I learned to flyfish by targeting bluegills. Let me tell you, it is such a blast!!! I had the most luck using a round denny popping bug, it has a yellow head with a black skirt and white rubber legs. When the mayflies hatch you can really mop up. We have have had days where we caught over 200 gills between 4 people. The best advice I can give is to be patient and try not to cast to hard with the arm. It is all in the wrist.

I have a 2x4 mounted on the bed of my truck so the rods rest at a 45 degree angle. The 2x4 has notches that have been cut and smoothed out so rods do not move around or get scratched. This works very well for me.

I just got back from a weekend trip to Montgomery fishing the Alabama river. My uncle and I had a great time and caught over 50 bass total on Saturday and Sunday. Almost all the fish were over 2lbs with a dozen or so over 4lbs. All the fish were really fat and looked like they were about to pop. This fish soaked me when I tried to take her out of the livewell for a picture and to release her.
