  1. Sounds like you should have showered down on the throttle while he was standing in the back. ;D
  2. I use a drop shot rig on the Alabama river with a lot of luck. Just make sure that you use enough weight to make it to the bottom. Good luck!!!
  3. I may have to try these out. ;D
  4. I am so proud to live in such a wonderful country. Thank you to all of those that have served this nation. Thank you to all of the BRILLIANT founding fathers. Thank you Hernando de Soto for bringing pigs into this coutry during your exploration so I could enjoy a delicious rack of ribs.
  5. That is very unfortunate. I always enjoyed watching him play. He was tough as nails.
  6. I have fished a drop shot from the bank and have caught fish. If the water you are fishing is shallow you will probably be just as successful fishing a t-rig because the lack of depth would prevent the drop shot rig from being fish at its full potential, which is a vertical presentation. Instead, you would be presenting the bait in a horizontal manner.
  7. I have a BCR 893 GLX that I use for t-rigs,weightless, wacky, and drop shot. This is the first high end rod that I have used and I am blown away by its performance. It is very light and super sensetive. I could not be more please with its performance. I have also heard very good things about the new Dobyns rods.
  8. You should also pick up Mark Levin's Liberty and Tyranny.
  9. I just installed IE8 and it is running faster.
  10. Watch out Kim Bain-Moore. You have a future pro on your hands, Paul.
  11. Should be around 7lbs if this website is accurate. Obviously, fish will vary bassed girth. Weigh your fish with a ruler... http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/9222.html

  17. Pond- watermelon senko- 1 hour River- LC RC2.5DD MS American shad- all day
  18. I like using a medium power, mod-fast action for lures with treble hooks and a m/h for spinnerbaits. Uncle Leo has a Dobyns 684cb rod for $100. I have this same rod for crankbaits and topwater and I LOVE IT!!! Here is the link for the rod for sale... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1245756890
  19. Mottfia--pm sent Illinois-- the current fluctuates widely on the river. Some days it can be almost no current at all or it can be moving so fast that you can barely stay in place with a 101lb thrust trolling motor(after heavy rains). The days with no current are usually the worst days. One of the things I find interesting about river fishing is that it is always changing. Brushpiles or laydowns that you count on for several fish may be gone after a good storm or new brushpiles and laydowns can can appear in spots where you never caught a fish. In addition, ledges and slopes may erode from increased velocity in current. Find the chocolate water, find the bait, catch the fish. 8-)
  20. I fish the Alabama river as well. Creek mouths are the key. I have found that casting crankbaits into the the creek mouths and working into the main river to be the most productive method, especially when water is flowing out of the creek. Another thing I like to look for are areas where there are two different shades of water. We like to call it "chocolate water." After a rain you will usually find muddy water flowing out of a creek mixing with lighter and cleaner water from the main river. We usually do well in these areas. Also be sure explore bends in the river that create an area where the current dies or slows considerably. I have found a lot of fish in the areas between faster moving waters and slower waters. Another thing I pay attention to is the "texture" of the water. Whenever you see a disturbance around an area or flow that is inconsistent with the surrounding area, this is an indication of something under the water like a bowl, a log, stump, or hump. Make sure you work these areas thoroughly. Here in Alabama. The power company has a hotline where you can find out when they run the dams. You may want to see if your area does the same as we have more success when water is flowing and cool lake water is being pumped into the river. Unless we fish the canal, the river is very stained. Here are a few things we have the most success with... --Mag II and Ol' monster worms iun watermelon and green pumpkin --Drop shot worms in same color --Shad color cranks... my favorite is LC RC 2.5 DD MS American Shad --Chartreuse/ white spinnerbaits
  21. No, that's just plain dumb. Thank you for your constructive comment.
  22. I have seen a lot of big gar with holes in them left on the banks of the Alabama river. Some people are very careless.
