  1. A guilty conscience, she wants to relieve her burden. Had a girl do that to me. I told her " whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night."
  2. Looks like you guys had much better success finding willing fish. I only had 2 bites and caught both. Second fish was a real knot head!
  3. Only two fish on the res today. This was the best one. Jb
  4. What is the retrieve on that smoke? I find that the HS reels seem to lay the vanish on the spool in such a way that if you don't have a very educated thumb, the odds of a professional overrun are high!!
  5. Never had a problem with vanish. Not to say it doesn't happen but jeezsh, that line is not bad!
  6. All tx's are open to anyone who wants to fish them. Each angler pays a one time $10 insurance fee plus entry for each tx. Top 15 teams at the end of the year, + 2 provisional teams ( 16&17 provided they have fished every tx) fish the end of the year 2 day classic. Great group of guys, we have been doing this for 20+ years now!!
  7. When it's open, Fountainhead regional park. When it's closed, lakeridge, bullrun, or hooes run. You should check out the Fountainhead bass club website. Buddy tx's, 6 fish limit. Some nice fish in that water. Ranked pretty high in Va.!
  8. I'm going tomorrow. Gotta get me some more on the res! Gonna try some other spots and try not to be so stubborn!!
  9. Thanks Brick, I like the looks of those, I'm going to get some myself!!
  10. Just a tip on the lighter heads, make sure you run the hook thru the upper part of the bait. Doing that will put more weight of the bait below the horizontal hook line and give the bait more wobble.
  11. What size bill? I usually use the long bill, I think that imparts the most action. Depending on the forage, I have had the most success with a full size fluke, the new disco colors with a dipped chartreuse tail. Count it down to the fish with the rod at about 10o'clock position every once in a while imparting a twitch, slowly reeling line. Good luck, let us know how you do!
  12. What size did you get?? I might be able to give you some hints and tricks to try.
  13. Congrats, another fishing buddy in the making!!
  14. Hotrod, I've only tried a couple different brands, strike king and J&S by Koblinsky , man I've giving up a lot here, lol! 1/2 oz. long bill. Me no likey the strike king! I'm also looking for an alternative to the Koblinksy cause they are tough to get in a hurry. I do have a nice supply tho! Nitro, thanks, 5 fish caught yesterday. 2 on the jb, 2 on the droppy, and the best fish on the scrounger. Might have done a lot better if I wasn't so dead set on finding them with the jb! Brick, thanks as well and im glad I was able to help you make the RIGHT decision and save a couple bucks on your BPS order!!
  15. Those scrounges dont catch fish, you shouldn't use them ever.
  16. 45 +/- a couple degrees
  17. My best from today at the occoquan res
  18. Those sure are nice!
  19. Occoquan of course!
  20. The launch down near the dam
  21. Are the plastics and crankbaits not available to purchase once you reach your destination?
  22. I agree with about 80% of that article. 2 things that I think really help in cold water jerkbait fishing is: 1- realizing baitfish are usually at their largest this time of year where I fish so I generally start with a larger bait. Most of the mature shad I see in the reservoir I fish are 5-7 inches. That's not to say smaller shad are not present but the ones I see struggling to make it thru tha winter flopping on the surface are that big so why not match it! #2- mono, I want my bait as neutrally buoyant as possible and in my opinion with a good neutral bait, flouro will make it sink more than I want, especially on a long pause over some sticky water. That results in lost baits from time to time. I've spent about 10yrs trying to find the right recipe for jerk baits and these this work well for me. Not to say other ways are incorrect or non productive, just saying this is how it works for me!
  23. Try a pointer 78XD in a shad pattern. At least that's what I hear works well early march. Should be great on spinny setup
  24. Brick, I have access to hooes run so I usually launch from there untill FH opens back up.
