    Sometimes we lose them.
But seems I might have been right.
And it didn't really take that long either.

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~
Don't think you can go wrong either way as long as you're hooking / landing fish.
    Personally, I prefer EWG.

  3. A-Jay's post in Strength for jigs was marked as the answer
My gear choice when presenting a jig, regarless of bait type or size, is usually predicated on the cover I'm fishing.  The denser and deeper I am probing the cover, the heavier the rod, line and terminal tackle I am selecting; including the hook on the jig.
Jig weight can vary depeding on several factors such as water depth, clarity and temperature.  Desired fall rate and where I think the bass are in the cover/water column (high, middle or on the bottom) should factor in as well.  A 7'6" heavy action stick with 50 lb braid and a 1/2 oz jig is pretty standard stuff for most medium to perhaps heavy cover, but like I said, it depends.

How about just sliding it into a local commercial storage.
If you have one that is en route to the waters you fish that could be pretty convenient, especially if you are able to leave it intact.

    Contrary to popular belief ~

It is completely possible to cast to, detect a strike, play & land bass with a rod that may not necessarily be "The Best".

I think I'm working with sticks in the "not Too Bad category" and seem to do OK.

Just get one you like, you'll be good.

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

I use lipless baits all year - Different presentation & in different locations but they work for me.

The Original Rat-L-Trap works OK but I do prefer the SK Red Eye Shad - has a killer shimmy on the fall.

If you have something close to a 60 amp Breaker between the battery and the motor (And I hope you do) you may have tripped it.

If not, you may have just fried something.
