  1. Maybe I'm in the minority, but, I was only given one set of eyes and I want them to work every time I open them till the day I pass! If you loose them or break them, you need to try and not do that!, I'm going to look for the glasses that offer me the most protection I can afford. Haber. Check them out. Reasonably priced and great protection. I have had them for 4 years now, take care of them and don't wear them to work. I have a decent pair of Bolle' that I use for work. Not very expensive, found them on sale and have had them for 6 years. Knock wood, haven't lost or broken them but if I do, I'm going to find me another pair of Haber's with the quickness!!
  2. What can I say, one of the biggest venues for the punk rock scene, I was 18 in '82 (legal to drink back then) and I enjoyed a good show and some libations and other stuff as well! *wink*wink*
  3. Lets see, my misspent youth in the eighties at the 9:30 club TSOL, meat puppets, hoodoo gurus, circle jerks, dream syndicate, the three o'clock, lets active, X Other shows Tom petty, driving and crying, stiff little fingers, the cure, echo and the bunnymen, go go's, flock of seagulls, smithereens, Rolling Stones, U2, the black keys, buddy guy, Los lobos, I'm sure I've missed a bunch. I've seen a lot of these multiple times especially Buddy Guy, I've seen him at least 5 times! That man is flat out amazing! Best show hands down has to be stiff little fingers 30th anniversary of inflammable material album!
  4. J, my smallest gets a white tag (white out!)
  5. I think if you want to be efficient, you have to be accurate. Get a scale that will keep track of your weight "as you go." This way, when the time comes to get the dink out, it's quick and simple. Don't skimp on a culling system, it might take an extra minute to do it correctly, but doing so will keep you from having to guess when you cull.
  6. Wow! Pretty! Should be a looker in the veritas!

Decided since I had a little time and the weather was nice, why not go fish for a bit! Had my sights set on a couple places that might give me an opportunity to pull the string. Both place kinda frown on fishermen but since it was Sunday, thought my chances were good I could get a few casts in without too much resistance. Only had one stick and a bag of baits and my covert outing was on! Got to the pond and 3/4 covered with ice, hmmmmmmmmm......... The bank I wanted to try was free so off I go. About 10 casts in and boom, it's on! Nice little chunk and my day was made! Very next cast I hook up again with what felt like a much bigger fish but pulled off a couple turns of the handle, ugh! Had one othe fish but lost it trying to get it to the bank! Happy to catch one and get some bites! Get out there and make it happen, you just never know until you try! Don't let the ice keep you from giving it a go!!
  8. For the guys running smaller tin rigs, the OMC 12/24 is a go to! These little TM's are virtually bullet proof! On a glass rig, you probably need more thrust and usually are going to a 36v configuration anyway.
  9. If its nice and flat that Saturday morning, the south point at pohick might be primed for some striper! Big zara and scrounger and swimbait action!! I know people that have been spooled right there!!
  10. If you get out around the mouth of pohick where it meets the river, you may get the rod ripped out of your had by a big rockfish chucking those big baits!!
  11. The res is a funny place (from my many years fishing there.) mid to late March if the weather is somewhat normal, should be pre spawn. Spinnerbaits, jigs, square bills, creature baits, jerkbaits will all produce on the res. check the edges of flats where they come out of deep water, edges of cuts and guts on the bluffy areas, the first third of major creeks. If we start to get some warmer weeks prior to that mid March time you could find them very shallow so don't count anything out. PM me before you make your trip and I will let you know how far along the fish are and give you some areas to try!
  12. Wayne, I don't think you will be disappointed with the snakey action! I talked with Dan: and he said you should be able to sight fish for them and they will pursue a bait that will give you a truly visual thrill! I think the snakeheads are more so relating to the edges and holes rather than under and buried in the grass. When you get into the right areas you will be able to clearly see that it's a snake rather than a bass! The biggest snakeheads I've seen have all come from Pohick so chances are good that you will hook and catch a few!
  13. You need some goals, not sure Torres would be my choice LOL!!! RVP!! I know how much you love some MU!
  14. When you guys upgrade, please let me know, I will gladly buy them!! For a little tin boat those things are magical!!! Buckeye, PM me I will buy it when you upgrade!

Thoughts and prayers to you and your father. My dad went thru this about a year ago, caught very early, treated at the cancer center in Jacksonville Fla. University of Florida and is cancer free today! He was very upbeat and did his research and knew exactly how he wanted his treatment and the best place to have it!!
  16. Very cool!! I bet you have as much or more fun than he does!!!
  17. Nice! In the mid to late eighties, I was on a soccer camp coaching staff that included several women's national players as well as a coue of then first division English league players. I learned sooo much from them in the 6+ years we ran those camps! One of the girls is now the head coach of the UCLA woman's soccer team and her father was at one point the assistant head coach of the woman's national team. He also took our club team and won the McGuire cup in 1982! I love and know the beautiful game, wish I could still play and coach but I've had 3 ACL recons and I enjoy the ability to walk more than coaching and playing!! Keep the kids interested and I have no doubt the boy could get an apprenticeship with a top notch club, who knows, by then it might be fashionable to play in the MLS!!
  18. Raider, I would get in there straight away and try to get your kids learning the fundamentals. Proper technique, ball control, spacing, correct surfaces, etc. I coached H.S and travel teams and had unbelievable coaches while I played that truly instilled hard work and correct knowledge of the game. Soccer camps as well are great for kids learning the game. Above all, keep it fun! You can do both at the same time. The worst thing in the world is someone who hasn't a clue about the game try to teach it!!!!
  19. Ok, ok....... I'll be there! I am looking forward to putting faces with those that are not in avatars plus seeing those that I have already had the pleasure of meeting!!
  20. They are a nice boot tail swimbait. I put them on jig heads and the a rig and like everyone else use superglue as they will wear to the point that they slip down the jighead after a few fish. Well worth a try in my opinion!
  21. Don't be so hard on yourself. This is something that everyone has encountered in fishing soooooo many times that you stop getting frustrated by it and try to determine what you did learn from the outing as well as knowing that any day you can get after them is a good day!! You got outside, you enjoyed all that nature had to offer. Did you catch any fish? No, but it was a heck of a day none the less!! Always remember, those of us that have been chasing the little green trout for a great many years started out as a beginner, we are all here to help you make the transition into a successful angler. Ask questions, put time in on the water whenever possible and don't get frustrated and quit or give up, it's all a process, learn to enjoy it!!!
  22. The weekend you guys chose is not a tx weekend for me so I'm very much leaning to try and get out one day with you guys or at the very least get together with everyone for some frosty beverages after you finish fishing!!
  23. For those of you that are not familiar with fishing grass mats with braid and 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 oz punching weights, it is extreamly dangerous. Your weight will literally become a bullet if you do not hook the fish. Do yourselves a favor and read up on the technique before you jump out there and try it for the first time!!
  24. Endless you should be fine, they rent 14' Jon boats there and Dan floats around down there in a 12'er!!
  25. That right thar is some funny interwebz videoing!
