California Lakes, Anyone Help Me?
thank you for breaking down my lure options that would be best right now. I have never heard of this: "Robo colors; MMII, red crawler, oxblood red flake and bait ball". what is this exactly Since I am not exactly fishing in the spring, but rather winter.........what would the TOP 3 lures/baits be that I should take with me. Obviously, space and this thing called "work" is getting int he way. SO i need to take a limited number of lures.

Lake Cachuma, California
so lets break this down...... Obviously space is an issue since this thing called "work" gets in the way , if i were to bring three lures/baits with me.......what would you recommend for the waters and time of year im fishing at this lake? Would they be: jerkbaits, jigs, and dropshot rigs (colors?)

Lake Cachuma, California
heyyyy, there it is....... after looking at it on google, seems there are a number of roads back in there. Is there anywhere to park for free or do i have to pay a fee? Is it pretty easy to access the water at that point? Here is what I see:

California Lakes, Anyone Help Me?
As I stated in another thread, I am going to be doing some travelling for work. In a couple areas that I will pass, there will be some freshwater that I'll be able to fish in (if time allows). A couple of lakes that I found in the area are The San Diego River, Lake Murray, Lake Jennings, and El Capitan Reservoir. Obviously, I will be travelling along Route 8. Is there any locations at these lakes that are good bank fishing spots? I can't stray too far off the beaten path so id like a spot where i can get in for about an hour or so, then get out, not spending a lot of time getting back to the highway. I noticed that the Salton Sea is just North of El Centro, anyone know anything about this lake/sea? Is there one lake that is better than another for shore fishing this time of year? I will be out there around March 3 Any help would be appreciated.

Lake Cachuma, California
from what I can tell, according to my route, I should be passing this lake on February 23rd. Estimating my actual time arriving at the lake should be around noon or so. I know that's another whammy against me, but it is what it is. Even if I dont have any luck at all, its all good, i just need an entrance to the lake off of that San Marcos Pass Road, entrance not to far off the beaten path. get in, fish, get out, move on when fishing from shore, is it muddy bottoms or boulder type rock?

Lake Cachuma, California
Looks like I'm going to be doing some travelling for work, and it just so happens I will be passing Lake Cachuma. Figured id stop in for an hour or so and wet a line. Can anyone give me some tips on this lake? Are there places to fish from shore off of Route 154/San Marcos Pass Road Can anyone give me any info?

Travel Rod/reel Combo (Telescopic Or 3 Piece)
I was even thinking of one of those travel combos that BPS selld. the shakespear combos or a daiwa combo in the $30-$50 range. I guess that would be perfect, i wouldnt use it often and i certainly dont need a $100 combo.

Travel Rod/reel Combo (Telescopic Or 3 Piece)
im not sure what id like to spend at the moment. i do know it wont get used often at all. so the quality doesnt really need to be there. i thought about an ultralight combo. kinda open at this point

Travel Rod/reel Combo (Telescopic Or 3 Piece)
I am doing some travelling for work, and the places I am going to have a lake or at least some body of fresh water around it. I was thinking of buying a telescopic combo rod and reel or a cheap one that I could break down to fit in my suitcase that would allow me to do a little fishing here and there. It wont get used a lot so a real expensive outfit is not required. I saw some of the ones at BPS but not sure if the quality is there since it is a very basic combo. Has anyone ever bought a cheap travel combo for this purpose? If so, what did you buy and howd it work out I am leaving on the 22nd, so would like to have something in my hand upon departure

I asked about the Cincinnati one, and same thing. dates moved up to the 6th of february (next week). so wasnt ready for that. Trolling Motor Accessories
which im not, id say its no more than 14ft in length but where are the specs on what size breaker is needed? wait, the breaker is based off the wire size in this case........ normally you size the wire per the breaker, but im working backwards in this situation. so i would need a breaker good for 65 amps, right?
-
Trolling Motor Accessories
I know this is not really electronics, but I'm not sure if Trolling Motors even have a category. So I will ask my Q's and see what happens I currently have a #6 awg wire ran for my existing Minn Kota 30 pound thrust trolling motor. This TM is very old and needs to be replaced. So I am searching for one online, kinda window shopping at the moment. Evry TM that I see online does not talk about the amperage draw, nor does it mention wire size required, nor does it mention anything about a required circuit breaker size that is required. Not sure if those are even technical specifications that they offer. So, I would like to purchase a 40-50 poound thrust TM but have no clue if my #6 wire is big enough. Is there any rule of thumb or technical specs I can refer to for this type of information?

