Best lures for the price!
X raps have been a top performer for me. Especially early spring and late fall. I will have to try a pointer. At this point I can not imagine it being any better, after all I am working the bait. :-?

Something to back up a buzzbait?
If my perception of this lake is correct. I would through a zoom fluke (baby bass or pearl white) right next to the weed line or just in the edge. Rigged weedless of course. Twitch the rod a couple times and BAM you got him. 8-)

First
I think it was a pearl sassy shad on a jig head I found tangled in a half submerged tree on Lake Hartwell.

Another Baitcasting Thread (Mag Brakes)
I don't know if this is correct but it works for me. First I set the mag break on all the way. Then I set the spool tension knob to where you can shake the rod tip and the lure you are using will fall to the ground. Then depending on wind direction, lure size or different rod flex. I can reduce the mag break for optimum distance. Sometimes I never take it off of the full break position.

What type of line should I be using?
Snook I guess your right. I used 30lb braid on my snook fishing trip this spring. And I only said 50lb because I lost a few nice ones that got the line wrapped around pier posts and the line just cut like butter. All in all 50lb would have probably done the same thing.

What type of line should I be using?
50lb braid for snook. 12lb flourocarbon for bass. On your other spool of course.

Shakey Head Rod?
For a 12 yr old I would lean toward a berkley shock or something you wouldnt be upset if it was destroyed rather quickly. I only say this knowing myself when I was 12.

centrifugal or magnetic, which do you prefer and why
I am with ranger and frank. I fish with the STX and if you dont stay focused on every cast and situation you encounter while fishing the STX you will be pulling a little line off once in a while. Nothing big or one of those overruns you cant undo. While using the six pins you dont need near the adjustments however I wouldnt exactly compare it to a spincast.

Copolymer brands
I used to fish silver thread copoly all the time. I thought it was great line. I just dont know what happend to it you cant even find it anymore.

carbon fiber...
Now if we could just get Fishin Rihno to make us all some of those red number 88 handles........ quantum ;hasnt even pulled that off YET. ;D
-
carbon fiber...
I bet it wil turn out great and your fishin buds will want you to make them a couple too. For the right price of course. ;D
-
carbon fiber...
I don't think these people understand that your carbon fiber is already hardened and set in resin. If your product is the right thickness (witch auto spoiler sounds about right). You could make some nice carbon fiber handles. you might have to swap out the actual finger and thumb pad for the kind you screw on if you have the cheaper variety with no bearings and just riveted on. I say go for it. let us know how it turns out. In my mind thickness would be the key ie: too thick = no weight savings but coolness factor could be your thing. skno
