  1. Gas $2.309 here in Aiken SC, bread is $2.99 loaf for whole grain, crappy wonderbread is $2.99, store brands around 2.50 milk 4.05 gallon. Just got back from store.
  2. Yeah just don't lose it with them, they'll just sedate you. Hang in there, no answers and not getting better must be beyond frustrating.
  3. New boat operator? Do yourself a favor and take a boating class. Contact your local coast guard auxiliary, some states like VA are making this mandatory. I know VA offers the course online. Secondly any salt water is going to play havoc on a freshwater engine same with trolling motors, make sure whatever you buy is rated for saltwater use, if you plan on going on the intracoastal waterway. A v-hull will pay off with a better ride and more stable platform when fishing coastal waters. Also living in Florida and buying used you need to be able to tell if the boat was used on saltwater. Buying boats can be tricky so do allot of research, good luck.
  4. Y'all know what a buckeye is? A worthless nut, Ohio is full of them. Honestly though I'm glad I'm not on the committee, hard to know which team to put there, Ohio or TCU, then again Baylor had a good year too. No matter who ends up as 3 & 4 there will be controversy.
  5. Glad the reports are still improving. I couldn't imagine what he's going through. You and your fellow employees should be commended for making sure the farming is continuing. It's a hard way to make a living, thank you.,
  6. I'm sure he'll turn out just fine, his attitude is much like mine, but I wasn't as good at sarcasm
  7. Kent, how long has crude been below $100/barrel? I'm thinking six months at least. When crude hit $100/barrel was when gas went north of $2/gallon, it should already be less than $2. It's getting to the point that the public is noticing (finally). I'm betting in a week or so the refineries start their usual we have to make heating oil argument as an excuse to keep the prices near $2 bucks, we're actually at the point now that pump prices should already be around $1.50 or less. FWIW when this all started about 10 years ago crude was around $50/barrel, pump prices around a buck maybe a buck fifty where I was living. Gas companies started raising the prices fast and furiously, they took it as high as possible to where it started impacting the economy. They sure haven't reversed the prices at the pump to match what crude trades for. The reason it infuriates me is that gas prices affect everything. Artificially keeping the price per gallon high just makes economic recovery that much more difficult. Heck milk is four bucks a gallon, loaf of bread around three. Everytime fuel goes up so does everything else.
  8. That dog won't hunt
  9. It isn't the local station gouging us, the oil companies are. Your average station makes one to three cents per gallon, their money is made either through store sales or repairs. So you're correct it isn't the station's fault, it's the gas companies. The largest fuel supplier on the world has been reporting their largest profit margin ever since the price per gallon we pay has risen so dramatically, gas prices aren't market driven from the supply demand side it's that those who are doing the supplying now are basically a monopoly.
  10. Gas prices are a sore subject with me. Gas first went over $2/gallon when crude went over $100/barrel, the last I looked crude is around $75/barrel so gas should be allot less thank it is, price gouging pure and simple. Those of you misfortunate enough to live in a high tax state will never see gas less than $3/gallon, cost difference in gas from state to state is due to your state taxes on gasoline. Best example of this is diesel, diesel is the cheapest fuel to manufacture but cost the most due to taxes on diesel.
  11. They may not, get transferred. The local hospital nearly kilted my father in law when he had pancreatitis. Had a friend who literally ruptured his colon, fortunately the hospital transferred him before they screwed him up for life. He had asymptomatic colitis, he was eating pecans and literally ruptured his colon. It was around this time of year, the surgeon who worked on him must have been a genius. He had to wear a bag for awhile, but he finally healed to the point that the doctor was finally able to "hook up the plumbing" again.
  12. He was a late surprise, his oldest brother is 27, the next closest sibling is 22. So as he was learning to talk and interact with ppl his siblings were teenagers, I blame them for his sarcastic bite, lol.
  13. My ten year old is something else, what is he you ask? A quick witted smart eleck! He is struggling a little lately in school, so tonight at bed time immediately after devotions and prayer, I related to him some scripture that went along with the devotions. It was about doing the best u can with whatever task you are doing. The retiredbosn paraphrase is "do the best you can at work (school in his case), act as though you are doing it for God". So after my little pep talk I stupidly ask " What do you think about that?" His reply? He literally sighs and says "inspired"! I am in soooo much trouble, his teenage years are going to be fun
  14. So u can get them like this "welcome to Walmart, get your crap and get out"
  15. Don't ya love the estimate process now?? Recently I've had to hire a lawyer, initial consults are averaging 200 bucks for 30 minutes. I remember when estimates and initial consults were free. In your instance the first guy knew what the problem was, anybody who has a background in construction would have. But it cost u allot to find out.
  16. Prayers sent for a speedy recovery
  17. I think most of the confusion is that few ppl know what a meme is. I had to look it up, seems that an old archaic word is making a comeback. Meme is simply an idea, trend etc that is spread through a culture. I.E. in common vernacular a fad. Like ppl calling each other dog, ******, etc
  18. Precisely why I asked where you were wanting to move. You'll be in a very accepting part of the state, as many transplanted people as there are natives. You're not far enough west in the state to be in the mountains, apparently us mountain folk are the same everywhere deep distrust of outsiders. This will not be such a big deal in the Charlotte area. Weather is very mild, if u see a snowflake it will be rare, plus you get to laugh at the locals, there will be a run on the grocery stores, apparently snow is the major sign of the apocalypse here, Google a cost of living calculator, there u can compare the cost of living by zipcode, but in general it is low, compared to any mountain area, gas here in SC is $2.43 a gallon. The economy there is in decent shape, you may find a better paying job. Like I said earlier allot to do, friendly ppl, great climate, cost of living isn't bad. PS Where is Mount Hood? Thought that was in Oregon??
  19. Each update has gotten better, praying that it continues
  20. Go down to the "Everything Else" section, there you will find a tutorial for posting pictures, it's in the pinned section near the top of page.
  21. My first wife brought home an ugly artificial white Christmas tree one year, she always insisted on live trees. I asked "why" her response, "it was only a few dollars". I threw it in the trash that week, she never missed it or asked about it, and never understood why it was a complete and utter waste of money.
