  1. yeah I think I will stay with the space monkey
  2. Ok it seems people think the amount of gas money I stated was very high. My partner and I drive to the tournament togther and yes it is team tournaments. We done all the gasing with me present we start each day with a full tank in the truck and boat refill each at the end of the day and split the Cost.
  3. i say twenty five to thrirty is pitching other wise a smooth roll cast may be more accurate and can be just as queit enterring the water if done propperly. I use this alot fishing spinner baits and jigs. use a low trajectory cast and just as the lure enters the water lift up on the rod and ease it into the water. goes in quiet and the blades start turning as soon as it enters. with jig after entry I give it slack and let it free fall on semi slack line and watch for any movement.
  4. Happy Birth day . Tight lines
  5. now we got the shaved beaver my favorite kind. Ok seriously I fish the beaver around grass and tubes around rock and barren flats. It seems the beaver works better around grass for me. Fishing in the south I have had more success with the Beaver style baits. I either go with the rodent or the sweat beaver. But in the north part of vermont the tubes work for me on the rocky banks and flats for smallies.
  6. Just wait till you get to fishing the shad. Its and amazing little bait. Rig her up on a 5\0 ewg superline hook and hang on. Fish just try and destroy the shad. I like throwing them in the morning over grass mats and aroud pads. But they will produce anywere. The frog is awesome too. The whole line is great and produces fish. The Anna is a big fish killer too.
  7. I say the new quantum energy. Its my favorite reel that I own.
  8. I just got a new quantum and I can tell you I really like it . I purchased the new energy and it is the smoothest reel that I have ever owned right out of the box. I own 3 other quantums and only had the cheap one have the gears not fully engage at first crank. This model is and older one. I also own a kvd model that I got as a gift It gets used hard and still works good. Its needs a good cleaning though
  9. As a non boater also I try to bring only 3-5 rods just to keep down the clutter in the back of the boat. My partner is a good guy and doesnt mind what I bring. But I try to be respectful. I own 8 or 9 setup but I always carry with me my 7'4'' diawa frog rod with 50 pound braid it doubles out as my flipping stick. My next rod is my St croix teaser rod that I use for senkos and tubes and creature baits. Then my two crankin rods and a 6'8'' bps elite series that i use for spinnerbaits and top waters . I keep all my tackle in a small backpack. I try to bring an extra bag of plastics that I know he may not be familar with that I plan on fishing. If it works, I have enough for both of us. My advice do your research pack light and be ready to move. Help at the end of the day cleaning up the boat and leave it cleaner then you got there. Make sure not to leave disgarded plastics and line in the boat. And brind 75-100 dollars to make sure you have enough for splitting the gas in the boat and his truck. It usually cost me 35 to 60 dollars for a day depending on where we fish and how much and far we need to run. I try to also divide the boat in half and never cast up into his water. Hope this helps Andrew
  10. i wondered about these rods two good price point. I have yet to find a store in the area that has these in stock
  11. You could be right, it may be the power pro on the elite series. I got stealth on my frog rod and its much quiter. Again I think the recoils are great quiedes. I would not hesitate to get a BPS elite series.
  12. I have fished the wake shad and its a good bait. I really like that I can burn it over the top and it make a commotion. I have had a few good fish on it . Definelty is a bait worth a try.
  13. i have the Lt frog rod its a good stick my farvorite no. For a little more I would get a quantum tour flippin stick from tacklewarhouse they are on sale. I used the gary klein model a few weeks ago o. that my partner owns and its by far a much better flippin stick. For weightless soft plastics look at the st croix ltb teaser. I can not say enough about this rod.
  14. Using braid the recoil quiedes are quite load. I love the elite series rod though very sensitive and a awesome stick. I have two bps reels and they are top notch for me also.
  15. I have a 7 foot cranking stick from the older series and its a solid rod the reel is ok. I would say go for it for 59 dollors.
  16. Top= Zara spook or the vixen Shallow = RC 1.5 or series 1xs , 4s , red eye Mid depth = series 4 red eye Deep = Fat free and Series 5 and Series 6 I like to fish things a little different to most. I will dig the shallow with a deep bait just to kick up bottom. I will run a mid depth at speed over deep rock pile to trigger some smallies. But the luckys are my favorite but the price I like the Strike king baits
  17. i own the 7 10 and love it. i cant wait to add more to the arsenal.i have a more detailed review in the linked thread
  18. Bob and I have been swamped at work so were going in blind. But we always have fun. I am looking forward to seeing the Big O for the first time.
  19. I have had a chance to get my 7 10 for a few outings now. I been fishing from shore and have used it with red eyes and series 4s, 5 and 6s . The ponds that are in the neighbor hood lend well to cranking from shore. It definetly loads well you can throw a bait 20 to thirty yards further then with a 7 foot rod. The rod is still quite long but light I have a little fatigue in my arm at the end of the day but I was yo yoing the red eye for 5 hours today. I would comfortably recommend this rod to anyone. The one thing that I would say is you move alot of line while sweeping this rod so the yo yo technique took some time to adjust to the added length of the rod. It is quiet sensitive and I could feel like strikes at a full cast. There is plenty of power to fight big fish with this yet forgiving to the point that you will not pull out the hooks. The one think I would like is a little more traction out of the foam grips. This is my first foam grip rod so its taking a while to adjust to it. I will definetly be adding more of these to the arsenal
  20. boca you wondering if he is one of our guys huh. Looking forward to saturday got a new rod for the outing.
  21. I just purchased a Energy pt last night for my kvd launcher and its solid little reel much small very smooth. Handles well and is easy to palm with my small hands. If the reel holds up I will be very excited.
  22. So far I have been impressed with my bps reels. I have JM Signature and that is also a high speed reel. Its a little on the heavy side and his very large for me to palm. I am smallguy with little hands so I actually prefer the PQ real. I may grab another during the spring sale to put on a JM elite rod that I have.
  23. I have the new model since x mas. I got the 7 :1 version. Its a solid little real and casts well very smooth. It took some time to get the reel adjusted but its very solid. I would recommend it to any one, I use it for throwing creatures and senkos
  24. Yes this is the kvd rod. I put the new energy pt power model on it. Igot out with it in the dark last night at my parents pond its long I can throw clearly 30 yards past my other cranking set up. The reel is very smooth and balances well on the rod. I managed to catch two fish on it it has plenty of power to move a fish. The length of the rod took some time to adjust to you can clearly move a lot of line. I will post a more detailed review when I can use it for a bit
  25. Man I went into BPS in FT lauderdale tonight and was walking the isles found the 7 10 launcher and then the energy power model. Tried to walk away tried to even drag my self out of the store. I then bought it turned around almost returned it but I kept it. Spooled it all up with some XPS floro and may try some casts tonight just to see how it goes. Could not help myself either from getting a couple of red eyes and series 4s cranks. Man i can not wait to get this out on the boat