Recent Cabelas Trip
While traveling for work last week, we took a slight detour to the Cabelas in Dundee, Michigan. (my second time at a Cabelas, first time there) While I walked the aisles in the fishing department, I saw items that I can't get at my local BPS, but the majority of items were the same, including prices. Anyways, I digress............. I picked up a couple bags of soft creature baits. I have NEVER had any luck with soft plastics of any type, but decided to pick these up regardless. (I will be turning over a new leaf this year and actually attempt to try the plastics everyone raves about)........... anyways, I bought a pack of the 4" vibraGRUB in the Leechblood color. These look rather nifty. They have the wavy things on its side. To me, that makes me think its a swimming lure. Although it doesnt say what size or what method of rigging it works best on......can anyone offer any advice on this? anyone ever use this plastic??? It looks really neat http://www.cabelas.com/product/Evolve-Micro-VibraGrub/1702720.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dvibragrub%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=vibragrub&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products second bag o plastics i bought was the Big Bite Baits 4" Real Deal Craw, green pumpkin color. I don't own very many creature baits but thought this looked promising. I hear a lot of people using Big Bite baits, but again, myself, never have. This looks like another plastic that can be rigged every which way under the sun. any advice on this rigging method? http://www.cabelas.com/product/Big-Bite-Baits-Real-Deal-Craw/1700492.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dreal%2Bdeal%2Bcraw%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=real+deal+craw&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products

Extending Trailer Tongue
i am NOT doing the welding. I don't know a thing about it. I was going to have a friend do it............I will be calling around to get a "pro" to do it, hopefully its not super expensive. when you mention u-channel or angle iron.....i have access to that. is that to act as a splint inside the pipes? how would that be attached?
-
Extending Trailer Tongue
that's what i was thinking!!!! It's a jon boat, I can't imagine the trailer would ahve that much added stress on it, just because I extended the tongue......I wouldn't think. I know there is a lot more that I don't know that causes a weld to go bad, but i was thinking this would be an easy task at first.......... now im second guessing myself
-
Extending Trailer Tongue
my only problem is finding one that fits snug. let's say i find one bigger than the pipe. how much bigger than the existing pipe should it be? I don't want to have a lot of gap, right? how much should the sleeve extend into each pipe?
-
Extending Trailer Tongue
I have a jon boat/trailer and would like to extend the tongue of it. I have purchased a 2.75" pipe that butts up to the end of the existing pipe. I do not have any smaller diameter pipe that I can use as a sleeve to weld to, to make a stronger weld. Is there anything wrong with welding two pipes end to end? If so, what options do I have? I could spend a long time looking for a "sleeve" to fit perfectly but, uh, its spring. The fish are calling my name!!!! BUT, at the moment, the existing trailer is toooo short, it needs extended advice?

Do You Catch A Lot Or 1-2
i'd love to catch more then 0-2 every time out............sometimes wonder if my lake sucks but me being limited to certain lures is most likely the issue
-
Do You Catch A Lot Or 1-2
When it comes to a day of fishing at your normal lake...... do you consider it a good day if you catch 1-3 bass? or is a good day catching 4 or more? as for me, i have never gone out and caught more than 2 in one outing. ever. for me, a f\good day is at least getting one and being tickled pink if i happen to catch more than that. im starting to think that maybe, just maybe, its because i always use cranks/lipless cranks. if i were to use plastics along with all the other lures, if that would change....................hmmmmmmm first on my list this year.....PLASTICS!!! hopefully i catch more than th1 or 2 each time out

Trying A New Soft Plastic, Not That Any Of Them Work In The First Place
no, not dissatisfied at all, just would like to broaden my fishing techniques library. would like to try an assortment of things.
