Would you eat a pot bellied female bass full of eggs in the spring?
First off BASS ARE DELICIOUS! Fried or grilled! All you YANKEE birdwatching floobies are rediculous with some of your ways of thinking. I would not keep the fish on tournament day and would not keep the fish if she was 3 pounds or over because the bigger fish have more eggs and therefore cause for more hatchlings in reproduction. But if she was less than THREE poinds she's goin in the grease!!! ;D

World record bass a phony.....
Gotta think man, this was 1932, not 2002. There was a Great Depression going on and everyone done all they could to put food on the table. I don't like eating bass too often, but if Im having a hard time putting food on the table, and I catch any fish, much less a 22lb bass that will feed a few stomachs, its gonna end up on the table.

World record bass a phony.....
If you read the story correctly he had to get the fish weighed at a post office and recorded before he could count the fish as the largest in the world. I do think that it is kinna prepostrous that he took the fish home a ate it but I do believe that the man caught the biggest fish in the world and I also beleive in the 25.1 that was foul hooked. If you read that story correctly the man dint bring it in to a post office bacause he did foul hook it. I seriously doubt a federal mail man or lady would lie for the man just to say he caught the biggest bass in the world. To say that there is one out there right now that could top that idk. All I can say is keep fishing and maybe we'll find out ;D

When to Flip and when to Pitch and what's the difference
I'm from Louisiana and thats mainly all we do around these cypress trees is jig fishing. Most of the time we use them in 2 to 6 feet of water but people use them in very deep water all the time. First off I thought pitching and flipping were the same thing. The way you were fishing the jig is called swimming a jig and it is very effective in flats and shallow areas around here. The way I mostly fish a jig and have seen others fishing jigs around structure such as cypress trees or docks would be to pitch or (flip) it out there and let it fall all the way to the bottom letting some slack out of your reel. Then reel up the slack and pull straight up on your rod and pop it once or twice before letting it sink all the way back to the bottom dragging it back towards the boat. Then repeat. Jigs may not produce many bites or strikes out of fish but usually they will produce a strike out of a bigger fish. Allways remember that.

Very good easter weekend!
First off thursday a buddy calls me to fish a tournament for a local company around here. We were fishing against men 40 and 50 years of age with about 20 boats in the tournament we won first place and won 450 dollars on Saline/Larto in deville louisiana. We had 15lbs. Then the highschool tournament that I had been talking about the last couple of weeks on kincaid I came in 3rd place with about 5lbs wit my only two fish. Second place had their 5 fish but only had a lil more weight than me. and 1st had around 7lbs. This tournament was on kincaid lake. The water is so clear here. It is very difficult to catch fish on this lake especially since it was an East wind. Either way I'm satisfied with this weekend and had a great time winning. Just thought I'd brag a lil bit . And for all you yankees out their, I turned all my fish aloose so no hard feelings? Good Fishing to all and have a great easter.

Your worst Tourney?
My worst tournament was last year at Saline/Larto complex in Deville, LA. It was a highschool tournament and I was looking for a partner to fish with. I asked around and finally this guy walks up and says I'll fish with you. Without asking him how much he knew about bass fishing I took him as he was. First off I later found out that he had only caught one bass in his life and that was on a jig pole crappie fishing. Everyone called him Bubba Parham and he was a nightmare of a fisherman. He shows up to my house the night before with an ultralight bream fishing rod with about 5lb tes. I knew right then it was going to be a long day. When we got out on the water he didn't seem to know how to tie his knot because his bait came off his line and kept flying into the trees. I had found fish the day before and knew I was on good count. But after babysitting this fool all day long I was frustrated and every bassfisherman knows that you can't catch fish when you're angry. I ended up catching 3 of our five fish limit and went to the weigh in thinking we were atleast in 3rd place. The tournament only pays three places and I thought we had third for sure. That was until the last guys weighed in 10 onehundreths of an ounce more than my weight. It's bad enough not making it into the money but when your that close it really gets under your skin. That has to be the worst tournament of my life. >

What does a bass bed look like and how do you see them?
Ive come to fins that if your in clearer water you may see a mirky area in the water where the female has been fanning her bed. Sometimes if you sight fish along a bank and watch carefully ahead of you, you may catch a female chasing baitfish off her bed. You may see a wake and a few flickering baitfish jumping ahead. Most of the time, if your careful not to spook the female with your trolling motor you may flip into the area where you spotted this and catch a fish off the bed. Also sometimes its been known for bass to drop off to outer trees where I live and you may catch a small etti in the water caused by a female fanning and you can throw beside the tree with little splash and catch them that way also.

Buzzbait during spring works!
Me and my dad love using buzz baits this time of year. It's especially good in the mornings after we have had a few days of warmer weather and there is low pressure. We mostly catch them on black and blue in the mornings and evenings and white and chart. in the middle of the day. btw nice fish
