  5. Ok guys, Ive got a tourney on the Arkansas river in early July. Ive never been there and I was wondering if anyone had any pointers on what to look for to target those big river bass I keep hearing about!! Send me a PM if you feel like helping a fellow angler out!! I appreciate it.
  6. UGA has a bass fishing team now. Look them up...they are good...we will be competing against them next weekend at guntersville...it will be on fox college sports
  7. Are you sure they are not just sores from spawning action? I know that the post spawn fish will have those type sores very near their mouths and down their bodies. From my understanding it is a bacteria infection that a great deal of fish get after the spawn. Oneal Williams did a show at Lake Lanier one time and almost every fish they caught had some sort of infection on them. He said it was only from spawning and the sores will go away in a few weeks. I hope this helps...maybe try and ask a dnr official or someone working at a state park...they maybe able to clarify.
  8. This is the best way I have found and I havent had one die on me yet. Been doing it for the past couple of years. With some practice you get very quick and efficent at it.
  9. I dont think yall will believe this but catching the same fish more than once has happened 3 times for me. 1. Last spring I was sight fishing a bed. I caught the same Buck bass three times on a texas rigged lizzard before I caught the 5 lb female with him. 2. Fishing Clarks Hill Res. last summer throwing a carolina rig. Hooked up with a nice fish and he broke the leader. 30mins later and about 75 yds down the bank I caught a nice 3 lber. I looked in his mouth and I see another line sticking out of it. I start pulling on the line and here comes my ole monster worm and my gamy hook. I couldnt believe it. 3. My bros and I were fishing a private pond back home. One brother hooked up with a nice fish faught it all the way to the bank and it broke. Not 5 mins later my other brother hooked a solid 4 lber. I walked over to help him get it out of the water and believe it or not the other hook and hook was stuck in the top of her mouth as well. I guess it just happenes every once in a while if you fish enough....
  10. Mike...We found one bass on bed but he was about 8 inches...there was a female that was a nice size but we kept spookin her in that clear water headed up the little river but other than that there was nothing. I caught one saturday that was bloody and beat up from nose to tail...we caught plenty of striper though...We also caught about a 15 lb carp and our other boat caught a 40 lb cat fish on a rat L trap. Pete...I know how it feels to be the only one wanting to do anything for the club...been there done that...just keep pushing through...start a group on facebook and send it out to all your friends at your school and they may tell other people about it...thats really how we got off the ground with guys wanting to help out just as much as a you do!! good luck with it man!! let me know if I can help with anything!!
  11. Pete dont believe anyhing ole Mottfia says!! haha you didnt miss much fishin!! Gah was it tough out there or what?? Justin, it was a pleasure fishing against yall...and congrats again on the victory... We are tryin to put on an invitational sometime soon...we were thinkin about sometime is July but after talking with the guys there is no way to have it all ready by then...we are looking at moving it to September or October...We will keep yall updated... I dont believe we are gonna make it to Wilson. I know Jay is gonna go for that meeting that Jann was talking about but im not sure if we are gonna have the funding to get out there this time... Yall take it easy, Kyle
  12. I've seen the video of these in action last fall and I was convinced these would be great baits. I've already played around with one and I can't seem to get the toad to be consistent with the retrieve. It's either belly-side up or belly-side down on the retrieve. Do I need to use a weighted 6/0 hook? I'm currently using the Zoom horney toad style hooks. jb_adams, I was using a 1/32 ounce flutter hook this weekend. It didnt really make a difference, it would still do its job right side up or upside down. I got bites and hook ups with it running both ways. I read about the new Tru-Tungsten Greg Hackney Frog hook and Ill be giving that a try this weekend at Weiss Lake in AL. Its a double hook like the spro frog but it was designed for the rage tail and horny toad type baits. Either way the rage tail is an awesome bait.
  13. I dont know about yall but I love the new rage tails!! I used them this weekend in a tourney on the Savannah River and it was absolutely awesome!! I had a 5+ lb absolutely kill it...and after a great fight threw the hook right before she came aboard!! That would have put me in some good money plus big fish. I will be getting some of the new Tru-Tungsten Greg Hackney Frog hooks...I heard alot about them on the Bass Feed Podcast...and hopefully it will hang onto that big one next time!! Great product!! Highly suggest it!!
  14. Peter I hear ya on that one...actually some of our profs our excusing us from class for friday...they said it was fine and i just had to type up a very short and to the point letter explaining what will be doing that needed an excuse. As for the work...sadly enough theres only so much you can do about that!! I do hope to see yall there though!
  15. We havent heard anything yet about pairings. Im sure Jann will do something like he did at wheeler...he did the drawings at the meeting but kept getting them mixed up with the second day pairs...which was pretty funny...It doesnt really matter who we fish against its all gonna come down to finding the quality fish and changing with the conditions!!
  16. we are sending three teams and i believe we are gonna be there thursday night...we are feeling pretty good about it and are def excited about the larger field compared to wheler...we are probably gonna fish three completely diff patterns!! everyone has their own strengths and they will be looking for water that fits those strengths!! hope to see you guys there this weekend!! come holler at us at the meeting!!
  17. Peter E...Mottfia, you guys fishing the collegiate tourney this weekend on weiss?? are yall ready??
  18. I do appreciate it fellas...hopefully we will wack em up there pretty good!!
  19. Ill be headed to Weiss lake here in a few weeks...does anybody have any helpful advice on where to go and what to watch out for??
  20. Hey guys, I got a question or two for yall. Im with Georgia Southern Univ Southern Bass Anglers and we just competed in Auburns southern series at wheeler. we did pretty good considering it was our first tourney. Anyway...we are pretty much broke and are scrapping together fundraisers to get to Weiss...how do yall get funds for travelling? and for those who competed in the national champ at lewisville...how in the world did yall afford that??? lastly we are looking at hosting an invatational at Clarks Hill Res in either july or october!! let me know what yall think about it and get back to me!! Preciate it fellas. ~Kyle
