deep cycle suggestions
Interstate has a Dual Purpose group 29 after looking at the old battery that I have stored in my basement I will have to stand corrected it is group 24 cranking battery that left me dead on night trips while running the lights, two fish finders, electric start, etc. I apologize for the error. Chow

what type of Braid??
Yes, I do use it on spinning gear. Getting twisted line knots out is easy if that's what you meant. I have never had a tied knot slip I do use a Palomar Knot though. Chow

mono/flouro: which is supposed to have more memory
Fluorocarbon has the most memory without question DO NOT use it on spinning gear YOU WILL have a slinky toy coming off your reel that's been my experiance. Braid has the least and the mono's - co-polymers vary from brand to brand although I have found that the Mccoy's co-polymer has the least memory of the mono's - co-polymer's. Chow

opinion of Johnny Morris rods for BPS
I have and use the top of the line Morris spin rods on sale at BPS the best value going you won't go wrong. I have th TI rods sold several years ago and the model that replaced it awesome rods. Go to BPS if you can and handle one with a reel on it a very sensitve rod. I also have the Bionic Blade the JM is a lot better not that the Blade is bad it's a good rod in it's price range. Chow

I wear one at all times when I'm fishing by myself and when I'm not it just makes good sense to protect yourself in any emergency thet may befall you. I also use the shutoff lanyard cord as well. Chow

deep cycle suggestions
Get 2 chargers not only one a charger for each battery is the way to go. I would buy at least a group 29 battery for the trolling motor and depending what accessories your are going to have another one to cover those as well. I had a group 26 cranking battery that ran my accessories and it left me dead twice night fishing so I up graded to a group 29 cranker myself. I have 2 group 29's for my 24v trolling motor. The bigger the battery the longer the run time best to error bigger than smaller. Chow

aluminum vs. fiberglass
I have a 17' Tracker Targa Deep V with a 90hp Merc witha stainless prop with a heavy load I'll get 42mph out of it and it floats in about 6" of water with the motor trimed all the way up but wind will push it around due to it's lighter weight and the height that's out of the water but I'm happy with it as mentioned before it will take more abuse than a glass boat. The Bass Tracker Bass boat is the number one selling boat in America so I would start with something like that you should be able to get a good deal on a used one and is easy to trailer as well.. Stay away from older galss boats anything before the late 90's as most had wood in it's construction and costly repairs can and will be part of ownership. Glass boats are good boats though and if there comes a time for me to buy one I would not be afraid to own one the choice is yours though. Happy Hunting. Chow

Minn Kota-Auto Pilot & COPILOT-Questions? HELP
I use the auto-pilot and co-pilot. I disconnected the foot control because it became a tripping hazard on a short front deck especially at night on a 17' Deep V I do keep it on board as a backup though. I use the auto-pilot when fishing along the shoreline I really like that option it's almost like set it and forget it but you do have to make some course corrections on occasion. I have no problems fishing shallow water with it so I don't know why others say there's an issue with it but then it's the only trolling motor I have ever had so I can't compare it to anything else. If you can find someone that has one ask to use it on their boat and make your own judgement from there. Chow

What bait do you use most often?
Depends on structure, depth, time of day etc. I use a varitey of baits never really relying on any one all the time have 4 to 6 rods rigged up at any one time. Chow

I use a ball bearing swivel with a coastlock to reduce line twist when using my spinning gear on all hardbaits. Works for me. Chow

Great Blue Herons
In June of 2005 we stayed near Cape Vincent on the St. Lawrence River and we would feed these birds with Panfish that we caught amazingly they would let you get pretty close (within 15') when you had a meal for them. It was kinda net to watch these birds eat the way they would flip the fish up in the air to swallow it head first. Chow
