  1. my thoughts exactly! haha
  2. I'm sure you've all see the pros when they fish. they waste no time landing a fish because it will either come off from it being able to thrash around and throw the hook or they want to just preserve time if they're on a good bite. I hardly ever use a net. This is just a personal opinion, but I think learning to lip a fish quickly is a much needed skill and a net takes away from that. Thank you all of you for your feeback
  3. no haha those are just my initials.
  4. When landing fish I try to do it as quickly and efficiently as possible. Depending on the size and the strength of my line I will either opt to lip the fish myself or do a "pro flip" (using only the rod and line to hoist the fish onto the boat or dock). My general rule is that if I have a fish 3 pounds or under on 12 pound test mono or higher, I'll pro flip it.(braids are a completely different story) If any of the requirements are not met or I just feel more comfortable, I'll lip the fish. What are you takes on landing fish? I'm hoping to get into competitive fishing one day and would like to know the least time consuming manner while still keeping the fish's health in mind.
  5. Hey guys I was wondering if there was a youth bass fishing club within the tricities area. The only ones that I've seen or heard of are too far for me to travel. much appreciated AZ
  6. Sam, Yeah man VA is a great place to fish. Idk about getting you onto private docks though. I dont have to many connections. I'm working on it though. I usually fishing w/ a few of my buddies on their boat or canoe. I will let others in on a little secret. The Lost Ponds is a KILLER place to fish. You just gotta find it.
  7. Hey everyone! I'm Alan. I'm a younger angler still in high shcool, and hoping of becoming a competitive fisherman one day. I have been fishing for around 6yrs now, and know the ins and outs of fishing pretty well. (not your average garden noob) ;D haha I fish mostly the James, Swift Creek, and the Appomattox.
  8. First off, sorry for posting this in the wrong place. I completely missed this forum topic. haha Thank you everyone for the great suggestions. I'll definitely look into all of the suggested reels. Tight Lines everybody ;D
  9. The 7" Berkely Shakey Worm, Roboworm, Zoom Trick Worm, and the Chompers Shakey Worm are all good choices.
  10. I bought a brand new Compre to pair w/ an older model of a Daiwa i had. After buying the Compre, the reel broke about 2 weeks later during a hook set. lol But I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a quality reel for under $100. I'm still in highschool and don't have too much money to spend. haha I like the new Shimano Sedona and the Pflueger President, but not too sure of their quality.
  11. Hey fellow anglers this is my first forum, so don't laugh too hard if i seem like a noob. haha The original Rebel floater is a great, inexpensive lure. Like the others have said, it is like the Rapala floating minnows. I personally like to use the traditional black back w/ a chrome(silver) bottom. On average w/ 8 lb test it dives no deeper than around 2-3 ft. Just fish it like you would any other floating minnow. It works great in and around the tips of fallen tree branches. The hooks on the Rebel lures are fairly dull, so just switch them out w/ your favorite brand of hooks and youre set. Hope this helps.
