  2. i am a duck hunter but turn to fish in the off season
  3. try some diachi cooper head hooks with the hitch hiker on there makes them last much longer
  4. thanks for the heads up got some on the way
  5. anybody know of a source with good prices on swimmers ive been using some lil 4 inch that work great in the right spots but 7 bucks for 4 is getting pricey especially since hey get tore up so quick and wont hold a hook after a couple fish anyone know if ya can repair them like the huddlestons
  6. well i just talked to pro mariner and since there extensions wouldn't work anyway because the way they hookup with a screw and nut i wouldn't be able to fit 4 in my wire channel they told me to cut at the connector and splice 10 gauge run to where i need and and a 40 amp blade fuse to each lead and i should be good
  7. i get into places all year most are only lucky enough to get a cuuple times a year if the waters up enough for a bass boat and outboard duck boats rock
  8. ive got a Bass pro brand 2 bank charger(made by promariner) i need to put my batteries up front for better performance but have nowhere for the charger up front so its in back the original cables aren't long enough i didn't wanna have to order 2 of there extension cables if i can just snipe em splice em with some marine wire ive read the book and the only thing it says is not to shorten them because of the in line fuses any insights it doest say anything about special wire besides the fuse and doesn't seem to be shielded or anything any thoughts
  9. well i finally had a day off yesterday and got a new maxxum 80 installed and wired up. i ran the whole thing with 4 gauge wire. i ran the wire above deck though the old plug hole its ran in blue carlon flexible pipe. stuff works good its solid but bends well. i then drilled and tapped some holes on the tm base to mount the plug with boot to keep it clean thanks to everyone that answered my questions now to chase some fish hands free
  10. they weigh less when there dead :
  11. it also depend on what type of cats your after small channels will sometimes go after bass baits on the bottom and they love anything putrid and nasty your are talking to totally different types of fishing for cat fishing here i chase BIG flatheads i use a good 8ft pole with a good bait caster and at least 80lb braid with custom steel leaders if around the rocks the flat heads here on the border love carp we use live carp from 3/4 to a pound sometimes if we cant catch any carp we use bluegill or sunfish a throw net is the fastest way to get bait but you gotta know your water or you'll tear up a net fast
  12. adding a bigger tm and now two tm batteries and an on board charger to go with em anyway i plan to have the batteries in this box on the right with the charger right next to em on the left do you think this is enough space for the charger its open and has vent holes also the flap will be open while charging what do ya think inside the box thanks
  13. cool thanks for the help i picked up some of the 120s at napa today and I'm gonna run some 4 gauge for the wire
  14. so how would i link 2 35 bussmans just like batteries positve to negative the one then the pos on one and neg on the other ?
  15. need a fuse for the maxxum 80 can someone tell me the difference between the bussman style 50 amp for about 10 buck verse the minnkota style bigger circuit breaker for about 40 bucks don't they both do the same thing or is the minnkota that much better
  16. do you happen to have any pics of your quick connect setup upfront ?
  17. i should be ok with 6 gauge my boat is a 1652 the wire is only running from where the batteries are to the plug about 10 feet im not sure how the quick connect would do since i would have it sticking out above deck i was looking hard at the ranger style because it looks easier to clean out if it gets sand etc in it what do ya think?
  18. i just got a new maxxum 80 to replace my edge 55 so im switching to a 24 v system and i need a new plug something that has a flip top or cover so its not crammed full of stuff when not in use and getting flooded from the dog etc during duck season i was thinking the marinco style or the ranger style what do you guys think ?
  19. sweet job man that's my kinda project
  20. OK here's my 2 questions in clear water i can see the fish through the water can they see you just as clear or are you a blurry figure can they see clearly past the water surface ? second i can see into the water clearly but if i stick my head underwater my vision blurs are fish the same way when taken out of the water ?does there vision blurr once out of water ?
  21. you can make them from 3 pallets like a triangle an if you wanna make em more hook proof you can rip down some pvc pipe and put it on the underside of the slates with some stainless screws or leave em off and every now an then dive down and collect lures
  22. lol no matter everybody's had a there goober moments all that matters is getten out on the water and haven fun and frustration
  23. man yesterday was trying. we had a pretty good wind storm 20-30 mph all day. but i went out anyway. man i swear i had a bunch of goobers. i was fishing a weightless fluke. fishing wasn't great but i had 5 fish that missed my bait one of them twice they either totally missed it or threw it out of the water into the bushes .never seen so many misses maybe they were hitten the sauce i ended with 2 fish oh well guess ill have to try again today
