  1. Don't forget it is a very long season and you have got to stay up with what is going on and change your roster from time to time to compete. I would say who ever is winning after the classic won't be the one who wins the whole thing.
  2. Heck if money wasn't an issue I wouldn't be worried about which reel to buy. I would be worried about which boat to buy and what color Toyota Tundra to get to pull it with!! ;D
  3. I did the exact same thing in my garage. Except I have a total of 8 rod holders. It works great and is super cheap. I bought the berkley vertical rod racks on ebay for less than $8 each! Great way to store your rods and reels. My only suggestion is get some reel covers on them reels so they don't fill with dust!
  4. Yes the stock is getting short on the right handed reels, at the discounted price that is. I just bought another one at Simmons sporting goods. $179.00 plus $8.00 shipping. If you are looking for one go here www.simmonssportinggoods.net/ You better hurry before they run out too. They have been selling for more than that on Ebay!
  5. Vicious fluorocarbon 15 pound test for best all around performance!
  6. Vicious Fluorocarbon it is the best fluorocarbon out there imho. Dollar for dollar no other company can match it!
  7. Vicious Ultimate Copolymer! Hands down the best all around performing line!
  8. I guess that's just how I roll. Watch out for Kim Bain she is notorious for making the top five in almost every event she enters. Don't let the fact that she is a woman fool you she can fish. I mean she has been in the boat with a lot of the elite anglers in the classic. She is one of the few women who knows what it takes to compete with these guys!
  9. Anybody know where I can get the paper work for a team Daiwa Sol baitcaster? I just bought one and have no paper work. I like to have it for reference. Thanks
  10. I'm in You guys are in big trouble! I have came in the top five in each of the last 5 years, in my group that is. In 2006 I won my group.
  11. 6.2:1 or 6.3:1 Prefer IPT around 26" - 28"
  12. Count me in anytime is fine but mid April thru the summer would be best. This looks like fun. I think we should keep track of our fish catches and see how many fish get caught on this lure as the season goes on. Pics of the hogs caught would be great also. Heck maybe this lure will net someone there PB or a tournament win!
  13. They still had a few at Simmons Sporting goods. Try this link http://www.simmonssportinggoods.net Better hurry they are going like hot cakes. Best bet give them a call before you order to make sure they have what your looking for in stock!
  14. I vote Shimano Chronarch 50 mg! To date Shimano 22 votes Abu 3 Wow that's all I am gonna say!
  15. Kentucky Lake is great this time of year!! Hope everyone catches them good! Unfortunatly I am using all my vacation days for tournament fishing this year. But if it's cool I will try and come down Thursday morning and fish all day then swing by the lodge before I head home and meet some of you guys!
  16. Looks like a brand new boat! Sweet job how much did you spend on the restoration, and how long did it take you to get it done?
  17. More when I have cabin fever which is in the winter so that's really the same for me. Once the spring hits I am like a ghost, cause I spend all my free time on the water. Lets see spring / Summer schedule go to work 9 hours, come home get boat go fish 7 hours, come home do my honey do list usually about 1 hour a day. Eat go to sleep 7 hours, then repeat. Weekends are usually filled with 10 hours fishing each day and a tournament about every other weekend. So I don't have near the time to hang out online once the water isn't hard!
  18. Well I fianlly managed to get my new combos and do a little yard casting. The new Chronarch MG 50's cast like a dream and paired with the Kistler Magnesium TS rods they are the perfect setup for me! Light and smooth and these rods fit in my hands perfectly. I managed to stand the chilly 30 degree temps for about an hour before my entire body was numb. My wife just kept looking out the back door and laughing, but hey cabin fever is awful and I have new toys! So I guess you could say that's just how I roll. Maybe I am crazy but I know most of us are guilty of yard fishin! Had a great day can't wait for the water to unthaw so I can really put them to the test!
  19. The game is all about exposure! Every time you wear that nice Ranger Boat T-shirt into town thats exposure. You see these companies can afford to pay for these types of things " sponsored fisherman, comercials, ads in magazines the list goes on forever!" because we as amature or weekend anglers pay them to show off there products and logos. I know everytime I pass a truck with fishing stickers plastered all over it I think in my head hey I do need to pick up another bag of that brand's worms or whatever. What potental sponsors' are looking for is which angler can give them positive exposure. Such as that guy is a great super nice. Or everytime I read that guys post he is nice, honest, and gives great advice. Exposure is one thing Positive exposure is another! Hey lets be real If guy A is the best fisherman alive, but is a real jerk with multiple felonies and always getting in trouble and guy B is an average fisherman but super nice and always helping the community and youth who do you think that company wants to sponsor? That's why the game is more than about fishing! Super great article thanks for sharing!
  20. 1: Dave Wolak 2: Bill Lowen 3: KVD Last Prediction Kim Bain will come in the top 10!!! She can fish!
  21. RW you are correct and I also agree with The_Natural hats off to everyone who has posted. Everyone has there own price range, and skill level. My advise is if you aren't purchasing online go to your local Bass Pro and have them get you both models set-up and buy what feels best to you! I would also stick with 10 or 12 pound test for all around fishing and if you purchase at the store they are usually kind enough to spool your reel up with BPS Excel line if you ask "free of Charge!" Not all stores do this but I the one I frequent does everytime! Two years ago I took my little cousin who was 13 years of age at the time to purchase a Wally Marshall spinning combo which was on sale for 19.99 and they put the line on it for him no questions asked! As far as lures and techniques go don't be afraid to try something different, sometimes it pays off, but RoadWarrior is right learn the basic techniques first. They are time tested and everyone knows they catch fish. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your new combo.
  22. RW I often use a 5 3/4" worm for a trailer on jigs. Of course my technique is different than the normal jiggin technique. I use the 5 3/4" Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed worm as a trailer when I am swimming / burning a jig. This technique has caught me hundreds of bass when everyone else is throwing a spinnerbait. Of course I throw this on baitcasting gear, but I am sure it would also work using a spinning setup!
