Son and father just lnded this bass as I arrived to start my day of fishing. I didnt get a bite all morning. Guess the Early Bird gets the Worm (Bass)
  3. Wayne, I knew there was a submerged d**n, but the protable Depth finder I have, doesnt fit on my dad's ski boat. And i havent come across a good topo mp for the lake. Wayne, so the beds are in 28 feet of water? not shallow, coves? guessing the black area of your pic is the actual d**n, and the small white specs are fish/beds??
  4. I can catch small bass up to about 1.5 lbs...but the monthly tournaments the guys do well...3-4lbs...occasional 5+ lber. Im fishing on my dads fish./ski boat with no fish finder nor trolling motor....so I dont have the tools I need to be proficcient. Im a guest since my parents moved down there. Was hoping to find other guest/members to share info with and possibly fish with.
  5. Just wondering if anyone on here fished LOW at all? My parents have a house down there and I fish down there maybe 10-12 times a year.
  6. Yea I was looking at the weather report briefly and saw the weather wasnt going to be that great:( didnt realize it was going to be that Windy though:( Maybe I'll stick to shore fishing, since that kinda wind in a jon boat with a trolling motor seems counterproductive...*Sigh*
  7. Taking Friday off from work to Fish the Res (5-24-13) Prob Renting a boat from Fountain Head or Lake ridge. anyone Fish the Res this week and what's the pattern? First chance I've gotten to get out this year. been swamped with work and Djing weekends so Im glad to have Memorial day weekend off. Gotta start it off right by fishing Friday!! It's been about 15 years since I've fished the Res, so any advice and tips would be appreciated. Or if anyone is definitely fishing Friday morning and doesnt mind a co-angler, I'll buy drinks/gas. Thanks!
  8. Hey Flippin4it. Just getting back into fishing myself. never fished a dropshot rig. I understand the concept and bought the dropshot weights and hooks for it, but it be nice to get some practice in with someone who's used it with success.
  9. good to see a good amount of Nova folks on here!!
  10. I was unable to make it out, unexpectant Car troubles. My younger cousin went out on Saturday, I relaid the info you guys told me and he got skunked. he either didnt listen or didnt listen LOL. SoccPlayer...Did you hit the Res or the River?

  12. Just looking for some friendly advice as to areas to concertate on, Lures, colors, etc. I haven't fished the Reservoir in over 10 years, just getting back into fishing actually. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! P.s. Be renting a Boat at Fountain Head.
  13. Good luck!! let us know how u make out.
  14. yea the active baits, spinner baits and crankbaits, in shad colors I hear are often the best to use this time of year...
  15. QuanJig...Have the Bass started to spawn on the beds yet or the females still waiting?
  16. Will last night's and this morning's front that moved through postpone their movements on to beds for a few more days? How soon after a front like the one that passed the Washington D.C. area earlier today, do bass resume their normal feeding/spawning/daily behavior? Just curious.
  17. Gang Whats going on? I have to admit that I'm quite addicted to this site since joining a short while ago. Not sure How Im able to get all my work done because I think Im on here most of my working day!!! I currently live in Springfield/Burke area of Va. Just getting back into the sport of Bass Fishing. It was a big hobby of mine as a teenager. I subscribed to about 2-3 B.A.S.S. magazines, even tried my hand at making my own lures. I fished Burke Lake, Occoquan and Potomac, but all form shore. But after College, I picked up DJing and havent fished as much. I'm familiar with alot of techniques, and with fish themselves. (Studied Marine Biology in school but changed my major senior year to Biology) because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. So I do have a good deal of Bass fishing knowledge but havent been able to apply it much these last 10 years. I thought this would be a great resource to get my feet wet again, pick up tips, hopefully make a few new fishing buddies and enjoy some time out on the water. If anyone ever needs a partner, and is local, would luv the chance to fish with you sometime. Fish On!! --Chris
  18. Yea i wish my dad would put the boat ini all ready. he's not a fisherman so he usally waits till mid may when it warms up to put the boat in. Good Luck today! Let me know how it goes.I probably won't make it down till early may to fish down there.
  19. Murray, I fish down there several times a year, mainly May-August when my parents have their fish/ski boat in the water. I don't have any electronics either other than the depth finder on the boat. But from a map I found on the LOW website, there is a bunch of manmade Fish attractors that have been placed in various areas of the lake. Find the map and that should give you a good start. I've never really caught fish there consistantly, and what AI have caught hasnt topped 2 lbs. but there are some bigger bass in there. Docks are good early/late and deeper water drop offs are good during the summer. Bass should be close to spawning with the current heat wave... look for the smaller males making beds....the larger females should be a little deepr till they are ready to spawn. I myself was hoping to link up with someone down there who fished regualarly and maybe a member of the fishing club. Would love to learn tips, as I myself am just getting back into bass fishing. Hop others will chime in and share their knowledge.
  20. Yea the bait Monkey is to blame......wonder if its the same monkey on you shoulder telling you not to lip the bass with thumb and finger, or forget grabbin' the net but to swing him into the boat....only to lose the fish!!!
