Braid As A Leader
You can donate to kids using a cane pole and bobber type fishing. I usually do this when I see some kids fishing around where I fish.

New Jdm Shimanos
Hmmm "Stealth Bob" I like it

Reels With Twitching Bar
Its a nice add on similar to some reels with a flipping switch. But for me its not a "must have feature" for all reels. I usually use my rod holding hand to flick the handle to move the lures similar to what the twitching bar does.

What Size Spinning Reel?
Usually I use C2000s, or C2500s sizes. (shallow spools) and a standard C2500 or an extra Spool of it. I like using shallow spools since I mainly use spinning reels for light line finesse applications and eliminates the use of too much backing vs regular spools. The regular/extra spool is used if a need bigger line when throwing finesse baits around medium thick cover or under over hanging trees.

Best Application?
Braid = Frogging, punching, Jungle/Garden Fishing (Heavy Cover), Flossing my teeth when when out of Floss, Sewing my torn jeans while bank fishing, When my daughter needs a few yards for her art class projects. Mono = Crankbaits (Stretch help on keeping them hooked), Windy Conditions, small light wired hooked baits, When my daughter needs a few yards for her art class projects, Christmas Decoration setup, Flossing my teeth when out of floss and braid, Either Braid or Mono - Other techniques I can use either Braid or Mono. Spinnerbaits, dropshots, wacky rigs, Jigs, T/C rigs, Cane Pole, etc.

Baitcaster Or Spinning Rod
"I'm looking to buy a new rod but am not sure what kind of rod to get. I currently own all spinning rods but am starting to bass fish more. I want to be able to fish Texas rigs, crankbaits, and pretty much anything on the rod. I was thinking about getting a at croix avid medium or medium heavy fast action spinning rod or a medium or medium heavy fast action duckett ghost Baitcaster. Not sure what to get " Since you have a bunch of spinning combo's already and starting to enjoy Bass fishing more, I will suggest you to get a good quality Baitcasting setup this time so you can learn a new bass fishing tool. Curado, Daiwa, Lews, Abu, Quantum etc are some of the leading reel makers on the market, its up to you which you choose. There a many rod makers out there so I advice you to focus more on the type of fishing techniques you will do on the rod. " Texas rigs, crankbaits, and pretty much anything on the rod" I suggest to look at MH power, Fast Action, 6'6" to 7' models. Most guys I know (me included) use these specs for their Allround use rods. Ignore the spinning vs Baitcasting debate, in my honest opinion its a waste of good fishing time. I don't understand why people even debate about it. In my opinion its like using a spoon and a fork. A spoon is good for soup, rice, ice cream etc. A fork is good for spaghetti, meats, veggies etc. and they go together when enjoying your full meal and deserts. You can use a fork for your soup but its not suited for it and same goes for spoon when eating spaghetti. Each of them has a their weak and strong points so rather than debating which is better, stronger, farther just learn on how to use them effectively and enjoy fishing.

Back Pack Fishers.......does The Stuff Ratting In Your Pack Drive U Insane?
Use ear plugs or MP3 player with nice head phones Just kidding. I use some soft foam (used in packaging) or Styro foam. Cut them out to fit the plano box sections. I stick the hooks on the styro foam and the soft foam to prevent the other stuff rattlin'.

Feathering Line When Using Baitcasters
Usually feathering the spool is done when you are targeting exposed structure or you like to present the lure with a controlled, stealthy way during splash down. I also feather my spool when pitching to cover around the banks. I also feather the spool when casting to the wind or to prevent/stop birdsnest during a cast.

Question About Special Purpose Rod/reel Setups

Bearing Recommendation For Chronarch 51E
For normal everyday fishing (Stock Reel): Flushed Bearings are more than enough. If Need replacing: Boca (abec 5 or 7) will be great. If you are planning to convert it to a Bait Finesse reel: Look at Hedgehog Air Bearings (+shallow spools). If you are a Reel Junkie and loves to pimp reels: Look at Japanese sites like, Hedgehog, Baka-rush, ZPI, KTF etc

