JoePhish thanks. I bought that hat & a tee shirt from Lotts this winter. SouthFLA recommended the place. I figured as long as I 'm wearing that hat Robert will know that is a current photo not one of last years. LOL

Here is my first smallie of this year. caught her yesterday on a jerkbait. She was 19.5 long. Weighed 5lb -7 oz.. That's 5.4375 divided by 8.50 Pa state record times 100 for a score of 63.97. A little motivation for A-Jay.

Hit the lake yesterday for the first time. Found the water to be pretty dirty with visibility around a foot or two. Water surface temp close to shore was 43-44 degrees. Tried in shallow between 8-12 feet. Missed one on a hair jig & then another one on a jerk bait. Decided to look for cleaner water further down the shore line. Found clean water in 25-30 feet but water temps at the surface were now 38-39 degrees. As the wind picked up out of the east there developed an edge between the dirty & clean water around 15-20 fow. I decided to work the edge as the temps were a little warmer & visibility was much better. Changed colors on my lc poiter 100 jerkbait & finally got bit. Nice size smallie for the first brown fish of 2011.

Quality for sure. I have had it both ways on a new PB. One time it came on the first day of a week trip & another time it came as the last cast of a weeks trip. Both scenarios were sweet for me. Not so much for fishing buddies.

Hopes she recovers ok. There will always be another road trip.

My rule of thumb is jerkbaits prespawn & crank baits starting with postspawn until the water starts cooling back down in the fall. Then it's back to the jerkbaits.

Good report. It can only get better as it sloooooowly warms up.
