Anybody using a Pelican Catch 100 kayak? Might replace my Ride 135
I just saw this Pelican Catch 100 kayak today at Field and Stream and it looks very interesting to me. I currently have a Wilderness Ride 135, but it's a 2008 model and I have a couple issues with it. One is that this model pre-dated most of the kayak accessories that exploded onto the market the past decade so it doesn't have good, level places to mount accessory rails for various things. I'm contemplating adding some now, but there's going to be some cost and time involved trying retrofit some accessories. And at 13.5' long it has always felt awkwardly long whether I'm on the water, transporting it or keeping it in the yard. This long length allows for a good bit of storage space, but I don't go on long distance trips where that has ever been handy. I admit it does track true and have found some shorter kayaks shift on me when paddling. This Pelican Catch 100 seems a much better match for the smaller ponds and streams I kayak anyway. If I'm in a kayak I'm generally fishing ponds and streams. And it's wide so seems like it will be as stable as my Ride 135. It is 30 pounds lighter (50 vs 80 lbs) and best of all for me it has what looks to be an awesome, supportive chair that can adjust low or high. I really dislike the low Ride 135 seat for fishing. Anybody have any experience with these? Hull material looks different and thinner than the Ride 135, hope it isn't weak. I don't take a lot of gear, usually a couple rods and a small bag of tackle.

THE KASTKING THREAD
I’m still trying to get comfortable with the idea of buying a Kastking baitcasting reel. I decided to do a little test and go see if a manual and schematic are available for the Megajaws reel I’m interested in. I didn’t see either at the Kastking website. And I didn’t see anything about ordering parts either, for the Megajaws or any other reel. Maybe you can call but seems odd they don’t seem to put that out there.

St. Croix Rods
Hmmm, just bought my Mojo Bass this afternoon from them. I used the coupon from their home page (it links to the in-store version of the coupon and saved it to my cell phone). Maybe you can try to buy it online and use the coupon and pick up in store.

Dick’s has a $20 off $100 on their website right now. I might get a Mojo rod today after stopping by to check it out.

How to fish this Rapala X-Rap propbait?
I found a 4.5” Rapala propbait someone else lost, it’s in good shape so i’ll keep it and try to catch something with it. This one has a propeller at each end so is this a stickbait that I give short erratic jerks or am I supposed to keep it moving so the propellers create an attraction?

Need decent line counter for DIY reel fill station
I'm building a DIY reel fill station. I'd like to add a line counter but the one I've seen mentioned here doesn't seem to have very good reviews. I don't mind it being a little off but many reviews state it's way off. Just curious if anybody has adde done to a fill station and happy with the one they bought.

Need a mono line capacity converter
I’m spooling up a few reels with 10 lb. mono and wondering if the filler spool I’m using has enough line to do them all. I have the line capacity of my reels, but they have ratings for thicker mono like 12-lb. Isn’t there a calculator that can quickly convert that?

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
I have the foot controlled transom-mount Bulldog (40 lb model) in my boat. Zero hand control, all foot. After awhile it becomes second nature and no pause in cast or retrieve. Its 10 years old and doing great.

Why is bass fishing so addicting?
Because you catch this the day after catching the one below it

Smaller lure size in winter?
A new (to me) pond I'm fishing is producing some nice fish. I'm not 100% sure this is the pattern but it just seems I'm getting more fish when throwing smaller lures. I started fishing this pond a few weeks ago, and initially used smaller crappie spinnerbaits and plastics. In fact my best bait has been a little 1/8 ounce beetlespin, which has looked tiny in some of these fish's mouths! After seeing the quality of these fish I started throwing full size spinnerbaits and plugs but not getting as good a bite on them. So I mix it up between the smaller and larger baits and feel like the smaller baits are more productive. Is this just a winter bite thing? Heck, I thought they would like a bigger meal since I vaguely recall hering they eat less in winter, hence a big meal would go further in a more lethargic fish.

Alternatives to this KastKing Megajaws and Speed Demon Pro baitcasting pairing for a do-all rig?
Finally broke in that new Fuego/Dobyns setup today. Had water freezing in the guides this morning but the fish were biting! Also my PB! Thanks for the recommendation!