Spinning Reel
Its more a personal preference for me (shimano user for 20+ years) I also use other brands (daiwa, abu) but I gravitate more on shimanos. Suggest to check it out on your local store if they have it or ask a buddy who has it and fish with it a few times. Some details from TW site Featuring Shimano's new C14+ construction which is 250% stronger than the original CI4 material, the new Shimano Stradic CI4+ Spinning Reel is also loaded with Shimano's latest spinning reel technologies. -Ultra-lightweight CI4+ Frame, Sideplate and Rotor Construction -X-Ship -Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement -Propulsion Line Management System: Propulsion Spool Lip, SR One-Piece Bail Wire, Power Roller III, Redesigned Bail Trip, S-Arm Cam -Aero Wrap II Oscillation -SR-Concept: SR 3D Gear, SR Handle, SR One-Piece Bail Wire -S A-RB Ball Bearings -Aluminum Spool -S-Concept: S-Rotor, S-Guard, S-Arm Cam -Machined Aluminum Handle -Direct Drive Mechanism (Thread In Handle Attachment) -Round EVA Handle Grip -WP Drag (Waterproof Drag) -Magnumlite Rotor -Maintenance Port -Fluidrive II -Floating Shaft -Dyna-Balance -Super Stopper II -Repairable Clicker

Spinning Reel
A little over your budget but the Stradic Ci4 and Ci4+ has the Black and Red Motiff. I have the Rarenium Ci4 (its Japanese cousin) drag is smooth.

Unboxing A New Baitcast Reel --> Maintenance?
Get an initial out of the box test - crank it to check for roughness, check drag if its smooth, any scratches, burrs, nicks on parts, check the clutch if its engaging and disengaging properly, check for abnormal noise and do some practice casts on the yard. If the spool bearings have grease flush them and put 1 drop of oil. Wipe the places where excess grease are seen. Apply proper lubes on parts that might need re-applying (Worm gear, Handle knobs etc) Wipe the whole reel down with a lint free cloth to remove other surface dirt, grease or oils.

Missing A Micro Guide Insert....think I'll Be Good??
Its an easy fix and materials are readily available. You will also gain knowledge and confidence in the future. This is one reason I always pick up old discarded rods or reels (if im lucky) I see around the places I fish and strip them for spare parts for quick DIY repair jobs.

Most Used Braid Color
Yellow Braid mainline (with FC leader) I watch the line more when detecting bites. Yellow is the most visible for me in the waters I fish.

Opinions Curado I
They have...it attracts fishermen Kidding aside, yeah they don't have physical magnets on the curado I. I have the the 201HG and its a great reel for burning buzzbaits. The non-handle side plate needs a little getting used to when opening and closing.

Shallow Spool And Braid
I use a foot or two of 6 or 8 lbs mono for backing on my shallow spools. It wont eat up your line capacity.
-
What Do You Use To Clean Up The Inside Of The Reel?
Dish washing soap with warm water + soft bristle toothbrush on plastic (non-metal) parts, bare frame and side plates, Mild degreaser + Hard BristleToothbrush on metal parts (pinion gears, main, gear, drive shafts, rachets etc) after rinsing and drying will do some polishing. Acetone or lighter fluid on bearings.

Are You A Tackle Junkie / Hoarder? When Do You Know?
"When does it change from just being a fisherman with a nice arsenal to an addictive thing? I think I passed junkie status long ago.crepping towards being a hoarder. what are the signs.....................?" When the local Bass pro shops is knocking on your door asking if you can sell a few tackle to help them re-stock the store.

Hi-Vis Line
HI-VIS Yellow Sufix PB for Allround use HI-VIS Pink Sufix Nanobraid for BFS use. I tie a short leader on both to provide a break away line just in case a I hit a snag that would not pull out. When flipping/pitching to weeds I tie straight braid no leader.

More Banning Of The Arig..
IGFA Ruling on the A-Rig/Umbrella rig: http://www.igfa.org/About/Umbrella-Rigs-and-******-Hooks----NOT-IGFA-Legal.aspx In my honest opinion the phrase "they hamper the fighting capability of the fish during the fight" in IGFA's ruling is giving the fish a fair chance to fight back when hooked. With the profile of the A-Rig it will create a significant amount of drag that will hamper its ability to jump, run, shake the hook etc. effectively. We are all caught up on the idea that its not fair to anglers but we did not think if its fair to the fish. That's why Bass is a considered a game fish, its you vs the Bass.

Ever Caught A Bass Or Fish W/ A Lure In It's Mouth???
We where fishing for grouper on a pier near a beach a few years back. The pier was a quite known for its quality grouper sizes. My buddy got a good sized grouper with 9 circle hooks around its mouth (10 if you count his).
