  1. I got the slow sink in the blue herring. It looks amazing in the water.
  2. I just received this bait today and it is AMAZING!
  3. Oh man. I've found the trick. Last night I started throwing a white Terminator spinnerbait with a gold willow blade and had a 4 pounder on the first cast. Within 15 minutes, I caught 5 bass that were 4 to 5 pounds. Then I guess it got too dark and I didn't catch any more. Going back tonight and spinnerbaiting the whole d**n lake.
  4. I have a pond near my house which has a quite a bit of bass. A couple of years ago this pond had bluegill as thick as piranhas. My dad caught an 8lber out of there once. Today, I just saw the first bluegill I've seen in two years, and the bass are plentiful but skinny. I've caught some 3 to 3.5lbers, but their heads have been much bigger than their body. I was thinking of going to a baitshop tomorrow and buying some shiners or minnows and releasing them into the pond. There's plenty of cover at the moment. Would the fish that I buy live in the pond? Does anyone have any ideas on the cost of shiners or minnows these days?
  5. Stick worms Sweet Beavers Red Eye Shads Black and Blue Jigs
  6. You can start working as a guide and just tell people to go fishing wherever you plan on fishing the next day.
  7. Maybe I'm just retarded but I grew up on push button reels with the handle on the right side. I then tried spinning reels with the handle on the left side and it felt perfectly right. When I finally started using baitcaster, it felt great using it as I did the pushbutton. If I'm right handed, I should reel in right handed. If the reel is flipped over, I'll reel with the other hand.
  8. I know you live in Central Florida. How do they work around here? What's your best presentation in CFL lakes?
  9. I've never fished this, but Im going in the spring. Have any of you guys ever fished this and have any tips or suggestions? Is it as amazing as I've heard? My uncle and I plan on using shiners, but what else really works here?
  10. Just curious, what is the most realistic looking swimbait you know of? Could be of any type of fish at all.
  11. I've never bought a swimbait before, and am extremely hesitant spending even $15 on one lure. I really wany to get a swimbait though. Is the Reaction Strike Revolution Shad Swimbaits any good? Any recommendations for a swimbait that's around 4 inches or so that's in that price range? http://www.***.com/descpageSWIMRSTRIKE-RSRSS.html#pImage
  12. Do you have a boat or a canoe?
  13. No one in my family has ever caught a bass over 12 pounds, so I hope to accomplish that sometime soon. Hopefully this site will help. I've already learned a lot that I never knew before.
  14. Oh man, tonight I went there with a frog. I casted as far as I could straight out into the middle and, BAM! a four pounder slams it after 3 or 4 pops. Fought him all the way in from 30 yards out and ripped him through the gunk. It was a THICK bass. Didn't get a bite the rest of the night. I just don't know what to do. Whenever I fish here I'll usually only catch one, but it'll be at least 4 pounds. I know there are more fish and bigger fish but I just can't get the rest to hit.
  15. I live inbetween Winter Park and UCF. Know of any secret spots?
  16. I've been posting here for a while, but forgot to introduce myself. I live in Orlando, Florida. I've been fishing since I was a baby. Used to do it a lot in my uncles bassboat in all the lakes we could find around the middle of Florida, but since he got rid of that several years ago we run in a canoe in various small lakes and the intercoastal. I also make trips every year to Missouri to see family, and usually do some good smallmouth fishing in rivers. Biggest LMB is 9 lbs, smallmouth is 4.5, redfish 25 lbs, and trout is 5 lbs.
  17. Are there any good creature baits out there that are big enough to be fished weightless so i can cast pretty far? Something really chunky?
  18. I've discovered a new lake/pond by my girlfriends house that seems to be filled with fish. In just only three trips I've caught three 5 pounders and multiple 3 pounders. Only problem is there is gooey algae/gunk on top of a lot of the water, and the bottom of it is just coated in varying levels of the stuff. This means I pretty much can't fish a jig, weighted worm, or crankbait. I can rip a red-eye shad, but half to a quarter of my casts will have me pulling gunk off after the retrieve. I've had the most some success with senkos, soft jerkbaits, and weightless brush hogs but I can't think of much else to use besides topwater lures which I don't seem to have much luck on. Any more ideas?
  19. This is in Orlando Florida by the way.
  20. Finally caught it with a shrimp net. That was it. http://img24.imageshack.us/i/dscn1373z.jpg/ http://img11.imageshack.us/i/dscn1375e.jpg/ http://img23.imageshack.us/i/dscn1381.jpg/ http://img11.imageshack.us/i/dscn1376pnd.jpg/
  21. I know what a channel cat is, and I used to catch them in the pond several years ago. I was looking online and it looks a lot like this:
  22. I have a small retention pond in my neighborhood that I regularly fish for bass. It has a lot of bass, a few bluegill, crappie, and some sort of tilapia that was just introduced. Today I noticed new beds that are the same size as bass beds, but they're very close to shore. At the edge of the bed closest to shore there is a hole, and I noticed a tail sticking out of the hole. The tail was sort of whispy. I looked closer and there were fish carcasses and bones laying all around outside the hole. When I poked the tail with a stick, this good sized fish comes out that looks like a cross between a shark and a catfish. It looked like it weighed close to 4 or 5 pounds and was dark with spots all over its body. I shoved a stick into the hole - which juts straight into shore - and it was over a foot deep. Anybody have any idea what it could be?
  23. My girlfriends parents are from a different culture where they will eat nearly anything that swims. They recently found out that I love bass fishing, and her mom has begged me to keep some bass for her to cook. I was wondering if you guys thought if it was fine to keep a bass from a small lake near a neighborhood, or if there would be too much pollution/fertilizer from the homes nearby. I've never kept a bass for food before, so I was also wondering how they would taste.
  24. I only caught 3 bass, nothing bigger than 2 lbs. My uncle caught a nice one though: 8.5 lber on a red shad paddle tail worm