Headlamp for dusk fishing?
Do any of you wear a headlamp to help show line twitches when fishing in low light conditions? I was fishing with some hi-vis line the other evening and thought that might really help me. Just a regular headlamp or is there a special bulb/led that works best? My little headmap has a white and a red led.

Do folks still use this pistol grip style rod?
I have a habit of holding on to my gear a long time, and since I only recently returned to bass fishing I'm trying to decide where to upgrade certain equipment or just make do. This older Daiwa Magforce reel seems to be casting great after recently servicing it but I'm wondering if I should put it back on this equally old Berkley Lightening Rod. I don't recall seeing pics of anybody using this older pistol grip style. Compared to my new Dobyns Fury 703C this rod feels pretty short at 5' 6" and the light action seems overwhelmed when throwing spinnerbaits or cranks. I'm not sure I would bother reaching for it for finesse fishing since I now have the new Daiwa/Dobyns rig. If I don't put the reel on a rod it will wind up at the back of a drawer and not get used. I like the idea of using it this year. I'd like to have 3 rods and this is what I already have plans to use this year: 1. Daiwa Fuego/Dobyns Fury 703C 2. older Bass Pro Tourney Special reel/Bass Pro IM6 7' Heavy power rod (thinking frogs, cranks, heavy cover) What's a good all-around rod to complement the above 2? I'm hoping the Fuego/Dobyns will be my main go-to combo so will keep this one rigged to grab when the time is right. Thanks for any inout!

How to rig up these Rage Toads?
I have a pack of Rage Toads getting dusty and want to throw them across some lilly pads this season. Any suggestions for a hook and rigging method? The guy at the tackle store suggested something like Ribbit double hooks but since he didn't carry them anymore I was slightly skeptical. I'm thinking they are heavy enough to cast and won't need added weight, right? I don't want them sinking down into the pads.

Who made this Bass Pro Tourney Special baitcaster?
Took it out to the softball field today since the lake had 2" of ice on it. I cast it a bunch of times and it really casts good! I hardly used it when new 20+ years ago (?) and so don't have a lot of memories of using it. But it cast great and I was really accurate with the 7' rod it was on. Thanks for the help!

From Shore to the Water: Looking for Advice on What Boat Make Sense
Will you want to fish when there is thin ice at the ramp? In that case may want to go with an aluminum jonboat. If not then a kayak or better yet one of the pond prowler style boats. I love my BassBaby with the built in wheels.

Oh great. Where can I get a white and chartreuse calculator with a carbon fiber case.

Who made this Bass Pro Tourney Special baitcaster?
Yes, marked Made In Korea. After a quick servicing inside it feels quite smooth again. Gonna make it my heavy froggin’ rig this year

I Bought A Lady President And I'm Not A Lady
It’s pretty gay. What color finger nail polish you gonna wear with it? ? we’re just not expected to say it out loud any more. I do love a Pflueger spinning reel though. I should have bought a pink one and would have taken a black magic marker to it.

Anyone using the Millenium Marine folding seat in a small boat?
I'm looking for a more supportive seat in my little Bass Baby. I think this will bolt right on to my seat swivel. Kinda hard to tell if it is that ventilated netting type fabric or what. if you have sat in one, is it comfortable?

Who made this Bass Pro Tourney Special baitcaster?
The Pinnacle VS10 parts diagram looks exactly like it, expect for the Pinnacle having an extra clicker drag washer

Who made this Bass Pro Tourney Special baitcaster?
I am primarily interested in parts. The anti-reverse bearing is rusty and i’d Like to replace it as well as a new drag washer. Less concerned about the drag washer as it looks ok, but after 25 years i’m willing to put a $2 drag washer in

Who made this Bass Pro Tourney Special baitcaster?
I think I bought this Bass Pro Tourney Special (model TS-1H) in the early 90's. It has mostly sat for 15 years but I'm gonna use it this year. I plan to service it soon and interested in finding any parts diagrams available. I've looked and have seen nothing and think I might need to find a diagram for a similar reel by whoever made it for Bass pro. Any ideas? I want to say Abu Garcia but can't base that on anything other than fuzzy memory, and I still have no idea of the comparable model. At a minimum I know I will want to throw a new drag washer in it.
