  1. Excellent treatise Doctor That was a nice explanation, Raul. Thanks.
  2. Its been my experience that if your weight to slide around you should do so in open water or light cover. I have found that if you dont peg your weight in heavy cover you can simply kiss your T-rig goodbye. My experience anyway... In heavy cover you want to peg your weight so it doesn't slide up. If not pegged, both the worm and the weight will provide separate opportunities to hang up.

    Welcome.
  4. It sounds like you're all saying pretty much the same thing. In the Spring the water does mix until it is an equal temperature just as it does in the Fall, but it is usually not as extreme as the fall turnover. Most of the articles I've read about this call it turnover, but I guess it's a matter of semantics. Whatever you call it, it is what it is.
  5. Maybe the question should be what techniques/tackle should you not use in lilly pads?
  6. Most of the hooks I own are Gamakatsu, Mustad, and Daiichi. You get used to something that works and sometimes you just don't think to try something else. I know from everyone's reports that Owner hooks are great. I didn't know they were that much sharper that Gamakatsu. I guess I'll be trying some then.
  7. I bought some Lucky Craft DD and Live Pointers and Sammy's this winter on sale. Even on sale, their prices are the highest I've spent on single lures. I don't recall the exact prices but I think they were somewhere in the 8 or 9 dollar range.
  8. Think about it. Many shallow crankbaits and topwaters have white bellies and that is mainly what the bass is seeing from underneath. White is a great color. White would not be one of my top colors at night or in muddy water, but otherwise, it is good in most other situations.
  9. Glenn is aware and will be correcting this tonight. See the link below. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1175611359
  10. Muddy, I thought you liked "Little Johnny."
  11. That is a seriously, wickedly, large monster. Congrats!
  12. GMAN, you know it'll come around. Enjoy the time on the water while you're waiting for it to come around.
  13. Congratulations are in order. I wasn't familiar with this magazine so I googled it and I see it is a mag for those of you who fish out West. Is that correct, Redlinerobert? Fish Chris, you're the man!
  14. Mono can stretch up to 20 - 30 percent. Braid does not stretch. You will feel more. You will detect more bites, especially with a jig. And your hooksets will be more solid which is a good thing with a jig, but it can be a bad thing if you fish crankbaits or jerkbaits with braid because you can rip the lure out of their mouths. Braid is easier than mono for a fish to see, but where I fish a jig this really doesn't matter. Some people will add flluorocarbon leaders to their braid, since the fluoro is virtually invisible in water. If you do a search you will see a plethora of information on this subject covering every question you could ask. BTW, welcome to our forum, Buzzman.
  15. Hawgin, I've always been a Cardinals fan and I always will be no matter how bad or how good they do. I just can't forget my roots. Anyway, it hasn't been too bad - three series in the 60s with 2 wins, none in the 70s, three series in the 80s with 1 win, none in the 90s, and 2 series in the 2000s with 1 win. I can live with that. Now if the Chiefs could just grab a Superbowl in the next 5 years, I'd be a happy camper. When I'm not rooting for the Cardinals in baseball, I'm rooting for the Royals, so I'd like to see them emulate some of the success they enjoyed in the late 70s and into the 80s.
  16. I like BPS for selection and local baitshops for detailed fishing information.
  17. Yeah, Glavine has always had the number of my Cardinals. I thought Carpenter would pitch a better game. He has a 7.5 ERA after one game with 5 earned runs in 6 innings pitched. That's out of character. I'm sure he'll turn it around. (I hope.)
  18. RottManK9, at least you were out on the water. I'm sure you'll be catching 'em soon. My work since February has been ridiculous. We have too many voice over IP network projects to configure and install and not enough people. I've been fishing once. I'm dying to get down to Truman. I'm ready to go postal.
  19. What David said. What they said. Right on the money. Yes, allow me to pile on. The rod is the most important.
  20. When I t-rig senko type worms I believe I catch more on Tiki sticks. When wacky-rigged, it seems GYCB senkos get the nod. LBH, could you refresh my memory? What were the results of your challenge to RW last year regarding the use of worms other than Senkos?
  21. I use the Rattlin' Raps and Rat-L-Traps equally as far as I can tell. I've had success with both. It seems like I"ve been reading more on this forum in the last few months about people's success with the Yo-zuri Rattlin' Vibe. I'm thinking about trying these out this year.
  22. I would have to choose the Powell Max 683c which lists for $169, but then, I haven't tried every rod under $200 and I doubt if many of us have. See the link below for a test on this rod from last year. It received the editor's choice award from Tackletour.com. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpowell683cxfast.html
  23. I bought a Powell 683c last year and like fourbizzle, I love this rod. For the price, you can't beat its sensitivity.
  24. Good story, Ron. These tales are making us all hungry for next year.
  25. What a great laugh! I can't imagine what it was actually like to see this firsthand. Brent and LBH must have needed a respirator when all was said and done.
