  1. DanielR make sure you give us a report after you try them.
  2. Good reports JF. That 6lb lunker was a beast.
  3. I use them for smallies with 10lb braid & short leader for baitsfrom 1/4oz up to 1/2oz. I used one this June for a week of pike fishing casting baits up to and including 1oz with 20lb braid. Very versatile reel.
  4. My newly favorite dropshot rig is a NRX 802C JWR with a core50MG7 using 10lb suffix performance braid. I decide to spoil myself.
  5. I prefer baitcasting gear. Better control on the drop by thumbing the spool & a quicker hook set if bit on the drop. You can set the hook without engaging the reel by thumb pressure. Most of my dropshotting is at 20 feet or deeper. Line tension knob also allows fine tuning the rate of descent.
  6. Bone-headjig, those are nice looking jigs.
  7. When the surface temps fall into the 50 degree range.
  8. A-Jay ,you know what they say about 747's? Almost to big to fly. Great pair of ladies.
  9. Amazing. Did she have any close calls? She appeared to be pretty close in some of the wildlife shots.
  10. Went over to lake chautauqua with a buddy to do some muskie fishing. Hit the lake for three days totalling 35 hours. No hits the first day. Three hits the 2nd day with two fish landed. Two swipes the third day with no hookups. Post cold front with the start of turnover. Talk about tough fishing. Here is the best of the two landed.
  11. That's a real sweet PB.
  12. I would like to see a fight between the honey badger and a wolverine.
  13. Those lc cranks hold up & land some pretty big fish. I'll bet that baby took you for a heck of a ride. Nice job.
  14. Good report John. The kids definitely a chip of the old block. ;)
  15. Congratulations. Remember a happy wife means more fishing time!
  16. Pointers hands down. But if you want less expensive try a rapala husky jerk. They come in shallow & deep divers.
  17. Rusty get some 800 series reef runners. They dive down 28 feet on 10lb mono or 30lb braid. You can troll them straight line or with boards. Rapala husky jerks deep divers & rapala taildancers work well too. The huskys run about 15-18 deep. The taildancers will run 20 feet in the TDD-9 & the TDD-11 run 30 feet deep. You can troll 1.8 to 2.4 mph when the waters warm & slow down when it gets cold.
  18. You can't go wrong with an avid.
  19. RW, I use the leech mostly for pike like this. I know one of his customers caught his PB largemouth on one. I haven't used them much for smallies because the perch patterns mimic the the perch forage in erie so much. All black is good in dirty water as well as clear water. Give them a try.
  20. Nice fish A-jay. Make sure your wife gets a bigger one.
  21. RW I mostly use 1/8, 1/4 & 3/8 oz. These hair jigs are available by internet order from jensenjigs.com. I use the standard yellow perch, green perch & alwive for smallies. I use them tipped with 2-3 inch lake shinners or small bass minnows Some times just use them plain. Lake erie temps have dropped from 77 degrees to 69 over the last two weeks. I can't wait for our "season" to start.
  22. RW that's because the fish in your avatar look so big they look make believe. Having said that what are the specs on your fairy wand?
  23. I thought I was looking at another Big-O post. Very impressive!
