  1. I catch them from the same areas in Lake Erie with some limited overlap at the same time. Usually it’s one or the other. There are resident walleye that stay put in general areas that aren’t part of the migrating schools that make a loop around the lake from west to east then back west once a year. Those residents are the ones overlapping the same spaces as the smallies.
  2. I had to look twice at this photo with what looked like two blades. The treble hook feather fooled into thinking there was a 2nd blade on that inline spinner.
  3. Carbon fiber has replaced cork as my new favorite. Non slippery & more sensitive as well as lighter.
  4. There is probably now going to be new categories for record fish caught. Pre FFS & post FFS. We will all have to have new PB categories. Surely a PB caught before the use of FFS will carry more weight than a PB caught with the aid of FFS. It will be like the MLB home run records. The FFS records will have an asterisk next to them like the steroid records.
  5. Time to switch places with him.
  6. @thediscochef @you i have caught hundreds of walleye & never have I had one bite me off. Just pike, musky & pickerel. Mud fish bite offs are also rare. It’s all about the spacing of the teeth that determine if your likely to get bit off not that some fish have teeth.
  7. Hall of fame linebacker Dick Butkus died today. He was one of the very best linebackers to ever play in the NFL. A true classic defensive players that all offense players feared. May he RIP.
  8. It runs in my dad's side of the family. Both of his parents were diabetic as well as one brother & sister. His brother was overweight & had both legs amputated above the knees because of complications from it. Fortunately it skipped over me.
  9. Clayton is a hammer. WTG
  10. You need to look at the breakage figures for braid to determine how low you can go with poundage selection. Most 10lb braids break at around 17lbs of pressure when placed on testing equipment that measures line test strength. I know this from a trip to IGFA headquarters in Davie FL years to test the strength of various 10lb braids. Using the same data for higher weight clases would put 15lb braid at around 22lbs before breakage & 20lb braid at 27lbs before breaking. The only exclusion to this data would be the Japanese braids that rate closer to actual test strength but are much thinner in diameter. I use 10lb braid in open water & 20lb braid in heavy cover on spinning tackle.
  11. Blade bait would be my first choice.
  12. Couldn't let my buddy get one up on me so I pulled the trigger on a new spinner.
  13. Congrats on your GA slam.
  14. Yes it can & especially with smaller baits like spy baits.
  15. @T-Billy Tim has to be the Ohio version of Pete Maina/Larry Dahlberg for his tackle innovation & catch ability of the esox species. ??
  16. The higher quality graphite that is more sensitive is the winner all the time in my book. It allows you to feel the bite better & to work the bait better as well. Well worth the extra dollars if you can afford it.
  17. To me the fall repeats the spring bite but in reverse. Rather than try to time it based on the calendar think water temps instead to plan when to hit it the hardest. What temp did the bite start to get good in the spring? Look for the same temp influence in the fall. Most fall fisherman start to early & quit to soon at the end of the season.
  18. I am not going to rate myself because I would probably tick myself off.
  19. I took a page out of Katie's book & put a whopper plopper on. Made a bomb cast parallel to the shore line & let it rip. Before I could turn the reel handle I saw a splash & quickly realized I just got bit. Biggest of the day after a big rain.
  20. You have got a good plan in place. When I went from the 8 cyl to the 6 cyl at my local Toyota dealership I voiced my concerns. The salesman told me to take the new 6 cyl 4/runner home for the weekend & try it out towing my boat. This happened before I bought the new vehicle. I found out afterwards Toyota recommends not towing with a new vehicle until you have 500 miles on the odometer.
  21. 8 cylinder would be my choice but I did tow a heavy 20’ StarCraft STX with a Toyota 4-runner after they dropped the 8 cylinder in favor of the 6. The 6 cylinder 4-runner handled it well just not as strong as the 8 cyl.
  22. The call of a loon. The sound of a singing drag. The toilet bowl flush of a big fish hitting a topwater.
  23. This mornings sunrise.
  24. That's a Lucky Craft Bait. Probably in the $13-16 range.
