  1. Awesome fish Carlos. Can't get any better than that! Jason
  2. Awesome! That's what it's all about! J.
  3. If it's a good one, I do get upset. I'll say out loud that I have to let it go but I do this basically all day. Eventually I'll get there. j
  4. Ah a local in the house! What's up. PM me the lakes you are fishing and I'll try to help you out. Chances are I've struggled on the exact same lakes. Jason
  5. I would be interested in seeing what would happen if you took a square billed shallow running crank (3ft or so) and concentrated on those isolated sticks in the areas with standing timber. Maybe try and "tick" the sides of the sticks as you go by with the crankbait. Just look for one or two that are by their lonesome and have at it. After you hit one, pause it just for a split second like it's stunned and keep on cranking. You might hang up a few but can get them out fairly easily. I'm thinking chartreuse with a black back. You could also do this with a buzz bait early or late in the day. Also, if you are looking for a BIG bite, you can't go wrong with a big 10 1/2 in. Zoom Ol Monster worm. Rig it texas style with a 3/8 oz bullet weight and a 5/0 - 6/0 hook. Any dark color works for me, purples, blacks, or something with a red tint to it. The big ones will be looking for a hearty meal and when it's dropped on their noses they can't resist. Throw some Megastrike on it and you'll be straight. Just my thoughts anyway. Looks like a pretty sweet lake! 8-) Jason
  6. I usually fish until I have to bust the ice out of my eyelets. I then turn to the Xbox/Computer fishing games. HeHe.
  7. I always try to ask if the owner minds if I fish around their dock if I see them in the yard. Most are very friendly when asked politely. If they are actually on the dock, I pass and go on to the next. The fisherman you speak of were rude in my opinion. It's like bumping into someone and not saying "excuse me". On a related note, being friendly and respectful of the owners property/dock pays off. I've had owners point out exactly where some other tournament anglers have sunk trees and have been thanked for catching a bedding bass that they wanted a better look at. I had no idea there was a bed there when I caught her. They told me all about what she had been doing the last few days. Very cool.
  8. Thanks Mike. It was a good day indeed. We rarely ever catch a good one each on the same trip. Weekday fishing is the deal it seems!
  9. Took the day off from work last Thursday and hit up a small local lake. Since it was close to my birthday I figured it owed us a good one (worth a shot anyway). Well never underestimate the power of a good ole 10 1/2 in. worm. The larger bass my father is holding I actually hooked and lost earlier. He threw back into that same pocket an hour later and had to hold on for dear life! Anyway, thought I would share. Jason
  10. Congratulations! I'm still looking for my first jig bite. This inspires me to pick them back up! Jason
  11. This may help. It's some info I got from a friend about fishing water that's extremely clear. Worth a try anyway. Twister tail grubs, small fluke or small bass assassins in CLEAR. Not smoke, not grey, but clear. If that does not work, cut the tail off one of the grubs and make it look like a jerkbait. Thread it on a light wire aberdeen hook and work it like a fluke jerkbait. Try to use the lightest line you feel comfortable with. I would also add some Megastrike for good measure. I never leave home without it.....at least when I'm fishing. Jason
  12. Nice fish man. 8-)
  13. I have the most luck with the Cavitron in chartreuse. 3/8. It also makes more of a chirp/gurgle than some of the others I have used which I think helps. Jason
  14. Thanks again for all the help guys. I'll pick up a few and hopefully report back here with results/photos. 8-) Jason
  15. Good stuff Bassin_Fin@tic, thank you. I'm diggin' the rootbeer too. I think I'm going to be broke by the end of the week. So many good choices, so few dollars. Ha.
  16. Zoom trick worm in black. They are affordable and they work. I have bags and bags of other worms but always end up catching them with the trick worm. J.
  17. Thanks for all the info guys, it is appreciated. Primus - I saw the Crack color while I was sorting through all of LC's colors. I liked it too. Crack kills right? ;D Dock Master- I'll send you a PM. Anything that will help to consistently catch them would be great. These lakes here are feast or famine for us right now. kLuo - I'm starting to think the 78 may be a touch small as well. We certainly have some lakes here that produce DD bass but they are very few and far between. We'll catch several between 3 & 5 lbs throughout the year but most fish we call "decent" here are 2 - 2.5lbs or so. iceintheveins - I've had luck on spinnerbaits on several of the lakes we fish. No luck at all with firetiger which is strange I admit. Also no luck with the lipless cranks. I just can't get the feel for them and casting and retrieving just doesn't work it seems. Dark plastics are money if you are throwing green pumpkin or junebug, black as well. I had a Redemption spinnerbait that I LOVED but broke it off a couple of months ago. Grrr! :-/
  18. Thanks guys. One vote for Ghost Minnow. Anyone else have a favorite in murky-ish water?
  19. Bigger profile maybe? Pointer 112? I'm open to any suggestions.
  20. I would normally agree with that statement but last year the guys that threw them here were money during spring and fall. Most of them use red & black but I was hoping to pick up some colors that could work and give the fish a different look. If I can't catch fish with them I'll put em' on here for sale. ;D Jason
  21. I'm looking to purchase some Lucky Craft Pointers and hope you guys can help with color choices. I live in NC and rarely fish any "clear" water here. Most areas I would consider to be stained. Maybe 3-4 ft of visibility at best. What colors would you recommend? The majority of the forage here is Threadfin Shad. I'd like to use something a little different than the sexy shad color. Thanks! Jason
  22. The bag will come later.......much much later. HaHa. Takes a while.
  23. I can't exactly remember what I paid for my membership but it wasn't much. Got the bag, sticker, patch, all that stuff.
  24. Nice crappie! Looks like you have a great pond there! J.
  25. I would definitely convert if it's not too expensive. I bought into the idea that it was a "crankbait" reel and would "slow me down". Unfortunately I am having trouble catching up with fish as they swim toward me. Haha.
