  1. Yes and yes. Be careful when you do go up there for the first time, lots of dead heads just below the surface. Study your map and stay in the channel. Pay attention to the lay downs that extend over the channel edge.
  2. I know a lot of tx's in my area if you win, you are required to take a lie detector test and one of the questions is have you or did you ingest any alcohol or drugs during the tx!
  3. WATCH ANY OTHER ANGLERS AND NOTE WHERE THEY ARE FISHING AND WHAT THEY ARE THROWING Sam, I wouldn't teach anyone to be a bent rod!!
  4. It's tough to fix rude! I guess you could fight fire with fire and go around him and cut him off, not sure you would want to perpetuate that kind of behavior! I've had it happen as well and just find some place else to fish, really not worth my time or energy to argue with that type of mentality!!
  5. I got out yesterday, ran right up to Ryan's dam and proceeded to put the smack down on them. Best 5 around 20lbs! Shakey head caught the biggest right around 5. My favorite pet lure caught the majority of fish, probably caught 30+ fish from 1:30-5:00! One of the better days I've had out there in a while.
  6. I've been using the KVD fat finess worm!
  7. Sure, plus the wife said I would drive her crazy if she didn't get her alone time as well!!
  8. Wait till you start getting your bait back with the split ring attached to the hook! Those are the biggun's!!
  9. Turn right, go upstream and explore. Lots of stuff to fish that way and the possibility of a nice smallie!!

My wife and I got a chance to hang out and play with the dogs yesterday and tried to get a feeling for which ones would be the right for us. Here are some pics of the three that are available. This is Cruse, he is the one that I saw at the adoption. This is my wife with Daisy. This is Steve. Steve has some serious issues but has a really sweet personality. He will not go thru doorways leading outside, but once outside is alright. He's very skittish and takes a long time to approach. Cruse is incredibly ball motivated when outside and playing and only partially potty trained. Daisy is perfect! We want to adopt 2. I don't think we have the time to really get Steve past all of his issues. Saturday we have the home visit with Daisy and Cruse, if they get along with the cats, we will have 2 new additions to our house! Thanks for all the responses guys, I really appreciate all the input and success stories!
  11. Use the search function and look at past posts on the res. lots of good info!
  12. I run into this problem from time to time. Not being able to give the proper tone or inflection in an email or text. I try not to judge anyone by these means of communication, you just can't get all the inflection by written words alone. I don't pretend to know anyone on this forum personally until I actually meet them and spend time with them to get an idea of their personality. That being said, when I saw some of the responses from everyone, I thought it would be wise to see if statements would be explained by more than just one post. MCS's first post, startled some folks, myself included. Having read a lot of his responses and posts, I waited for his thoughts and they were clearly formed and made perfect sense. We all have the ability to do what we know and believe to be right in our own situation. Do these things translate from one person to another, most of the time, no. I have no doubt anyone here with a pet would do what they believe is the right thing, regardless of what someone less would do. I'm glad your dog was jig free, don't think for a second that anyone here is not worth your time, stay, enjoy what this site has to offer!

AJ, I'm in northern Virginia. I appreciate everyone's input. My wife and I are going to have a visit with 3 dogs from the same litter that was rescued together. I will take some pics and post them later this evening! Honestly, I'm a little excited to spend some time with them all together. I wish I had a big yard with lots of space, I would take all of them!
  14. ^^^^ this is what I think about baseball!!
  15. I had a dog eat a cork from a wine bottle once, did exactly what a cork is supposed to do! Blocked him right at the point from the stomach to the intestines. Funny part of that was it was from a winery that has a dog as its mascot........... cork said "WOOF" on it! Surgery required, dog recovered nicely!! Hope everything works out with your pup!

Well, it's been a year since I've had a dog in the house. Had to put both dogs to sleep last year and find myself a bit lost and a little un motivated since then. I've been looking at shelters and rescues for the past month and told my wife about it and she wasn't 100% on board with the idea as she was still mourning the loss of our other dogs. I said she would have to be alright with it for us to do it again and she was warming up to the possibility! So on a whim went to the local Petsmart and they had a German Shepard rescue group there so we looked at some of the dogs they had for adoption. One of the dogs available caught our attention so we spent a little time with him. We got the story on his and his litter mates. My theory is two dogs are not much more to take care of than one and they are happier as a pack together! The dogs are about a year old and believe me, they will need some TLC and a good deal of work but, I'm up for it! The dogs are brother and sister sheppard/hound mix, about 35lbs and will get to about 50lbs. If the home visit goes well and we are approved, we are seriously thinking of adopting the two!! Anyone else have a similar experience, I'd love to hear some feedback Thanks
  17. I'm in. I just enjoy the texture of the EPL style of play. I like to see how the newly promoted teams respond to the next level the most!
  18. tomustang, only if you do the dance as you exit the boat!! Laughing at the visual!! Mine would have to be The Black Keys - Thickfreakness
  19. I know you are chomping at the bit to get on the water! The advice everyone is giving you is do it right the first time. Don't get a trolling motor to just get you by untill next year, the hassle of doing things twice will more than make up for getting the correct motor the first time!!
  20. LMBV has been in the Potomac for a while now. I thought it had run its course at Kerr a couple years ago and the fish population was rebounding nicely. Might curb the population of snakeys. Tough to say tho, only time will tell!
  21. You learn to fish a DD22 and you should be good to go!!
  22. ^^^^^ Ha! I'm hardly the person you want as a guide out there! I really appreciate the thought, but sooo many other sticks out there that really fish that place well!
  23. Thanks guys! It just takes time on the water. I've put in 25 years on this place but only in the last few years have I really started to feel like I can be consistent. I also think that my decision making has gotten better. A lot of that credit goes to what I read here on BR! Sometimes you have to read between the lines and learn from your mistakes but much of what gets posted in several sections here will translate to every place we fish and will result in more fish caught! Plus, you can only watch me fish if you can keep up with me out there! LOL! One big hint to being successful from post spawn till the temp drops into the 40's.......... the wind is your friend!!
  24. Sorry, yes, down lake is generally deeper, you can go way up in the rivers, bull run of the lake Jackson side and catch fish. The res fishes like three different bodies of water. Down lake fishes just like a reservoir the middle fishes a little more like a lake, and bull run and the lake Jackson side fish like rivers. It's a great place to fish and learn. Lots of wildlife. Just my favorite place to fish!!
  25. One spot I will let you in on, the second is not a community hole and just can't let out! Head up lake and fish just above Ryan's dam at the mouth of red house creek. Nice little drop on the down lake side of the creek, just above the dam. A graph helps a great deal this time of year, especially when fishing unfamiliar off shore stuff, it's important to find the depth the bait is holding and try to look for tha bass feeding just below them. This time of year the bait that is not visible, or nervous as my friend puts it, hold a little closer to the thermocline. When you find the depth they are holding, you can start running a little bit of a pattern out there by running to points and targeting that depth. You can also eliminate areas if you don't graph the bait in those areas!
