  1. Welcome to the forum, Glenn2.
  2. My favorite thing would be Catt's post on fishing milfoil, and how Tommy Martin fished his jigs in this stuff.
  3. RIP, 2007 Mets. So who is everyone rooting for in the playoffs? How about the Rockies?? Are they for real or what? I hope they beat the Padres. It would be nice to have a different team moving through the playoffs for a change? I'm rooting for a Rockies - Indians World Series.
  4. Same here, lPa1nl. We all love baseball.
  5. Each to his own. I'm in the camp that prefers to have pitchers who hit.
  6. Muddy, hang on to your hat. Three games to go and the Phillies are tied with the Mets. Pineiro pitched a hell of a game against the Mets last night. I almost hated to see the Cards win because I want the Mets to take Philly. As I said, "Almost . . ."
  7. Agreed. Suspended fish are the toughest.
  8. Still, Catt, your catches are nothing to be ashamed of, even if FishChris does catch larger fish. For a combination of numbers and size, your stats are very impressive.
  9. Pretty much but not quite. I think this is what WRB meant. Seventy percent humidity isn't 70% water vapor in the atmosphere. It is 70 percent of the amount of vapor that the atmosphere can hold. If the air were 70% water, we'd all drown. The higher the temperature of the atmosphere becomes, the more water vapor it can hold. To stay on point for this thread, my largest bass have been caught in hot, humid weather. My personal best was caught on a day when the temperature hit 103 degrees on a humid, Missouri day. Fortunately, I caught her in the first hour of fishing. Otherwise, I wouldn't have lasted long enough to hook her.
  10. And another one. Spend more on the rod. Brokejew stated: The Citicas come in a 100 series also. Have you checked them out?
  11. I've always purchased cheaper sunglasses until a couple of weeks ago. Since I've grown a little older and my eyesight has deteriorated a bit I recently decided to purchase some prescription sunglasses. I bought some Maui Jim frames with polarized, progressive bifocal lenses (no lines like normal bifocals). I am able to see much better into the water and I can use the reading portion at the bottom to tie knots. With inexpensive sunglasses I had trouble seeing the knot and I would have to take them off, and then hold my line far away so I could see what I was tying. While I feel these are fantastic sunglasses, I think each individual has to decide if the cost is worth it to them. I haven't tried many different brands but I often wonder if sunglasses are similar to fishing rods - the higher the price, the less the accrued benefit. Maybe the difference between a 100 dollar pair of glasses and a 300 dollar pair is so small that it wouldn't be worth it to some people. Fortunately for me, I was able to use my vision insurance to purchase mine.
  12. WRB, good post but I have to ask where you got your winter water temperatures. From Southern Missouri all the way to the northern border water temps in the mid-30s in winter are common. I would love to be able to fish where the water never dropped below 40 in the winter.
  13. I watched the game on TV. I didn't expect USC to dominate to the extent that they did, especially in the running game.
  14. The Cardinals finally win one after nine losses in a row. More injuries haven't helped. I'd say we're about done, but I still hope for a miracle.
  15. I have the following: 703 MEF Spinning Bought from The Tackle Depot, Wichita, KS 684 CEF Baitcasting Bought from Triton_Mike on the forum. 683 CEF Baitcasting Bought from The Tackle Depot, Wichita, KS 683 CB Baitcasting Bought from Triton_Mike I second fourbizzle's statements. These are good rods, and I think their quality belies the price. If a person is tight on money, I'd buy the 683 CEF (medium-heavy with extra fast tip) and/or the 703 MEF (medium with extra fast tip). These two rods can cover just about every situation, if needed. I've used the heavy power 684 for jigs and texas rigs. It is a very sensitive rod and is perfect for flipping and pitching. If you're going to be making long casts I'd use the 683c rather than the 684. The 684 doesn't cast as far due to the lack of bend in the rod, which is typical for a heavy jig rod. I haven't had the chance to use the 683 CB yet, but that should change in the next week. I'll let you know how I like it.
  16. Janis overshadowed them all. The later bands kept the beat and played what they were supposed to, but they didn't play anything that I would consider brilliant. Big Brother did play some ugly stuff. From sloppy guitar work to crappy drums, they had it all. I still like listening to Janis though, including the earliest stuff.
  17. I'm happy the Cubs and Brewers are allowing the Cardinals to stay close. If they were playing some good baseball we'd be in trouble. Mulder didn't perform too well on his return last night. We've lost 2 of 3 to the Pirates. I hope we can even the series tonight.
  18. The Chargers will win if they control their turnovers. If they don't, Chicago's wicked defense will capitalize on their mistakes and it will be Chicago's game. I believe the Chargers will win simply because they are an excellent team on both sides of the ball.
  19. I second that. Some of you continue to mention which arm is stronger in both of these threads. Are you guys setting the hook in one hundred pound fish all day long? Strength has nothing to do with it. Either of my arms are strong enough for bass fishing all day long, and I would bet, most of you are the same. The lack of logic in the process is the use of the right arm to cast, and then switching the rod to the left hand so you can reel with the right. During this process a fish could strike and be lost. That is the conundrum. An easy solution is to cast with both hands which I do quite often. Either way, I can't say I've ever lost a fish switching hands. (At least that I know of.) Also, when casting buzzbaits, etc. I just switch hands and start reeling before the bait hits the water. Still, no problems. Is it the most logical way to do it? Absolutely not! But it's what I feel comfortable doing and I'm not buying left-handed equipment after all these years.
  20. I think the Bait Monkey is up to new tactics. He has an organization now . . . . . The Family, if you will. He has hired a number of thugs to do his bidding. They go out and steal fishing equipment from those of us who are vulnerable so that we will spend even more to replace our stuff. Bad news. Sorry to hear it. I can imagine you're pretty ticked off about it. I know I would be.
  21. I have to agree with basspro48. I'm one of those who thinks the newer Citicas come close to the old Curados. I have had no issues with both of mine. They are smooth, cast for a good distance, and I've never experienced any "backreeling" as described by bshaner. I have to believe there is a lemon now and then. I just hope I don't ever get one.
  22. This should be a great game if both teams play to their potential. Indy lost some defenders this year, so I'm going with the Saints, Gman.
  23. Congrats, Ghoti! Now go get those bad guys.
  24. Rod, your Huskers looked good this weekend as did KU. I know the first week doesn't necessarily indicate where a team is going, so we'll see. I'm looking forward to next weekend. Hopefully, MU will display a running game against Ole Miss.
  25. It will be interesting to see what happens in the saga of the Irish.
