  6. So I was bed fishing today off the bank at a nearby lake and had been working this bass for about a half an hour. I was just getting him ticked off enough to where he would snap at my jig when a guy old enough to be my dad walked by me and asked if I had any luck. I told him not yet but the bass are spawning in the shallows and I have been working this one (pointing) for a long time. He then proceeded to raise his voice and yell (Wow!, Look at him). He then threw his plastic worm across my own fishing line, hitting the fish sitting on the bed and spooked him away. I walked off so frustrated searching for more beds as the guy pretty much just took my spot. He left after about five minutes. I walked back to the bass and started getting him mad again when the guy walked over to me AGAIN! and asked if he was biting my lure and started throwing his lure out right next to mine! Just when I had enough and was about to go off on the guy for not finding his own fish he decided he was going to try another lake. I soon caught the 2lb bass after he left but I am still upset over how some people just dont have any manners. Has this happened to any of you? Thanks for letting me vent, Hawg Fan

  11. Thank You! I was going to make a post about this issue but didnt want to start any more drama. It just seems like the younger guys think "My dad bought me a boat, now I can get paid to fish". They dont understand that it isnt even about fishing, it is about business and money. I have read some posts where the members are 12 and 13 and are ready to go big! If I could give advice to anyone trying to achieve a high level of success in any sport, not just fishing. It would be to take your time and to earn what is given to you. Success does not have over night. I previously mentioned in a post a few days ago "I am only about to turn twenty but I am not even thinking of starting my tournament career until my thirtys. Here are a few of my posts: Im glad to see you are thinking about tournament bass fishing, and I myself am not a tournament fisherman, but through experience of Tournament Paintball I know a thing or two about sponsorships and forming relationships with companies. You must understand Tournament Fishing is a lot more than just loving to fish. It is a business, a big business, and when a company commits itself to you, you need to be commited 110 percent. I'm not sure how old you are but just judging by your posts i'd say not too old. Slow down, you have a long time to go pro. Practice, Study, Fish Tournaments, form relationships through tournaments and get to know what the business is all about. If you are still sure in a few years that it is something you want to be fully commited to then I would say you have a good resume to put together to show companies that you are in it for the long haul, and are the kind of person that can give back to them for payment of their support. I wish you best of luck in whatever you do, and remember to do well in school too! Take Care, Hawg Again guys, refer to my previous post about being young and having time to gain experience, knowledge of the business, and molding yourself into a well rounded individual through school and life experiences. Your interests change all the time while growing up, so dont get knee deep in the proverbial quick-sand. Being a successful competitor in any sport isnt just about the love of the game, its about what I have described above. I am only about to be twenty years old, and I plan to start my tournaments when I am around thirty when I am somewhat financially stable, slow and steady wins the race...most of the time. Good Luck, Hawg Fan
  12. LOL Largemouth University! :-? Its true :-/
  13. Hey NB, I live about 3 minutes from the front gate of the base, right down the road pretty much. I'd be glad to show you around central arkansas if you'd like, there isnt much to do in jacksonville but you have everything you need close by unlike some bases. Oh and just to let you know The "Little Rock" Air Force Base..is actually located in the city of jacksonville which is about 10 minutes from Little Rock.
  14. Remember, it is a must to have an "arsenal" of lures. Not all lures will work at certain times of the year. Here are some articles that help you choose what lure would be a good choice, and as your bass fishing knowledge grows, you will be able to make all kinds of decisions on the fly http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/spinnerbait_topwater_crankbait.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/best_lure.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/one-lure.html Good Fishin, HawgFan
  15. Well, I base my lure of choice on a number of things such as seasonal patterns, and weather. If i am certain my lure of choice will work I will not change for a long time even if it isnt producing. If I am catching fish like no tomorrow on a certain lure however I will definately not tie on anything else. It is hard enough to catch fish in the first place. well.....some days anyway;)
  16. Welcome football rival! Plenty of great people here to answer all your questions!
  17. I dont personally use them...yet! I do however know several people who have them and love'm!
  18. It is good to have a resume but I do not believe it is good to shove it in everyones face to get free stuff, sponsorship is a two way street. If you want to form a relationship with a company the best way to do it is to shake hands at the weigh in after you just won that big check. I feel like some of the younger guys forget all about fishing and just try to promote themselves without any experience! You should not try to force sponsorships, if you think your good enough to have one, then they probably already know who you are. Fish hard HawgFan
  19. A true legend of our time as far as i am concerned. We should be thankful to have him and all the other older veterans who have paved the way and revolutionized the way we youngsters fish for Bass. When I say youngsters I mean all of you who are old enough to be my dad. HawgFan
  20. most of the time i just reel them in, and other times i will reel in and then kill them right near some cover or a point. here aresome articles that might help you out. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/crankbait_fishing.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/crankbait_bass_fishing.html http://www.bassresource.com/fish/crankbaits.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/Rat-L-Traps.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/rattle_trap.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/lipless_crankbaits.html Bass Resource offers tons of articles on pretty much every bass question you've ever had! There is a lot of work put into it for us so make sure you take advantage of what is available. Good Luck Hawg Fan
  21. No problem! I was afraid too at first
  22. I believe its more about presentation and knowing what the bass are doing.
  23. 24. Just use a little muscle, it sort of snaps in, push out with your fingers where you spool the line so you dont end up tearing up your brakes
