I like using a 3/0 Gamakatsu Superline E.W.G. It is essential to use a wide gap hook with flukes. Your gonna have alot of trouble hooking fish using a offset shank hook. I use the superline because it adds a little extra weight to help it sink a bit quicker. I have my best results fishing them on steep banks during prespawn, then on grass flats during post spawn. They work well year round, but pre and post spawn is when I really rely on them. Good luck dude!
  2. How High All of the American Pies, especially Beta House Scary Movie 2 Superbad Pineapple Express Anchorman Grandma's Boy Big Fat Liar
  3. 1. They run about 3-5ft on a steady retrieve, but this can be altered by varying your retrieve. 2. HECK YES they work in fall. It's my favorite time to through them, and I continue to have awesome success with them through early to mid winter. Then it picks back up in early spring.
  4. ROFLMAO! Nice spot Jay. Them spots wax those topwaters, don't they!
  5. My GF's dad now considers me a man and trusts me with his "little princess", because the first time I ate dinner at her house, he served me 7 sprouts. I downed them so fast. There delicious. I later found out that every time Catie has a guy over for the first time, he serves them brussels sprouts. He said I was the only one who ate all of them and that I could date his daughter because I was a "man" LOL. I never knew people hated them so much, but according to her dad, they, "can bring a grown man to there knees"
  6. x2 I was going to say the same thing.
  7. We're here for you Russ. Wish you the best of luck and you know the digits if you need to talk to get your mind of it.
  8. DUDE!!!! Go get em! We all know you will do good bro.
  9. Dont sweat it Dave. The 6-12 I caught last night would have set me up good! Nice fish though. Congrats
  10. Go get em Mike! Fish your strengths and keep your mind clear. Do what you do and you will wax them.
  11. x2 In my opinion, Gman is pouring jigs that could compete with any jig on the market. His work is flawless and he knows his stuff.
  12. I think it should slay the fish on most lakes. I think this bait is gonna be a big producer for people who are a little reluctant to throw the big swimbaits. My opinion is based up entirely on what I've heard and the few times that I have gotten to see the bait in person. I don't own one, and won't for a little bit, so like I said, my opinion isn't really good.
  13. He may know about it now, but I would guess that you'll spank his behind with it 9 times out of 10

    Chunk. Nice fish VT!
  15. That's just sad... HAHA! I kinda figured I would catch some crap from you on this one
  16. A handmade jig called the Senko77 Special that Gman makes. Shoot Gman a pm. He makes top notch jigs for dirt cheap.....and they freaking wax the fish.
  17. Oh an to answer your original question, I think that joining D.E.C.A. would be a fantastic decision. Not only will it give you a head start in managing your career, but any classes taken outside of school look great on your fishing resume, and college applications
  18. Hey bud, The first thing I got to stress to you is maintaining excellence at school. I know your hear it from your parents and every other adult around you, but seriously, think about it. Let's say Strike King has 2 resumes from 2 young anglers looking for a partnership with them. 1 of the angler has a mediocre school record, but the other has stellar grades. Which one looks better? Second is to make a name for yourself. And to do that you have to enter tournaments, win or place high in tournaments, and get involved with as many outdoor related events in your community. I'm assuming you fish in a Jr. tournament trail, but consider fishing tournaments against the adults. This is what made me improve most. When I started, I got whipped, now, there are times when I'm doing the whippin on the old guys. Third is never stop having fun. If you love this sport, and are determined to make a living out of it...not a job, a living, then never lose sight of the things you love about it. In the past 2 years, there have been points where I got so wrapped up in winning money that I ended up sucking. Do it because it's what you do, not for the money. Good luck dude, and don't be shy, PM me with any questions you have.
  19. I think it's Bass Anglers Sportsman Society....
  20. I just drove a stick for the first time a few weeks ago. My g/f drives one like a champ, so she was teaching me in her jeep. It was so dam frustrating at first, but I got the hang of it. I think I put like 40k on that transmission in the 1st hour of driving it ;D
  21. So glad to hear the good news Robert. Sorry for missing this thread but I will definetly keep ya'll in my prayers
