Pinnacle ISP inertia finnesse reels.
Used mine (normally a tourney backup) to throw topwater at schooling stripers last spring. Landed 30 fish over 10lbs and 8 over 20. Reel never budged. Performed very well. Not an aluminum reel and wont last forever but a Great value, especially at 25$!

your favorite soft plastic jerk bait??
Lake fork Live Magic Shad, 5 inch, with a 5/0 weighted Owner beast swimbait hook. Can work varios level of the water column with various retrieves, and the bait has just a sick action.

All pro rods?
I have one of their 6'10 APX MH rods and it is superior to my GL3's and equal to my IMX's in terms of strength and sensitivity, and almost as light.

Jerkbait Thread
If you hae and Academy Sports near you, they have the H20 suspending jerk shad, whcih looks alot like a pointer (literally) and gets down 5-7 feet. Ive had great luck with them so far this winter. 3-4 dollar price range.

Falcon BuCoo Rods v. Abu Garcia Vendetta Rods
no experience with the bucoos but i have 2 6'9 MH vendettas and IMHO they are superior to the gold carrot stix that i have and the kistler MG's at a lower price point. Very good rods for the dollar!

Hook Up problems on LF Live Magic Shad
I was in the midst of the best swimn bait bite ive ever experienced this weekend, but was only landing about 20% of the fish that hit. Clear water, vicious strikes, but few hookups. I was using the large size magic shad with an owner 1/8ox weighted 5/0 swimbait hook. Even added a mustad triple grip treble trailer hook and still lost fish. Any suggestions, was using a MH fast action rod, slower softer rod may be necessary.

Slider Fishing
the presentation/technique of slider fishing is deifferent b/c it has so little action and is so subtle going through the water that it is appealing to the most finicky of fish, the actual slider fishing technique mimics a small slender bait fish like a spot tail.

Another neat (not so) new reel from Pflueger

Carrot Stix 7'9" CLTX791XH-C
if your gonna spend that amount of $$$ go with the td tierra, a substantial upgrade over the MF plus. only 10-15 more$ most of the time, or if your on TW go with the Black Widow II, its colors match the carrot SICKLY! and its a better reel than the MF plus

Who made these lures?
def look like the Tenn Killers to me, were my favorite cranks on Martin for several years. Norman started making them in the late 90's.
-
Anyone else LOVE Berkley baits?
Three of the tournaments i have won can be attributed directly to the 7 inch red shad power worm.

If munee wuzunt an ishew....

World record bass a phony.....
Well, to stray off the perry topic a little bit. I am an avid scuba diver, and have done quite a bit of deep water diving with the rescue squad on several lakes in AL which is not known to have monster LMB's like FL, CA, and TX. The size of some of the LMB's that i have seen in DEEP water 50+ feet shocked me. I never thought i would have seen fish i beleive to have weighed 13-16lb's in large groups. I firnly believe that in the more fertile waters of CA,FL, and TX there are records to be had.

Daiwa Procyon rods
awesome rods! IMO the best rod under 100$ out there. i'd rank them higher than BPS xtremes, falcon originals, and on an even plane with the team allstars.

Your thoughts on this idea
i take a tiny torpedo, remove the back hook nd tie a 24inch leader to it with a small sammy, zara pup, or spit'n image behind it. When the spots are schooling chasing shad, it is a lethal combo!

Re: What rod $100 - $150 to match with Revo SX?
agreed! Bump for the Powell 683c!
