  1. yes, big fish is normally wieghed with out penalty and I about 99% sure the big fish at the okeechobee tournament this year was weighed in dead.
  2. there are not bank tournaments in the jax area the best advice would be to find one of several clubs in the area and fish as a co angler. If you are interested in a club let me know an I can get you in contact with a couple.
  3. If you end up in ft myers give me a shout, there are fish every where here, lots of little ones but plenty of quality also. plus saltwater fishing can be fun too.
  4. I fished out of a pontoon boat there when I was younger and if membry serves we caught a good few fish.
  5. Sir snook, i dont know how it is over there, but we catch snook in about 6 inches of water with there noses litterally out of the water first thing in the morning when its calm waiting on green backs..... away from the dolphin and sharks
  6. I live in ft myers, yes bring tackle. there are bass in literally every pond and you can cast flukes, buck tails and top water on the beaches and in the bays for reds, trout snook, ect. as far as food and drink it depends if you are more towards sanibel there is totally different stuff then if you are in the Estero/FGCU area. If you provide more info I can give you some places.
  7. my buddy from VT was catching them bedding this past week, and some nice fish for up there. around docks.
  8. you are 98% right, the one place that you made a mistake is with the Eagle Scout. I have had companies who targeted that to a reason to work with me, it shows work ethic, honesty and other traits that companies are looking for, but overall i think you are very much on point. I think you could have summed it all up by saying win, represent your self as a sportsman, an adult and professionally at all times and dont go begging people for anything.
  9. Hi My Names Tommy, I go to FGCU, I have a problem, its called lake Okeechobee, its less than an hour from my door and has the best fishing in the county right now.... oh and did i mention we have a fantastic marketing program? i mean how many lakes its a 38 pound limit a real possiblity?
  10. I have to give them and all the teams huge props i was up there with my schools two teams and the weights blew away what we thought it would take. one of those ten teams will win the national championship this coming year. I believe that the Southeastern Division is far better as a whole than any other division in college fishing.
  11. we were there today, it was slow for bass but we caught a bunch of shad at the dam, a couple sun fish, a 2 pound smally and some little LMB. we will be on Wheeler the rest of the week. we did catch about a 5# LMB and 2# smally from shore this afternoon in wheeler.

  13. no one knows anything about lake wheeler?
  14. Actually in some parts of Florida more fish need to be kept, in many of the private lakes there are too many fish between 10 and 16 inches that it keeps them from getting big. There is also a theory i have heard about okeechobee that the reason you see so many 5-7 pound fish but few over 9 is because there are too many small fish because you cant keep them and they are out eating some of the prey for the big fish. esp. when the water drops and they are pushed off shore to feed on shad.
  15. a different prop and a hydrolic jack plate. plus leveling out the weight in your boat.
  16. FGCU makes another top 15! and qualifies a 2nd team for regionals!
  17. I have never been on lake wheeler before and ill be up there in a few weeks, does any one have any advise or any info that might help me find some fish?
  18. Brandon Card did go through a culvert pipe on the sabine river......
  19. Go read some of the other post below yours.
  20. throw a gold gold trap in the eel grass off the edge of the kissimmee grass, reel it as soon as it hits the water, if it hangs in the grass rip it loose.
  21. there are plenty just keep looking around.
