  1. I agree, but here in Missouri, we rarely take a rabbit in temperatures over 80 degrees. Our season runs from October 1st to around February 15th.
  2. My thoughts exactly. And fishing from banks with low overhanging trees.
  3. Yeah, that really shocked me. On that link I posted, in the monofilament/fluoro tests, the palomar went from 108% all the way down to 43% for Vanish Transition. These are some pretty wide variations. Also, at least from this test, the palomar doesn't look like a good knot for braids with the range running from 44% to 72% of breaking strength.
  4. I'm still looking for something better than this, but these guys tested the bimini, the bristol, and the palomar knots for breaking strength. The tests are performed on about every brand you can think of. I only use the palomar of these three. Click on the links down in the page for the individual knot tests. http://www.sportfishingmag.com/techniques/tips/staying-power-53427.html
  5. I looked for them on the Gene Larew site too. Catt, are these some old stock that are out of production now?
  6. I'm with ya', Alpster except my colors would be Black Shad, Black, and Watermelon green gold. I had to edit this. I crossed up the answer to this thread with another one.
  7. Would or have done? Have done. Where do you think this story originated from?

Yeah,,,,,,that' what the guys in the black helicopter said. Indeed! I met a guy who flew a black helicopter. He said he was a moderator for BassResource.com.
  9. Thank you, frogtog. I've been reading some comments about this individual and so far, none of them are good.
  10. lPAINl, I added a little to my previous post. I agree with you on the FG rule as well. Darn. I keep spelling your screen name wrong.
  11. You are absolutely correct, lPainl, as stated in Rule 3, section 21, Article 3 of the Official NFL Rulebook. I apologize for calling it a blown call because I know how you love your Boston teams. This rule wasn't implemented in the rule book until 1999 which is why there was so much controversy over the call because most of us weren't aware the rule had changed. I still think it is one of the most asinine rules they ever came up with. BTW, as a Chiefs fan, I was rooting for New England to win that game so this isn't a case of sour grapes. I just hate the rule. I also was rooting for the Steelers in the 2006 Super Bowl because I wanted the Bus to get his big win, but I hated some of the calls in that game that led to Seattle's demise. I like for my team to win, but not because of questionable officiating or rules. Oh well, you can't change history.
  12. That was the year that the Patriots played Oakland in an AFC divisional playoff game with lots of snow. Brady went to tuck the ball and the ball was knocked loose resulting in a fumble which Oakland recovered with under two minutes left to play. The officials ruled that he was attempting a forward pass and it was incomplete, even though the replays showed it was obvious he was tucking the ball. The Pats score on that drive tied the game and sent it into overtime. Without the blown call they wouldn't have been in that Super Bowl.
  13. The Rams vs Titans was fantastic, but the 1991 match up between the Giants and the Bills was great too. New York won 20 - 19 when Norwood's 47 yard field goal for the win, sailed wide with only a few seconds left. This was the beginning of the string of 4 lost Super Bowls by the Bills in the 90s.
  14. X2 on Redline's statement. Sufix is the braid for me. On a side note, has anyone tried the Stren Sinking braid?
  15. Powell Max 683C Length: 6' 8" Line: 10 - 17 lb Lure Size: 3/8 - 3/4 Power: Medium-heavy Action: Extra-fast
  16. They don't update the FHS map very often, if at all. The map I use for Smithville Lake doesn't account for siltation on the upper end of the lake. The map still shows 25 foot contours where my depth finder shows it is 15 or so at normal pool. I find that on average the lake is about 5 - 10 feet shallower than the map shows. Long Mike, They are good for a starting point but I'm looking at getting a gps with a map card as well. I'll be curious to see the results of your comparison or if anyone else has made this comparison, please chime in.
  17. Brokejew, this looks like a good summary to me. I like Powells but the few people on these forums who have tried the Dobyns rods say they are a step up from the Powell. As you can see from all the posts, there are a lot of good rods in this price range.
  18. I really think this has a lot to do with it. I have had much success with spinnerbaits, but there is one lake I fish on a regular basis that I have never caught a fish on a spinnerbait.
  19. My last bass was the Saturday after Thanksgiving which I believe was November 24th. I keep my boat in outdoor storage so I won't take it out in the colder months because I don't want to winterize it after every trip. However, I usually do find a way to take 3 or 4 trips in the Winter but those involve fishing from the bank.
  20. Amen to that, Muddy. Dave's method is the way I was taught, and his explanation of it makes perfect sense.
  21. I agree with Surfer. This is a good thread. My main lake has tremendous pressure and I was looking for opportunities to use baits without rattles and other more subtle, realistic presentations.
  22. Daniel is in fine form today.
  23. In the "Important Topics" section at the top of this forum you will see a thread for FAQs and guidelines. Go to this thread and click on the link "How to post a pic." I've also pasted the link below. http://www.bassresource.com/fish/picture_tutorial.html
  24. x2 . . . or even a shorter trip for that matter.
  25. Darn, I've been away awhile and I don't want to step on anyone's toes this quickly but I would agree with Jasone that there is a clique, not that this is such a bad thing. Anytime you have a group of people this large you will have subsets of people who hit it off and become a sub-group within the larger group. I didn't see Jasone's post but is it possible that he received an "undue insult" to one of his posts either by a number of people making jokes in answer to his question or by hijacking the thread? Warm Regards, The Devil's Advocate
