  1. Wow! that's an awsome video dude. I love catching bass out of clear water they are so beautiful.
  2. I've fished tubes a little bit in Arkansas on the Buffalo river. The rocks definately make it feel like fish and the current in the water will play tricks on you if you are watching your line. Its definately not like fishing around here.
  3. That's truly amazing.... those are beautiful
  4. Wow man that is really interesting. How hard do they fight?
  5. Nice catches... Although I've seen alot, I've never caught a carp
  6. Welcome Aboard! you can learn alot here? Where in Arkansas are you from? I have a camp near Marshall

    WHO DAT?!?
  8. I believe I PMed you last year about this time for some information about the best places and techniques on Toledo Bend during the spawn. Although I didn't get to make it last year, there will be another National Highschool Tournament in March this year and I have already got arrangements set up to be there. I have read up on last years posts around the March season but was wondering if you could help me out when it gets closer to that time? I beleive the tournament will be on March 27th. Take off will be at Cypress Bend boat ramp. I wouldn't expect anyone to put me on the fish when I don't know them, lol, but if you couldn't just give me a few tips, it would be WAY more than appreciated. BTW did you get snowed on this weekend? We saw a small amount but wish it was more :'( lol
  9. I've got a 14'42" G3 with a 30 horse. Used 3/4" Ply wood and it weighs the boat down way tooo much the front deck we built is way too heavy after putting the trolling motor on and getting your tackle in. It takes forever for the boat to plain out but it makes an ideal boat for small ponds and lakes that would tear up a big boat.

    That's Insane!
  11. Well since the water was a little high I decided to throw a deep diving, suspending, white bomber with red eyes. Guess they wanted it! lol They came up schooling like they do in the middle of july and august.... I had always thought bass were very subtle in the winter but these bass were going crazy . Guess the current and fall of the water had em turned on. Just goes to show, you can never tell what they are going to do.....
  12. My highschool has a bass club here. Although its not a sport here, we do have some good competition from another local school. Idk how the team is going for you but I just wanted to let you know of a national Highschool tournament on Toledo Bend in march of 2010. Look on www.icarenation.org for more details. Hope to see some of them illinois boys there.
  13. I am a junior in highschool and also looking into collegiate level fishing. I have two good friends in the Texas regional division. Although one of them, Zach Gagnard, didn't place good enough to reach the championship this year, he placed third in the national championship last year from NSU in Louisiana. Just this past month my other friend, whom I find to be better than Zach, joined with NSU so I'm looking forward to seeing him at the top next year. I know I'm going to fish in college just not sure exactly where yet. I have better grades than they ever had so I guess that gives me more options. I know a little bit about collegiate fishing but still have alot to learn. If I know any answer of yours I'd be glad to help.
  14. Great Job! Just think... the next hot time is spring and yea... its gonna be crazy!
  15. So it is duck season here, which is like another religion to most locals. My dad is a very seasonal type person who likes to put the rods up in october when the first hint of hunting season appears. Well I love to fish and I have been nagging on my dad about going fishing and stop being so uptight. Well we have had plenty of rain lately and lots of back water off the red and ouchita rivers causing our local lakes and tributaries to be extremely high. The ducks have moved north and we haven't been killing any so for the first time ever, my dad surprised me and said let's go fishing. The water finally decided to start falling after almost 2 months and caused lots of good current around points on our local lake and it definately paid off... here are a few pics. little over 3lbs little over 4 lbs sam fish as above along with these, we caught a good bit of other chunk 2lb to 3lb fish
  16. I agree. You should definately drop back off of a point and fish deeper. Use something like a black and red jig but fish it slow. maybe try a culprit worm let it fall to the bottom and fish it slowly back to the top.
  17. If I were you I would invest in a berkley lightning SHOCK rod. As far as I'm concerned it ranks in my book with kistler and carrot sticks but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I posted a thread similar to this one and someone gave me the same advice that I'm giving you and I dont regret listening to them one bit. the rod runs about 40 something on average. I would then get me an Abu Garcia 5500 C reel from walmart or any other carrier. You should be able to find one of them for about 30 to 40 bucks. The combo should cost you around 80 bucks... which is about as cheap as you can go and get a really nice set up. Just keep this in mind but dont rule out anyone else's opinion either.
  18. Now that's something I've I always wanted to do... I hope I get the chance soon.
  19. Does Florida give you a bass boat to fish out of? also I was wondering if they the sponsors at your school provide gas, line, lures and eating money for traveling?
  20. I'm looking at Northwestern State University, University of Laffayette Louisiana, and Louisiana Tech. Whichever I can get the best scholorships and whichever serves me the best in bassfishing
  21. my mistake I wasn't really paying attention... anyway their guitarist is original but im not sure about anyone else. But yea the new CD is not lynyrd skynyrd... the only song that sounds like the original would be # 3 on the cd southern ways. But I can't say that I don't like the CD
  22. This happens on my local lake alot... the fish will boil but wont break the surface of the water. I usually fish something like a superfluke or any kind of soft jerkbait but I let it fall a bit deeper under the water about a 8 inches or so and pop it to the top and let it fall to about 8 inches and repeat. I also wake a spinnerbait that has larger blades usually gold or copper blades work best... I dont know why. goodluck
  23. I finally got the chance to go to a FLW Collegiate Weigh in the other day in Nachitoches, LA. It was the Texas regional championship. My question to you all would be how the heck do you guys get boats like that? I mean I've got a 16 foot skeeter and I plan to fish in college but I'm not sure how to go about getting a larger boat unless my dad or my grandfather let me use theirs. I was wondering if your college provides the boat or if you get money from your sponsors. As you can see I'm just trying to figure all this stuff out and depending on the answers I get might sway me towards a college destination. All I can say is that I'm not very rich.... I mean I'm not poor but to go out and get a 22' Ranger is a pretty impossible task for me to accomplish by the time I head off to college. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  24. Srry but IMO that blew... I know I'm not old, but whatever happened to a little AC/DC or Lynard Skynard. Btw has anyone heard the new Lynard Skynard CD?
