed a claim through their 1800 #, but never got a call back. The seller filed a claim online and uploaded the pictures and it updated to "approved Weds. and I got the check today. Not bad at all USPS I guess I even get a new rod out of the deal.
