  1. Jimbo is a good friend of mine! He used to live up here in northern Virginia and fish the occoquan res as a younger man! I love that guy! If you get a chance to get out there with him, tell him little Jon said hello!
  2. Dock talk, I usually don't even engage in it. Plenty of times I've been badgerd by dummis at ramps, I usually just shake my head and continue on with my day. There is no way I'm going to let some idiot ruin my day. Can't let that happen, no way, no how. I get on with my day with an "enjoy the rest of your life" and go fish!!
  3. Google maps, they are your friend!!
  4. End of next week would be the time to go!!
  5. Hemlock is in my opinion, better later in the year. Spring rains kinda make it a little tougher!
  6. Thanks Wayne! That is deffinatly something everyone should have if fishing hunting run. I was fortunate enough to fish there the second day it was open to the public and it was a day I will remember the rest of my life! Between myself and the guy I was fishing with, we probably had close to 80 fish with at least half of those fish over 4lbs with a dozen or so over 5! Lost a couple really big fish as well. Water was probably 10-12 ft lower that day than current levels but I do remember quite a few areas that had magical cover and structure! Your map will help me to reconstruct those memories!! Nothing like hooking a good fish and have 4 bigger fish follow it to the boat!!
  7. You need to be a resident and have a key for access or know someone with a key. I wouldn't park in the culdesac before the gate!
  8. Not much shore fishing access on the res. fishing pier at fountainhead is about it unless you feel like hiking around the bull run marina. Look at hemlock park. It's the upper streaches of bull run. Some nice smallmouth can be had from shore there
  9. Sundays tournament was full on wackage! First place over 29, second over 26, third and fourth over 25! Came in fifth with over 24! Another 7 pounder also weighed! Come one guys, the res is on fire!!!
  10. 23.08 and 23.09 were first and second place yesterday!! We also had a 7 pounder weighed in....... it was not in either the first or second place bag!!
  11. Hey Sonny! Sorry I didn't get to this quicker. The ramp that you met me requires a pass and key. Let me know if you want to drop the boat in and I'll get you in there!!
  12. It was very tough. 30 boats, only 13 boats caught fish and most of them only caught 1or 2! Big fish was 6.6 and winners had a little over 14. Winners had 3 fish with that big one, no 6 fish limits that's for sure!! Some fish were caught shallow at the end of the day. Partner and I only had 1 short fish and one other bite, makes for an extra frustrating long day!
  13. I know of smallies caught as far down the res as Sandy! I caught one of my biggest around the fingers area but most of the ones I catch are in the splits and up in bull run. Had one well over 5 hooked up and lost at the boat a few years ago!!
  14. Occoquan res in November and December.
