  1. Indeed, Georgia Tech gave them a spanking. I wasn't surprised that they won . . . but I was surprised by how lopsided the game was.
  2. Even when Kansas has a bad team they always play decent defense. I think that is Mangino's style. And that style can beat even the best Pinkel-coached team on any given day as has been demonstrated. So far Pinkel's Missouri teams have shown some flash, but solid play in the trenches will beat flash. I hope I'm wrong but I didn't get a good feeling from Missouri's game on Saturday. Chase Daniel may be running for his life this season.
  3. Spinnerbait and crankbait . . . . and the third would be a tie: white jig, fluke, or jerkbait. There . . . . I cheated. There is a way to list five.
  4. I assume there is a lot of interest in college football on this forum from observing other threads. I thought I would start a thread where we could discuss the games from the past week. If I'm wrong, this thread will die like any other, but otherwise, have at it, guys and gals! My take on this past week (mainly the Big 12): I thought this might be the year for Missouri in the Big 12 North, but after watching them almost lose to a young, but talented, Illinois squad, this Missouri team looks the same as any other that has been hyped over the last 10 years. . . . . . no defense, questionable decisions by coach Pinkel, and a new liability - no running game. We can't play like this against Nebraska, etc. and hope to achieve anything. I have to give credit to Illinois redshirt freshman and backup quarterback, Eddie McGee. He gave a gutsy performance and almost pulled out the win. How about Appalachian State beating number 5 Michigan?!!! Texas struggled against Arkansas State. Who expected this?
  5. Muddy, you have to feel a little better. The Mets swept the Braves and the Phillies dropped a couple of games. Hang in there! CJ, I'm with you on Ankiel. He was the Cardinals savior this weekend. Without him we couldn't have swept the Reds. We're still two games out. Mulder is supposed to join the rotation any day now. Hope springs eternal.
  6. Muddy, I was just reading on cbssportline.com that Hudson, who is pitching for the Braves tonight, has a 1.93 ERA against the Mets this year in two winning starts. However, he struggled with the Cardinals a few games ago, after winning 9 straight. The Mets are due to win one. Let's hope it's tonight.
  7. Yes, we all have to eat the tasty crow now and then. I, myself . . . yes, me, Senile1, encountered a situation where I had to apologize to a respected member of our forum earlier this week, due to a private misunderstanding on my part. I know . . . . . it's difficult to believe that I could be wrong about anything. : It's good to see people resolve these issues in a mature manner. All you guys need to do now is get together and swap some spit.
  8. No problem, Jeff H. I, personally, wasn't offended by your post but I didn't know if you were having fun or serious, so I slipped in a little information on the use of these "buggy whips."
  9. ww2farmer seems to have it covered. I use the regular crawbugs. I would assume you would fish the pre-rigged bugs the same way.
  10. Wow. I didn't think the Phillies could sweep four games from the Mets. Now they're only two games behind them. The Mets need to wake up and do some damage in Atlanta.
  11. senile1 replied to Bassn Blvd's topic in Everything Else
    That's funny.
  12. I'm sure George has the best answer. It seems to me baitfish is the staple, crawfish are a treat and frogs an opportunity. I think that's a good way to put it. From what I've read, crawfish are the filet minon for bass, all things being equal. Of course, all things are never equal, so convenience would be the deciding factor.
  13. That is a sweet looking rod, fourbizzle. Nice work, Alpster! I like understated, functional rods as well.
  14. I haven't eaten out in a few days. Testing . . . testing . . . 1, 2, 3, testing . . . . .
  15. Good to see you on the forum, Chris. It's been awhile.
  16. That would definitely put you in the doghouse.
  17. Hey K mac What kind of fans do the Cards have :GEEZ ;D A lot of you were jumpin ship in July, I even posted then Don't count them out. I have learned from sitting in shea Mets Behind by a few runs ,two out , bottomof the ninth and they come back to tie the game, while all those mooks are already on the #7 train home. NEVER GIVE UP til strike three / out three!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way it really is useless for you guys It's our turn this year Muddy, we're just humble . . . . and sneaky. We may have stated that the Cardinals chances were slim, but deep down inside the redbird hope is always there. Go Redbirds, Baby!
  18. My oldest is 22 this November. My youngest turned 18 in March. They are still the little girl in the picture to me. I suppose that never changes. When they're little you think, "I won't have to worry about them so much when they grow up." Then they grow up, and you find you worry more than you ever did because, to you, they will always be that little girl (or boy) in the picture.
  19. Yeah, they need to win these next two in Philadelphia with the Braves coming up next. Those are away games too. The Mets have been good on the road this year, though. I still think they'll pull it together and win the division.
  20. lpainl, I'm not a Red Sox hater by any means. I was rooting for them to win the American League Championship in 2004. I still don't mind if they take the Yankees. Sorry, Riskkid. But justice is due. : The Cardinals made it back to .500 last night and second place behind the Cubs. They haven't broken even since very early in the season. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this isn't just an aberration. They are 31 - 22 against their Central division opponents which is the best intra-division record among the teams in that division. If they can keep that up they might have a chance. Their record against the NL East sucks . . . . 12 - 19.
  21. That is awesome! I've been watching some of the elimination games but I missed this one. The Little League games are great to watch. It's amazing the talent that some of these kids have at such an early age. You have every right to be proud of your hometown boys, Lightninrod!
  22. . . . And usually between 300,000 and 400,000 people attend the lighting ceremony. Welcome, Spini Boys from a KC North native.
  23. It's on Versus, which used to be the Outdoor channel. I think Versus used to be the Outdoor Life Network (OLN). The Outdoor Channel is still called The Outdoor Channel (it's the home of Monday Night Fishing). We're lucky enough to get both on basic cable. my mistake. OLN is correct. I get the Outdoor channel as well.
  24. It's on Versus, which used to be the Outdoor channel.
  25. I hope the Bosox get knocked out in the playoffs. I've still got a bad taste in my mouth from the way they swept the Cardinals in the 2004 series. If the Cardinals can't make it this year, I'm rooting for the Mets. There are a lot of games still to play. Every team has their slumps and the Red Sox are due to hit a rough patch.
