  1. J, I think that's it in a nutshell. I guess I just can't let it fester! Being a mod, you have to be a little more diplomatic about such situations!!
  2. I find it amusing that it's frowned upon to challenge a questionable post of a fish pic that someone estimates the weight. Those that have consistently shown such high reguard for recording weights with said pictures? Those people to me are beyond reproach. It's usually the randos that are fairly new to the forum that are trying to fit in or make a statement by "pushing " the fish at the camera to generate a larger profile! That my friends is unacceptable! Why they do it is anybody's guess, but most of the guys and gals on this forum that take the time to validate their big fish, will go unquestioned to me!
  3. Few guys can get 25mph two people, all their gear and full livewell! My speed is just me, gear and empty livewell.
  4. A World Cup baby! Nice!! Congrats and good luck to you and momma
  5. Not sure you would save any weight with the starboard stuff. Did mine last year with aluminum, like slo said, it is a little noisier but I like how mine turned out just fine. Top speed 27mph! That's pretty fast for the res!!
  6. I guess we need to start looking at fish that big O and Dwight post! They look really suspect to me now!!
  7. Let's just say we are all eating from the same table, but just enjoying our own plate! I know that when I post a picture of a good fish, if I don't weigh it, I won't give it a weight "value" unless I have personally weighed the fish. There are a good many posters that guesstimate what their fish weighs. Why is it such a personal assault to call "BS" on said fish, especially if it looks to be something it's not??
  8. Up for interpretation I guess, but I'm not going to blows over someone inflating their catch size! I would gently suggest they reconsider their "guesstimate" and put the fish on some sort of weighing device to more accurately portray the weight!!Really, a fight??!! You're as bad as Lund lol!!
  9. When I think post front, post spawn, blue bird skies, I start shallow water, close to deep water. My search then goes to what cover is in those areas. I want my bait presentation to be very accurate as close to the cover as possible with as small an entry slash as possible. Rinse and repeat! If my results are not what I expect, I then look at deeper water with moving baits and see if the bass are suspended at a particular depth. Taking not of that depth, I look for any breaks and fish those depths slowly and methodically. It might not be pretty or fast paced but it should get you some bites!!
  10. I would go with 1/2oz on 15lb floro in open water at those depths. If you are fishing in and around "super sticky stuff" bump it up to 17lb.
  11. Try backing off the lay downs a little bit or look for the nearest drop off close to the lay downs it doesn't have to be a drastic drop, 1-2ft, try the same bait in that area, they obviously liked it enough!!
  12. Why do people do it, falsify the weight of their fish? I don't really care, just don't do it around me because I'll call you out every time!
  13. Nice! I was out Saturday and caught a few making their way deeper, only one good fish and lots of small fish. Hit a big log floating just at the surface and busted a bracket on my outboard, not happy. Just about threw me out of the boat! Be careful out there and make sure you have your kill switch hooked up!!
  14. Nitro or Sam might be able to give you the flavor of the day on lake Anna. Nothing beats first hand trial and error tho! Use baits that will make bottom contact at the depth you are fishing. Look at long tapering points and see if you can graph bait and bass with the bait. Stumps and other cover will be a bonus. Never hurts to get info from the ramp you are launching from either. Good luck!
  15. The offshore bite is just about to start happening! And yes, it can be very rewarding!!
  16. Scrounger, period.
  17. When I get them good on those swimmies, most of the time I can't even see the bait till they are in the net and it's just totally engulfed! I have had days when they do that, just throw the bait at the end, very frustrating indeed. I also think sometimes the bigger fish will just have the bait locked in their crushers and blow the bait! You can't fix that with any rod, reel, or line...... It just happens!

Ultra man was like daily Godzilla back in the day!!
  19. I have the gen 3 winch and like it very much. If you are going to go glass for your rod, stick with floro. I tried mono with a glass rod and missed way too many fish! The floro helps with feel as well as a reduced amount of stretch. A glass rod will have all the give you need when hooking a big fish deep!!

Just hit that milestone myself! Personally, nothing beats a home made burger! Thinking back, time machine mode, I always remember Sunday night tv. Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom and then Disney- those were the days!!
  21. Tom is spot on! During summer tournaments, I try to maintain my livewell temps around 10* colder than my surface temp readings and if I'm catching fish deep have fin weights available for the fish that are having difficulty maintaining equilibrium! I try to minimize time spent out of the water as well.
  22. Not a fan of my face or space book, but im gonna use that one!!
  23. I'll go out on a limb and say its "more fun!"
  24. Evidently a disabled child got lost in the woods so they had half of Faifax counties finest looking! Bigger question would be, where were this child's parents??!!
  25. I hear ya! That place is very hit ad miss. Should be a lot of fish guarding fry, shouldn't be too hard to get them to bite! Good luck and let us know how you do!
